deeveus 81 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Was leaving a job today coming back down the road when I noticed an old N12 Pulsar EXA. I've not seen one in years on the roads. I had one as a first car so when I got talking to the chap I ended up buying the fkn thing. It's been off the road 3 years and not started since that time. It started 2nd pop but only because the carb and filter were empty as and is a very sweet little runner with only 117,000kms. Plans are to take it for a wof get the issues sorted and then get it fully panel and painted. They're as hideous as they come but hold a lot of memories for me. Everyone must remember their first car? Edited August 7, 2014 by The Diesel Guy

sonic_attack 89 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 My old lady bought one of the first imports into the country, a blue turbo one. They were always pretty goofy looking, even more so now.

deeveus 81 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 Love old jap weird cars. How much did you pay $400 which is probably quite steep but had they motor fully redone 6 months prior to parking it up. Owner could no longer drive. Interior is totally immaculate and original with push button FM radio. Aircon even blew cold.

charles28 136 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 I've had about 5 N12 Turbo pulsars/milanos/exa's/Langleys. I modded then to about 180hp at the wheels and broke a lot of gearboxes back in my younger days
Driftit 2079 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Got one for free once. Even being free I thought it was crap. Left it in car park with the keys in it and windows down. Sat there for about a month. I think you have a case of nostalgia goggles. One ticket for the hate train please.
KwS 2425 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 bold, wouldnt buy it myself but itll be a great deal if you can get it road legal without too much effort. Should make a project thread about it. Would be interesting to see if a decent cut and polish would make most of it red again.
Toast 117 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 They're pretty hideous things.. have always thought they should have been rear engine similar to the AW11. Here's one in racing livery, looks a darn sight better than from the back.

39KiwiTouring 2 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Clean the sh*t out of it pump up the tyres put some fuel in it play with it for a week make sure it starts first pop run it through for a wof and sell it for $600 with wof fail sheet for buyer. You know that's what's going to happen anyway.
KwS 2425 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Or better yet depending on what it fails on, get the wof and flick it off for $1500. Cheap reg/wof cars just arent that cheap anymore, so $1500 would be reasonable IMO.
twisted 45 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Hah. Fkn awesome. Ugly as sin. But these things have a funny place in my heart. Drove a turbo one for a while when I worked for enterprise. Had ridiculous torque steer, though that could have been the milano, though pretty sure the exa was based on the milano?
charles28 136 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) 180hp on about 800kgs would have been quite brisk. Sort of, Didn't get traction until 3rd gear, no limited slip diff, best 1/4 mile time I did was 14.6 @98mph Fastest one in the world with the original engine did 11's from memory. www.n12turbo.com has the top 10 list etc. A couple of the ones I had: http://www.n12turbo.com/cars/charles/DSCF0003.JPG http://www.n12turbo.com/cars/charles2/pulsar.jpg http://www.n12turbo.com/cars/charles2/pulsar1.jpg (crazy green seats) Edited August 8, 2014 by Charles32
