One down. Four to go.

The paint had a nice bright finish to it until I put on the super hard drying clear coat and it's gone quite dull. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I think I'll explore other paints on some corrugated iron till I find a finish that works.

So I went out to the car tonight to get something and low and behold I discover this in the door I put on.

thats cool. was that a feature from a later car? seems odd that something as high spec as the 750i wouldnt get that standard.

Oh well, they'll match the front guard and bonnet that are going to be replaced as well. Then theres the Green front bumper I've got for it and if things pan out I'll have a blue rear bumper that doesn't have a hole cut in it for a tow bar(deleting that).

All good reasons to get organising(saving) for that new paint job.

Given it's rarity I think I'll keep to the original color, Titanium Silver. In saying that I actually prefer the darker shade thats on the donor car so I may go with that.

Paint in the colour you like - it's rarish - make it your own.

number 41 of 113. And thats total in the world.

It's the most exclusive E38 ever built. They made more L7's than these.

I'll keep this one as original as I can. I'll play with the color on the 740i though when it comes time to paint that one.

What kind of blue is that? Looks amazing

It's Estoril blue but made a bit darker by using a very dark undercoat. Beautiful.

Ah ha! I knew it was something slightly different. Looked estoril but could def tell that it was a bit darker.

Just checked all the other doors on the 750i and they all have the fiber optics so on my next days off I'll have to pull off the interior door panels and check the bulbs. Yay, so much easier then replacing the handles..lol

^^^^^^^Tis but not the yellow further above. I like Dakar on the E36 but certainly doesn't suit the 38

Had a good result with painting the rims. The last clear coat I used gave the paint a greenish tint to it.

This time I used Rust-Oleum crystal clear enamel and it's come out much brighter.
