HELLBM 1560 Report post Posted November 1, 2015 Installed JB4 last week and promptly destroyed the OEM charge pipe. Factory plastics don`t like the extra boost. Replacement with a BMS N54 Chargepipe seems to have done the trick. Dechromed as a sideline. Took her for a blast on a new road at the back of Hatfields beach over the Northern Gateway. After installing my JB4 I replaced the charge pipe at the same time as it is only a matter of time... Which map are you running on JB? I was running map 5 for a good month but recently ruined 2 coil packs so back on map 1 for time being, power delivery feels a lot more responsive and smoother (although boost has dropped from 15psi to 13psi) than I ever achieved on map 5 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

"Map 5 is designed to be continually adapting particularly focusing on the last three minutes or so of wide open throttle activity. Upon selecting map 5 it will default to "93 octane" levels (approx 14psi peak) and adapt up or down from there. Those running E30 mixtures will see the tuning become more aggressive (higher boost, higher timing, leaner AFR) during subsequent wide open throttle pulls while those running lower octane mixtures such as 91 octane will see the tuning become less aggressive (less boost, less timing, richer AFR) during subsequent wide open throttle pulls. It's important to note the map learning is always active. So should things take a turn for the worse during a run (intercooler outlet temps rising, oil temps rising, increased engine knock, etc) the tuning will respond accordingly" JB4 MAPS: Map 0: Stock bypass. Map 1: 13psi. Suggested for most racing applications. Map 2: 14.5psi. Suggested for those with exhaust and 93 RM2 or higher octane. Map 3: Progressive meth mapping with flow sensor failsafe. See guide to enable. Meth use isn't supported/suggested without a flow sensor and map 3. Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Allows full logging and in dash gauges on the stock mapping. Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 12-17psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications. Fully E85 compatible. If using E85 we suggest around 30% to start. Refer to the E85 FAQ for addl info. Resets to 93 octane level adaptions when selected and adjusts itself up or down from there. Map 6: User defined map generally only used for diagnostics or troubleshooting. Map 7: Race gas map. 18.5psi peak boost on the G5 ISO. Requires straight 100-104+ RM2 octane unleaded racing fuel. The expensive stuff. We do not suggest using leaded racing fuel. To use this map with E85 requires the BMS E85 back end flash, inline booster fuel pump, and a 40%+ E85 mix, per E85 FAQ. Brendon and I were testing out WOT with a a small incline when it first happened (pipe popped off). We pulled over, re-connected the pipe and reset faults and reset data logging. Alas the pipe popped off again on map one. Got it back to the workshop and checked the retaining spring clip which is just made of mild steel that has been anealed, bent it to put some strength back into the clip clamp pressure and re-installed. Went for another hoon, this time hit full boost with no worries then tried again. Heard the big pop, this time it broken the plastic collar around the pipe. Basically the charge pipe design isn't meant for anything over stock boost. The design has no tolerance for extra pressure and I suspect the collar was circuming to expansion of the main pipe, hence the breakages being reported. I suspect a lot of it is to so with the weak retaining clip as well. Haven't had a chance to drive and log on the new charge pipe yet, but will do shortly. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

First time I road tested my chargepipe install I hadn't secured the intercooler end tight enough and heard the big pop when I built boost - luckily nothing was broken so just tightened it a lot more and has been fine ever since! So from the pics I can see BMS dual intakes, JB4, and chargepipe - exactly the same set up as me! (I do have the BMS Oil catch can installed too). Any other mods in the pipeline? M3 Diff,1/2 shafts and swaybar takes out most of the stock twitchiness.
