balancerider 777 Report post Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) I like this - probably as much as an F10 M5 and more than a 535D. Seems reasonably priced given the performance and km. I wouldn't get the deco-set stripes or the fussy front lip if I were ordering new though. I wonder where it's come from - RHD but kph speedo and diesel is an unusual combo - Singapore perhaps? https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1945379589 Edited February 10, 2019 by balancerider
Kodachrome 158 Report post Posted February 10, 2019 The Q&A does say Singapore. The other market for KPH and diesel is Ireland.
GorGasm 563 Report post Posted February 10, 2019 Again it's M5 money, for not an M5. I like the white/brown though.
KwS 2429 Report post Posted February 10, 2019 I'd take the alpina in this case over an m5, because diesel and uncommon. I can only imagine what an alpina fiddled diesel pulls like. They do kinda target two very different markets though, so hard to just say "but that's m5 money". That interior/exterior scheme is lush.

Yep, shouldn't really be comparing the two, completely different target audience imho. M5/M6 = performance D5/B6 = getting from A to B in comfort (and pretty damn fast still)
balancerider 777 Report post Posted February 11, 2019 Probably faster than an M5 if on the autobahn. F10 generation D5 has a top speed of 324kph, M5 will be bouncing off the limiter well before then

GorGasm 563 Report post Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) Have to disagree. The M5 has just as much comfort as the D5 and the D5 is gunning for performance as well. The torque rating on the M5 is pretty much the same as the D5. The only advantages I see in the Alpina is the fuel consumption, and potentially maintenance costs being lower. In any case i'd just grab a 535d and give it a tune and save myself 30 grand on the Alpina. Edited February 11, 2019 by GorGasm

Driftit 2093 Report post Posted February 12, 2019 That is actually quite a lot of KM's for a Singapore car this new. As much as I like a quick diesel. I would rather have a M5.
qube 3570 Report post Posted February 12, 2019 F10 M5 available for 45K at the moment. @bradgalbraith yours?

E30 325i Rag-Top 2963 Report post Posted February 12, 2019 Big difference between cruising up and down the M5 at 80mph and crawling around Singers at 10mph.. Are there any dealerships in the UK that Frank hasn't bought up now.. jeez.?
SmithyInWelly 212 Report post Posted February 13, 2019 Maybe because I'm rapidly approaching 50; those Alpina B5's (B7's, and even B3's) look the business inside and out - refined, subtle, classy, powerful, and relatively understated. Do I think they're worth as much (or more) than the relative M car? Not on your Nelly... completely different market and to me, nowhere near the same value.Having said that - very few buyers would be cross-shopping an Alpina and an M3/5 so it's a moot point, like most others.
TermiPeteNZ 1319 Report post Posted February 18, 2019 Looks beaut - agree on the colour scheme. For some collectors Alpinas are the bee's knees - typically rarer than M cars.
