I officially dislike the entire current BMW line up. If I win lotto this weekend I'm not even going to a BMW dealership.

I agree with Kelvin... that rocker cover is unlikely to be sealed and will a) spit out a lot of oil and b) sound like a vacuum cleaner. Take it back. If they've used sealant around the entire perimeter, or anywhere other than the joins in the alu then you'll probably need a new gasket. All of those rubber seals on the bolts are also meant to be replaced at the same time.

Was the work done by the dealership? If so, that is terrible workmanship, and will have you questioning what else they got wrong.

It looks like the photo is showing one of the rubber seals under the bolt is on the piss, and is that a whole lot of sealant slathered under the gasket?! None of that will be helping. Get rid of the sealant, a new gasket shouldnt need any except in the corners near the vanos unit, and all the bolts need to be tightened and sealed or there could be a vacuum leak from the rocker cover. Also check the spark plugs are tight....

Tiff Needell rated rated them in top 10 to buy now as investments. 5th gear had an episode this season, which lined a 130 E81 up against a bunch of the other "superhatches" of similar generation and 130 was voted best car. Considering when released they got praised for the engine, and dynamics, but weird looks and small boot (clarkson), and the R32 golf Mk5 considered the better car.... they seem to be ageing better than the competition.

I'd say the car would get results similar to what others say. But I've only really driven it around town (and not that frequently).

Far out, nearly 14 months since the last update! Well not a lot of progress has been made on the car in the last year. My son deteriorated quite quickly from the start of last year, to the point that by June he was a long term admission to Starship. He had his liver transplant on the 24th September (I was the donor), and he was home 9 days later (a record). It’s totally changed our lives. The last few months have been spent recovering (for me) and getting our lives in order. Last week I cleaned the car, did oil and filter change and this last weekend my wife and I did a day trip to Coromandel for my wife’s Granny’s 80th. We took the long way round (via Clevedon and Miranda) and had a great time. Few photos from the trip attached.

Hi all! This is an expression of interest for my E30 as well as a complete drop-in SR20DET conversion. Owned the car almost 3 years now and brought it over from Aus late last year Planned to swap the conversion kit and other parts into this chassis, certify and enjoy again. However, recent wedding and future plans = get rid of toys and other fun things for a while ? Please note: only comment or PM if genuine interest, all pricing is certainly negotiable and can fix a combined price. If you think something is overpriced or is sh*t, thanks for your opinion but save it and remember, this is an EOI More photos to follow Vehicle - $6500 is desired but open to realistic and sensible offers Good bits: 1989 E30 318i M40 Coupe 179xxx kms Serviced late last year and replaced oil filter housing seals (started leaking as it does) Sunroof model Automatic 2-point strut bar Repainted few years ago, paint in very good condition, exterior is tidy but has imperfections Absolutely no rust, will stand up to scrutiny (flew through compliance) Replica Mtech Kit Bilstein suspension all around, firm ride Battery re-located to boot New outer tie rods New OE exhaust Bottle cap wheels with good tread tyres No smoking policy adhered to.
