  1. Normally the reserve is half way in their estimate, so $11k. Is it a good buy at that? Who knows?
  2. Sorry, I was reading from the TM ad, I’m intrigued. Assuming it’s not the Nz new one that was crashed at Pukekohe(?).
  3. An intriguing back story…..
  4. 1 “Stored offsite” So never sold it and stuck it in a warehouse, then jacked the price. 2 ”Great paint” After my mate blew a quick coat of clear over it to mask the problems, should last another 12 months if kept out of the sun, see 1 above.
  5. Went back and checked, it was gone.
  6. Not bad, but how about a 928 for $15k requiring a $12k gear box rebuild?

    Quick rant thread.

Repco. Priced up new brakes for the wifes Mazda, the pads were $346. Delivered by DHL Express from Spareto, $139. Same brand, same part no. Even including the discs (and the massive jump in freight cost), Spareto was $140 cheaper. And control arm bushes for the same car at $174 for a brand I've never heard of versus $25 plus shipping. No wonder they got the nickname.
  9. The internet isn't much help, a lot say 140kg, some more: https://www.sundownercaravanhire.com.au/vehicle-towing-capacity.html#AUDI https://parksidetowbars.com.au/TOWBAR-SUIT-BMW-X5-F15--E70-111718/8510-f2b649c0-6fcb-4971-be26-723c526c0a4a/ It looks like maybe a 50x50 detachable is heavier, but who knows? Not all NZ X5s have 3500kg bars either in my experience.
  10. I cheated and googled, the info was the towball limit (not the towing limit) was the same regardless of model or increased towing capacity, pretty much as Jon listed above, my number was just bigger off something I'd read or been told at the dealer.
  11. Is it not marked on the actual tow bar? I think it's 270kg across the range, but not 100%.
  12. There’s this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-european-bmw-parts/spare-tire-kit/36112159861~oeb/ and others like it, but no idea where you’d put it or secure it so it doesn’t fly around in an accident.

I’ll make it simpler. Has a component of the car failed after 3 days, having been sold by a dealer who is bound by the Consumer Guarantees Act to provide a good or product that is fit for the purpose for which it was purchased and of quality commensurate with the price paid? Yes. The dealer is responsible.

It has to be fit for purpose, would you expect a car to break down after 3 days? No. Take it back.

I just got off the phone with my father, were you eavesdropping? Actually it’s 50/50 National/Labour. nzta.govt.nz

What would you get as an alternate jack for an X5? The standard one that I’ve used once is the same as a 3 series from what I can see and it just doesn’t instil confidence in lifting the X5, even empty. I have a space saver.

Best video commentary. The whole network is f&&ked, NZTA came out the other day and said the reason the roads were so bad is they were making sure they got their monies worth out of what they spent on them 10 years ago. It’s beyond belief.
  18. We had a ‘93 (?) E32 730i V8, Singapore import. Ran it for 10 years and 120,000kms, nothing went wrong apart from wear and tear items , brakes, usual oil etc and a steering rack at about 160kms. Even that was cheaper than I thought it would be. However I know first hand a few horror stories too, maybe luck of the draw/an inspection as above.
  19. Some on E30 Owners on Facebook. A set. Don’t know if they’re cheap.
  20. Facebook. However they are in Ohio and it’s $2k USD.
  21. At least it doesn’t look like it’s rusted the roof, like the factory one. I always thought it must be nerve wracking making the first cut and wondering if you’d got it right….
  22. A sports exhaust on a 4 cyl diesel. Why would you amplify the sound of disappointment?
  23. https://spareto.com/t/vehicles/bmw/bmw-3-touring-e91-323-i/spark-glow-ignition/spark-plug check the model, but I think that’s the right one.
  24. Petrol https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/ford/mondeo/listing/3758294339 Diesel https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/ford/mondeo/listing/3752948445 Lots of space, drive good, enough grunt and pretty sure they had sorted any gearbox issues by then, which mainly seemed to be maintenance driven.
