Jamez' series is pretty large up here. Its the everyday mans motorsport with great cheap fun to be had by all. Will be good to see you SI guys make a great series the same as it has for up here. Just keep in mind its the racers that make the series and everyone sticking to the rules and getting involved in the community aspect of it is the key to success.

Very, I was sceptical of what they'd be like at that price. Blown away when I saw they were motorsports, especially staggered. A combination of things, holding the camera the wrong way, in a rush, trying to fit all the car in at an angle. Not my finest photography moment I noticed that just on the drive home, it feels way more planted? Might just be a placebo effect but I was certainly sold. I'll flick you a PM now, realistically I'd like to make my money back that I spent on the tyres at least but I don't know what kind of prices are good. Actually while the conversation's flowing, does anybody know where I could get my hands on an mtech 2 bumper for my E46? At this point I'm willing to buy another colour, sand it down and get it resprayed if I have to.

Two mates of mine run the Gen 3 LS1 in VY2 SS & Clubsport Dunnydoors, combined mileage is now creeping towards 650,000. Granted theres been a whole bunch of in cabin stuff that just decides one random day to brick itself or simply fall off (Sunvisor landing in my mates lap is the funniest one yet) but mechanically they've been impressively sound. Would run a large number of miles from a VT / VX though! If only they'd built the cars to go round corners with some degree of predictability and grace But I digress. Surely someone must know of a reasonably priced estate to save my family from the disgrace of Holden ownership?? Please?!?

I think angel eyes look good not really a fan of the multi colour types of those tacky aftermarket altezza style ones. But factory headlights with the rings look good, a friend recently got a set off of ebay for less than $60 delivered. Heres a pick of my e36

Apparently these splitters are really good, made of polypropylene plastic. Interwebs says they can take a real beating. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/E36-M3-Velocity-Splitter-Carbon-Fiber-Available

some radar detectors have the ability to pick up laser .. ? if you've ever operated a laser speed detector, it can take a few tries to get a decent return reflection unless aimed directly perfect the first time at a proper facet to reflect the laser output in the correct direction to gain an accurate dopler shift readout.

Here's my old E36 a few years ago. The first picture was the result I got from using blueish halogens and CCFL angels.. And the second picture is my current E36 with HIDs and LED angels. So the halogens were pretty close to being like the HID just slightly less blue and not as intense. Still looked good though.

First roadtrip in the E60 last week. WOW. This thing transforms into a beast when you hit the open roads. More power than ANYTHING on the roads (pretty much), and the grip levels are out of this world. 100kph - 200kph is literally insane. Yet to do any actual top speed runs, but can cruise along with no dramas, no stress comfortably at 160+ on the way to the coromandel. This is the first car I've ever owned which goes faster than my driving allows it to. Overtaking cars is hilarious. Press the M button, drop it into 3rd gear, and hold on! Fuel economy so far for 70L tank: ($160 to fill). 1st tank: 350km 2nd tank: 370km 3rd tank: 380km 4th tank: 360km Currently at 20.4 L / 100km Disgusting really. The E39 M5 was literally 25% better, and that thing was thirsty too. It feels like, if I drive it a bit less aggressively, or am on open roads the whole time, I could easily get 420km. Will try for this sometime soon.

I'm not really a fuel economist kind of person to be honest. I've had many crappy daily drivers in the past (nissans, toyotas). I've also had a track car in the past (400 horsepower nissan drift car). Since owning my first E39 m-sport, I decided that driving a nice car day to day really is my thing. I just thoroughly enjoy hopping into my 'nice' car at the start and end of each day, it makes the drive to and from work that little bit more exciting, more lively. I arrive at my clients in a generally much happier mood. I also think I guess I love the ego boost side of things, I enjoy meeting people who like my car, or one day want to own one themselves. You're right, taking the E39 on the race track would be good fun. But having done a bit of track drifting in the past in a faster, track-built drift race car, it's not a new thing to me, and to be honest, my old nissan would be more suited to the racetrack (1100kg vs 1800kg same power). In the end of my 'drift career' trackdays ended up being very stressful and competitive, and instead of enjoying it and having fun, i was always putting myself under pressure to do better, be faster. Then comes the cost/feeling when something breaks. BMW have always said the 5 series is supposed to be the perfect car for 1) relaxing driving day to day, with up to 4 people and luggage, then, when you want it to be, the performance of a super car. I am simply hoping the E60 is as good at this as my E39 is. I love the E39, almost love it even more in the last 24 hours after buying the E60. I understand now why people say it's the last "real" M5. For me though, the extra power, the strange but quite interesting gearbox, the electronic wizardry (I am an IT consultant by trade), and absolute brutal speed especially on the motorway, really turns the E60 into a new type of M5, a new type of super sedan. Time will tell. If only I could keep both M5s.... DREAMS
