Minor Project, but still a project none the less. So E46 323Ci AC Schnitzer. Currently sporting a few minor modifications. - 19" Hunter Imagine, Staggered Dish rims - Supersprint Exhaust Evo2 muffler - Motorsport Front Seats - Angel Eyes And I am convinced a form of upgrade, it performs a lot better than your average 323i Purchased, but to add - Dynavin Unit (Clone, but no difference really - Type R, Alpine Speakers - SPR-60 for the rear - SPR-60C (Component set) Planned: Well, I dug up today to see if it had a stock Amp, and sadly it doesn't (Photo's included) so will have to wire in an amp. I will most likely go with Alpine as well. On that note. - My 4x50watt power from the Dynavin C won't do much with the Alpine Type R's! I will be installing the speakers/Head unit myself, and can pop a photo thread up if anybody wants to follow. I won't however be adding the amplifier as a rather large job I would rather not stuff up! The current headlights are Xenon HID Dims, and Halogen Brights/Fog Lights. So, new foglights. The current are worse for wear, I would also like to match the colour to Xenon.. I am clueless when it comes to Headlights, so I apologise for the lack of terminology. Wanting to know if maybe Foglights could be Xenon or LED even? Open to help on this I would like to (still in the debation chamber) convert to manual and upgrade to a 330i.. And then use that as my base engine to progress on. Due to the High K's on the current engine, I am slightly skeptical about putting money into it! Body/Paint needs a touch up in a few areas (bumper, roof) so will try and source some colour match paint. Polish of the rims, and look into getting the very few curbs marks out. I am currently happy with the suspension, smooth ride, but great when I do ask it to whip around corners at a slightly uncomfortable speed. This is a contiunous list - so things will always be added to it along the way, but for now, just the things listed are on the top of my mind to complete! Enjoy

You won't be able to put xenon bulbs in the existing fog lamps (not legally anyway) and LEDs will look okay but won't be much cop if you actually want to use them to see where you're going but will be cheap. Best bet - but also most expensive - will be to source some HID fog assemblies. It's only illegal to fit an HID kit to a lamp not designed for xenons. Unless you're pretty good at this or know someone who can do a decent polish afterwards I'd recommended getting a pro to do it and a full cut and polish. It's quite pricey but you only need to do it once then look after it and you'll have paint that looks new for a long time to come.

I would prefer one of these over an E30 M3 because I don't want a road racer, but do enjoy something a bit different with a hint of fun and inherent uncommonness. In fact I would never own the E30 M3 simply to not be seen as a sheep. A barge the 190 may be, but the E30 M3 certainly ain't no Farina design.

This, people, is how you sell a car.

They are over budget, but get Sennheiser or Bose. Some people can deal with cheap quality stuff and not know the difference, but you sound like you do, and you deserve quality. Might be a wee bit over your $120, $180 will be about right.

Wicked looking car! Colour is awsome too. Nice choice in speakers, are you going to run them through amp aswell?

They do look a lot smaller, possibly due to the lip, but they don't look too big and ride really well

When I read about the 19" rims I was ready to think 'they're going to be too big'. But they look pretty good... Sweet.

Did you watch the video? The German type ones are made in the same way that the genuine government issued german (and other european countries) ones are, using the same equipment. they are NOT a regular sticker, they are applied using some thermal tape type stuff you can see in the video. there is no chance it can go on crooked etc.. Way back in 2010, there were quality issues with the NZ reps ONLY. after a few batches not up to my standard, i get the stickers made here and put them on myself. They are properly scanned or however they do it off my set of Genuine plates.co.nz ones. THERE ARE NO ISSUES NOW or in the past couple years etc, and if anyone does loose a sticker etc, happy to send out another one.

Yes, I saw that one. Not the V8 I wanted and no cream/grey leather but does have the motorsport kit which is appealing. I've got a couple of sets of BBS wheels, either of which would look a lot better than those chrome M pars... Although repainted in normal silver and they suit the car IMO. If it's still there when I get back to Auckland later this week I'll take a look. EDIT: Pity it has that ugly-ass spoiler on it.

You can also buy one of these in good nick and you have 20K left out of an average E30 M3 budget. 20K can buy some pretty decent upgrades.

Looking good. Further to M3_power's invaluable input. If you are likely to keep soft rear springs, look at getting the Barrel shaped ones (Voltgand (VSS) do them for use with adjustable perches and a variety of rates, also the ground-control kits use this shape spring). You'll see the ones in M3-powers' pick have the top/bottom coils of a smaller diameter. The cylindrical springs will make a mess of things when/if they coil-bind, Also check if the bumpstops are still functional Vs the spring 'block height' and with that threaded perch up the top. And the gospel inner-web will tell you it's all fine, but most 'inner-web gods' in the US of A are running 700 to 1000 lb springs in the rear on track-only cars. ps. If you didn't already know, the quickest way to check for coil-bind is, to stick a zip-tie on one of the coils. As it just get pinched and goes missing if you have a problem.

I would. The only good E36 is a Stripped out race prepared E36.

Jesus. My E60 does around 1100kms on the open road per tank.

First roadtrip in the E60 last week. WOW. This thing transforms into a beast when you hit the open roads. More power than ANYTHING on the roads (pretty much), and the grip levels are out of this world. 100kph - 200kph is literally insane. Yet to do any actual top speed runs, but can cruise along with no dramas, no stress comfortably at 160+ on the way to the coromandel. This is the first car I've ever owned which goes faster than my driving allows it to. Overtaking cars is hilarious. Press the M button, drop it into 3rd gear, and hold on! Fuel economy so far for 70L tank: ($160 to fill). 1st tank: 350km 2nd tank: 370km 3rd tank: 380km 4th tank: 360km Currently at 20.4 L / 100km Disgusting really. The E39 M5 was literally 25% better, and that thing was thirsty too. It feels like, if I drive it a bit less aggressively, or am on open roads the whole time, I could easily get 420km. Will try for this sometime soon.

Has no one noticed that some have proven hp increases with the m50 manifold while others have proven results of a loss? These stats come up everywhere and everyone has their own opinion on whethet THEY like THEIR car more. Just because John smith had a loss doesn't mean Harry Smith will have a loss too OBVIOUSLY by the various results. Is there something that we all are missing here? I've done the m50 swap on my 2.8L and I couldn't give a rats arse what others say, I know it goes better and I'm the only one I have to please. So for all the tech heads that only crunch numbers then spit abuse to people for liking the change, maybe their just jealous they didn't get the result others have. 1995 328i obd1 (factory) Jatco auto box M50 manifold K&N pod filter 3.46 diff (non lsd) Decat and modified standard muffler And mine goes way better than with the m52 manifold So maybe its just luck of the draw lol.
