2 pointsHey Everyone... Thought I would start a thread for my newly acquired E46 M3. Back in 2010 I sold my beloved E46 which looked very similar to this. It was tastefully modified with coilovers, Work wheels and various carbon bits. I have come full circle after owning an E90 M3, RS4 and R32. While these cars were a joy to drive, nothing offered the same driving feel to the E46. While it may not be the fastest car, it has a 'special' factor to it and the worldwide E46 community is fantastic. Forgive the initial iPhone picture. I will do a proper shoot soon. Lots of goodies on the way from the states! Won't look like this for much longer. So far I have done the following: - LED Angel Eyes - Blackout Grill - ZHP Gearknob with Alcantara Shift Boot - AVIN-Avant 2 Head Unit - Comprehensive review to come

1 pointMy new weekender and project. A pretty good starting point... Far better than I hoped for on my modest budget but I got lucky with a vendor desperate to sell before moving overseas. First thing that has to go are those ugly ass 80s exhaust tips, then a few cosmetics (msport bumpers, missing wheel cap, kerbing, etc) and some maintenance... Will start a project log soon. EDIT: Forgot to mention... For some bizarre reason it also has a towbar fitting. F*ck knows why you'd put a tow bar on one of these but someone did... And it I don't plan to keep it.

1 pointSlow, thirsty and noisy... Apart from that, amazing!! Haha. Actually it's not bad but doesn't really find it's legs until you're doing 100+. Won't be doing much other than normal maintenance to the engine. Gonna start squirrelling away for an S62 straight away.

1 pointMost auto darkening helmets dont work with tig, but a $20 manual one with the right lens works sweet!! Thats all i use for tig, use the auto helmet for everything else. NEVER WELD WITH OUT A HELMET! Picked up the boot floor on Sat from you, is the purple t2 yours as well?

1 pointWas sat in a pub garden overlooking the car park , woman comes out and gets into her great big Jaguar. Backs out of the space and straight into a Mini opposite, huge bang. So she gets out, checks the back of the Jag for damage and then drives off! Mini has broken lights, dented panels damaged paint. Unbelievable. Luckily we got the reg. no. To give the Mini owner when they came out, gave witness statement to insurance company and police. Doesn't matter where you park, there is always some clown who will batter your car. Avoid people movers with car seats at all costs.

1 pointTell the ltsa? Those WOF inspectors answer to someone and have to keep their authority to issue wofs so I'd imagine there would some sort of quality control or auditing .. Or just let it go and never go back there and advise people not to!

1 pointThanks guys. Number 2 on the list is now sorted. Made up a combination of E30 320i Manual back half with a lengthened E46 318i front half for the drive-shaft. The E46 had the right sized flange on it to fit the output from the 265/5 box, had the centre hanger on the same side of the joint as the E30 and the splines matched between the two halves. Only problem was it came up short, but got the Driveline guys in Penrose to put a new section in to lengthen it. The fact that you can mix-and-match parts from different series models like that, and not just on driveshafts, is one of the things I do really like about working on the older BMWs. Good old German Engineers "zis is the size we haf alvays used, so that is the size we haf on ze new one!" I even managed to get my measurements SPOT ON! Fitted straight in, and the centre hanger was smack in the middle of the slot as planned. I measured, and re-measured a dozen times but I still wasn't confident due to being upside down under the car with a tape measure trying to hold it straight across quite a distance in three dimensions. So was very chuffed when that worked, as it would have cost a bit if I'd got it wrong. Starting to get excited now, getting so close to running. So, in typical Jon The Pom style I have now started buying bits for Stage 2, even though stage 1 isn't finished!
