8 pointsTonight I'll be changing the IP address of bimmersport to the following: IPv4 - 103.48.118.240 IPv6 - 2001:df2:3400:3::::240 The magic of DNS should take care of everything during the night. This should be the last change for ages Also depending on time, ill setup the old IP as a proxy to the new address to avoid any downtime. Edit - All Done.

4 pointsSpeaking as someone who use to work for corrections, those who can't or won't pay, get a pretty sweet deal, one guy I recall had 40k of fines turned into 150 hrs of community service. Pretty sweet hourly rate if you ask me

2 pointsI hear you Graham... Why would you consider driving a car you have to unlock yourself with a remote button? Imagine, over the car's lifetime that probably costs you 9 or 10 minutes. Nightmare!!!!! Imagine if you had to unlock it with the key!! F*ck that... Only idiots use keys. SO.MUCH.TIME.WASTED.

2 pointsLast October I decided the uncertain future of this car had gone on long enough. So exactly one year after purchasing it I took a knife to the roof lining to find out the extent of the damage. And cut out the back half of the sunroof tray. Then I stripped the roof skin back to bare metal. Luckily it was not too far gone. Had the roof skin been beyond saving I do not know what I would of done. Luckily as the sunroof tray had disintegrated it had dropped away from it. I considered replacing the sunroof assembly, it sure is nice driving with it open on a hot day and they certainly make for good photos in that tilted position. However they are such a common rust trap and I did not want to give history a chance to repeat itself. So... I decided to convert it to a slick top.

1 pointI've wanted an E9 for as long as I can remember. They are such an important car in the history and story line of BMW. Their success in touring car racing in Europe in the 70's is nothing short of astronomical. All whilst being one of the best looking cars the company has ever produced. Several have come up on Trademe for sale in the last few years but the timing and budget have never quite married up. About 6 weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and fly down to Christchurch and have a look at one that was for sale down there. Needless to say the car was exceptional, a few issues but in the whole exactly what I was after. So a week later it arrived at work on the back of a truck. Its a 1973 3.0 CS left hand drive in automatic, malaga red with tan leather interior. Sold new in Germany it was imported to Japan where it had a minor restoration and then to New Zealand about 18 months ago. Its going to be a slow process as i still have my E30 I need to sell before i can really start doing anything to it but at least its a start. I've played around with my set of BBS RS off my E30 and cant wait to rebuild them into appropriate sizes and get them on. Also bring the car down to earth a wee bit.

1 pointHi guys! Last year i was down in Queenstown for a week on the snow having a blast, sweeping powder, hitting jumps, sliding rails... Awesome! In the midst of this I met the owner of a recruitment company on a chair lift and he told me about the growing software development sector in Auckland. I took his details and said if i ever decided to move to NZ i would look him up! Well, 2 weeks after getting back i had made up my mind, Sydney had done me well but it was time to cross the water and move Auckland! I applied for a interesting job here taking a PHP and Flash development shop into a Microsoft stack shop after a total of 8 interviews the deal was signed and i was moving to Auckland! The next couple of month were frantic! I had two cars and a apartment and garage load of stuff to pack / sell / give away, In the end the 2 cars sold in the last week of being in the country! We moved over on the 15th of January and have been living on queen st since having a awesome time exploring Auckland and have a generally awesome time, next week we will be moving to a great townhouse in Avondale! On to the car! Last weekend i had the realisation that with us moving to Avondale, me working in the city and my partner working near the airport we would need two cars (her car was on its way through compliance, a '12 a3 1.8T) so i decided to spend Saturday trawling K Road dealerships for something to catch my eye. One of my previous cars being a lexus i decided that that would be the first port of call, i laid my eyes on the new RC 350 for the first time.. beautiful car, took it for a drive and it was stunning, BUT the price tag was over $110,000! Way out of my price range. Next up i moved on to VW, to try out a Golf R... $70,000, it was quick, ok inside but ultimately ugly as a toad and not RWD. Meh. Then there was the Porsche dealership, the 03' 911 caught my eye, nice shape, great performance, $99,000 price tag, just not worth it. Audi was next, RS4... amazing, RS6s even more so, but again was not able to justify any of the price tags. I even went to Toyota, $50,000+ORC for a FT86, you have to be kidding me! I had heard there were some dealerships on Great North road, so of we went up the road. The first used car dealership i dropped into finally sparked my interest! They had a E55 and a E46 M3 both for under $30k! Now were talking i spent some time taking to the sales person, mainly about cars in general and not so much the two he had. They were of to Hampton downs the next day to race their Toyota (didnt ask the model). I decided to keep walking along to see what else was around, i found another dealership and started wandering around, i was quickly approached by a salesman who after a couple of questions showed me a '08 E90 335i in Montego blue! Stunning outside, luxurious inside, i was feeling good! Time for a test drive we jumped in and off we went for a spin up the highway, needless to say, i was thinking this is the car for me. The car was very smooth (i had come from a daily car with circuit coilovers) had great acceleration and was very well planted on the road. We pulled back into the dealership and i started looking through the car. everything looked great but then i got to the back seats, uhoh... i cant see a button to fold them down! This was one of my requirements so i could take snowboard in the back and i started feeling quite disappointed. The salesman was telling me its easy to unbolt the seats The price started plummeting as the general manager was trying to buy the car regardless, i looked in the boot and saw the 2/1 split in the seat.. AHAH! I jumped on my phone and went to google, as you all probably know, there is a latch in the boot that releases the back seats! And that was it, i was now 100% sold. I put down a deposit started transferring funds from Aus for the remaining. Whist i was waiting for the deposit to come through i started swooning for hours over the car on e90post, reading about maintenance and modifications. I then thought i would check out trademe and see what parts were up for sale locally. Just my luck! There was a brand new VRSF 7" intercooler for sale! I then read a bit more and it turned out the owner was selling his 335i and had some more kit that he was also selling off. He also had a BMS OCC and DCI! So off i went, 1 day after putting down the deposit on the car to get the first 3 mods . I picked up the car on Wednesday and for the past 3 nights i have just been driving. I am so happy with the car and cannot wait to spend some time working on it. So far i have also ordered: - JB4 G5 ISO + USB + SLD - Bavarian Technic Enthusiast Cable - Thin wall sparkplug socket + 6 new plugs - BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface Fun times ahead From what i can tell about the car so far, it seems to have - Comfort access package - Supersprint full exhaust Pics: And my previous cars back in Aus A '03 IS300, heavily modified suspension, 3" full exhaust, quite a few TRD parts, work wheels And a 1994 Nissan Cedric Gran Turismo, way way way to much work to list:

1 pointIt's too simplistic. Average wage in Auckland for example, is higher than small town mid North Island towns, but the cost of living is higher so their disposable income is probably much of a muchness. A higher fine would potentially hit them harder. Most of the people I know that earn a lot more than me, have also borrowed a lot more than me so they don't really have any more actual cash in hand. I think we just need to be tough on sh*t driving and tough on repeat offending. You only have to watch one of the reality cop shows to see that repeat offenders continue to repeat offend with little or no penalty. Sure, their license gets suspended but no-one checks if they're still driving. Just read this morning that one of the key-taking douches didn't have a license. Go NZ double standards!

1 pointthey all seam to go , have seen quite a few go between 220-280 k's and have heard of the odd one going at 150k's etc .(maybe swapped out cluster etc) but they will all wear out , bad design really using a narrow single row chain which grinds its way through the plastic guides not the old M60 engines with a duplex chain setup running past a idler sprocket if maintained will do double the k's of the m62 before needing doing

1 pointThere's a need to differentiate between an income-based application of penalty, and a penalty applied on the basis of ability to pay. They're not the same thing.

1 pointI was waiting for it, I really was. Its a case of having the latest and then going going backwards. Like going from a I-Phone 6 to a I-Phone 4, the little improvements you end up taking for granted that you do miss, it seemed stupid having to insert a clumsy fob in a hole that is obscured by the steering wheel and then having to hit a start button, that makes less sence than just having a traditional ignition barrel, at least thats one step, insert, turn. By your hilariously sarcastic logic, lets consider not have remote locking, meaning you need to use a key in the door lock... hell, why even have central locking when you can reach across and unlock the passenger doors. When a car is your daily, its the toys that make the difference, and I am a technology geek that loves gizmos and options, and I would keep the car for a few years. Can any E90 owners give opinions on what are desired options on this car? The car I drove had EDC, I thought this seemed like valuable option to have, can not see how many have it optioned. The car was a manual, would like to drive the automatic car also. Thanks for your advice in advance.

1 pointTook the M3 down to the Ardmore Showdown, Wings VS Wheels on Sunday. Great day, had loads of fun with a good set of controlled, fun drags. Maybe this bunch on here will appreciate the beauty of an M3 wasting everything in it's path, but it seemed the ECC crew didn't support it as much... Tough sh*t. Results from yesterday. M3 vs Holden SS = Won M3 vs R32 GTR = Won M3 vs 2nd Gen Subaru STI = Won M3 vs Supra Twin Turbo = Won M3 vs Schnitzer = Won M3 vs Audi S6 = Won M3 vs E60 M5 = Lost. Pleased to have lost in the presence of it's big sister. For a Stock M3 (apart from a splash of black Plasti Dip) I was stoked to walk away from every race with a smile on my face.. and with the shock of the crowd looking on. Can't say the JDM boys were happy to be beaten by not only a BMW, but a Girl too. Fantastic day overall! Loved it and can't wait for more M3 will be heading down to HellBM for all it's maintenance (Subframe, Diff Mounts, Service etc) that I can fill up the budget with this week, so will be good to go. Man, that car handled it like a champ, and didn't even use Launch Control! Schnitzer came along too for some fun. She sadly lost every race entered (HAHAHAH) (M3 vs Holden SS - Excuse language)

1 pointIf you have to start looking in those areas.....it's too late. Get someone to check it properly before it gets to that stage.

1 pointdont think hiding is the right word. sheild maybe. haha yea did you see top gear last night? they had a little scetch thing about that. Its a case of equalising the impact, $200 fine for someone with $150 disposble income that week, is a lot more than someone with $1500 or $15000 disposable income. Hence why i support the lowering of fines and increase of demerit points, not for myself of course, but as a country, its a better policy.

1 pointWhy is this a good idea exactly? Is it "more" of a crime for a high earner to be doing 120 than someone without an income doing exactly the same thing? Answer is clearly no. It's just seen as a good idea by those who are jealous of those that have more than them.
