4 pointsMy dear ol dad, (some of you racers may have met him and my mum at the race track ) is in his mid 80s! Has watched me own and race many BMWs, wel he has just bought his first BMW, it's a 2011 325i. Bought it from Gullivers in New Market, and boy talk about VIP treatment. We went to look at the car took it for a ride 21k on tge clock, Asked them to convert gps and radio all accepted. They are Japanese staff? They were very polite and went over the whole car with us. We signed up to collect thursdsy and there was the whole staff to greet and shake hands befire we left. We drove off the lot in my car and they all lined up on the foot path to wave us away while one guy walked to the middle of the side street and stopped the traffic while we turned out. Dad picked up the car today and had a full on presentation unveiling ceremony, the car was under a big black silk cloth. They took his photo with the car upon hand over. He was blown away, best used car transaction ever in our experience!!! I've never bought a new car from BMW but as far as I know it's not as good as that. Well done to Gullivers. If you want top service go there.

4 pointsIt's Japanese common courtesy in the service industry. You will even see this kind of service at petrol stations in Japan. they will pump your gas, check tire pressures, wash windows and check fluids. and when you drive out, some will guide you out of traffic and if you look through the rear view mirror, you will see them bowing with their hats off.

3 pointsNo more for now..lol. I have a 1/4 acre paddock out the back that I'm NOT going to fill up with E38's. NO MORE E38's FOR DAVE

2 pointsWould highly suggest not watching season one of true detective if you are trying to quit. I have cut back a heap on how much I smoke now, a pack will last me close to a fortnight , but holy hell I binge watched three episodes in a row and all I wanted to do at the end of it was chain smoke a pack!
-
2 pointsWould probably make me a bit uncomfortable personally, but that's a great story, certainly sounds as though they treat their customers well.
-
2 pointsYou're probably right, such politeness sounds very japanese to me! I visited Japan in May so can talk from experience. When we were flying out of Japan I looked out of the plane window to see about 10 members of the ground crew waving us goodbye

2 pointsno worries at all. Yes I did use. it was on the crease line on the door I wasn't holding out much hope TBH. But I was pleasently surprised with the results. I could still see it. But i'm a nut case. You never would see it unless you were looking, and had to get your face close to the car and look down the crease. All in all. Amazing. Was like $140 bucks if I recall and he did it in my work garage in a few hours. For that price it's worth the try even if he failed!

2 pointsRemoved this And put in this. Not much but it's the beginning of the Chromeline interior transplant. Also removed the back seats from the parts car and gave them a good clean. Ready to go in the 740i now but I've run out of time today. Works calling.

1 pointCongrats on his new car, good choice.... but i cant help but think the whole show sounds ridiculous and over the top wanky. Mind you, im the kind of buyer that would rather tell a salesman to get lost and deal with no one.

1 pointHOSTGE just followed my little compact into Exeter crescent in Palmy. Looking good even after I had passed you pulled over with bonnet and boot up just moments before!

1 pointso. some knuckle dragger has opened their door carelessly and given me a whack in a carpark. whilst I'm sure karma already has his number. any recommendations / experience as to how I get get this fixed? It's in the crease line of the passenger door. The rest looks like it will buff out, but there's a dent and the paint's been scraped back. mobile operations in the auckland area would be preferable. I don't have the time for a respray currently.

1 pointBit of an old thread. But you will get gains with a shielded cold air intake. Best to research designs or have a look at some of the race series cars if you ever have the chance.
-
1 pointI don't get why you would be against a cold air box, all it means is you are shielding the air intake from the warm engine bay air so it's drawing air through the grills or whet ever, which is colder. Being boxed in can amplify the induction sound too so why not? It's just pointless when you remove the OEM airbox which has a closed in filter, and a tube to get air from behind the headlights. They did it like that for a reason.

1 pointHad an awesome drive this weekend at the Coromandel peninsula, but had some Murphy's law moments prior to my trip start on Friday. The only hose I didn't replace on my cooling system decided to leak the day before (Thursday). I only found it by chance as my coolant level dropped a little bit overnight. It was the water hose that connects radiator to expansion tank, goes above the shroud. The hose clamp for some reason cut into the hose, causing it to leak. Luckily BM workshop was still open at the time so I managed to source a new replacement and fix that. Friday morning, CD changer decides to die. I had no intention of driving to Coromandel in silence so picked up a used one from Brent (BM World), an hour before heading out. I'm going to get a Dension Gateway 300 installed in the near future so I can use my ipod, usb etc. Anyway, this was the route I took for the trip: https://goo.gl/maps/5lyyb Awesome drive, I'd definitely recommend it. Also, the S001's handled awesome the entire time. Managed to test it on dry, wet and even gravel roads and they feel great. Grips very well during corners, quiet on the highways and behaved fine on gravel. I stayed at Matarangi but went out to discover some nice roads and beaches while there. Here's one route I took on Black Jack Rd (to Opito Bay) that was really nice: https://goo.gl/maps/LLFKE Note that a lot of that route is gravel, steep, narrow and high up on the cliff side. Here's a photo of Otama beach, which you drive past on that Black Jack rd route:
