Preping the engine bay for the Engine drop. Had to redo all the brake lines as im moving from a vacuum system to a hydraulic ABS system. The brake callipers should be fine after having them looked at by the guys at Sterling. So fingers crossed the car actually stops. Now, since the car will be Fly by Wire rather then cable throttle, I have been scratching my head on how I was going to mount the throttle controller under the dash or even on the gas pedal as there isn't any real space or mounts on the pedal box. I was going to have to get a complete custom box fabricated up from somewhere, But then while I was doing the brake lines, I notice that the old throttle system that used a unique way of pulling the cable, will work perfectly with the electric throttle controller. I don't think I could have made it any easier. The only thing ill need to do is fabricate a brace mount for it and a longer cross piece to pull the bar. Ill have to do this once the engine goes in this weekend so I can see spacing requirements etc

Using a trans on borrowed time that you intend in swapping out is at least good practice for doing the job! The guibo's in auto cars tend to last longer than manual cars. If it's not cracked at all i'd say leave it.

Still cheaper than a D4D Hilux injector , and required less often!

Simple answers: S50 cams will physically fit but you still need a bit of machining and the correct lifters. Ideally you should have bought the matched lifters and trays with the bearing blocks. If boosting the engine use the B28 crank in the iron block, though i don't understand why you're bothering with hotter cams if you're turbocharging. Longer duration cams = power curve shifting to the right. In your position I'd look for an M54B30 crank, might as well go for maximum displacement while you're in there. Google Steve Murch, MSE Engineering. NZ agent for Holset & knows a thing or two about boosting bimmers. Good luck

There's gotta be something... (He said hopefully!) Lol I've done a bit of rim refurb in the past but not on split rims, and I did have access to a monster lathe (12' bed) at the time which made life a lot easier. Stripping the rims isn't an issue but I've no real idea how to go about tidying lips and such by hand.

Am going to remove my JB4 and switch my tune to the MHD app and getting a Protune for a E50+ map from Motiv Will re-install the JB4 and use it in conjunction with the MHD when I do the upgraded turbos Found a good article on some settings , and have coded the following out: http://www.onelapx1.com/blog/how-to-make-your-bmw-actually-fun Engine Power Reduction to Prevent Brake Disc Overheating (FLR) Brake Fading Compensation (HPS) Electronic Differential (AX_Ref_Diff_Lock) Will see how it goes on the track , the last one is really the one I am interested to see how it feels like as I have always thought something was interfering even when sitting with DTC / or totally off
