Went for a decent drive in the active sus V8 today, ended up on East Coast Road via Clevedon, Kawakawa Bay, Orere Point etc. Awesome!

Yeah, I was having heaps of problems reliably getting the power down, so couldn't get anywhere near my optimal. Just realised I never posted my Friday testing video up to this thread, since the below video I made some tweaks which dropped my optimal from 1:12.7 to 1:12.2, but still couldn't get a lap together and the added pace just made the tyres even harder to manage. My biggest problem was getting the power down out of the sweeper as you can probably see from the first clip

Would expect to see up around 14v at 2000 rpm with no loads switched on, but it will drop with all the load items going, this test is for alternator output under load, taken from the bentley manual.

can someone PS that image with an e24 please? it's nearly perfect.

Should be way over 12.6v @ 2000rpm. 12.8 is fully charged static, it ought to be charging @ 14v + on these cars. Was a different story years ago with the old Lucas ACR's where they were rated to 13.8v max & they were less efficient at idle. 500 rpm is very low for idle speed - i would expect it up around the 700 mark. Once excited, an alternator will generally stay in at idle & cover lights, not at 500 rpm though. Try holding about 700 -50 rpm & recheck charging voltage.

I finished 5th in the 1 hour, but was 3rd in the pitstop at 30min. Due to the stock fuel system and no pit crew I had to jump out to put 24L of fuel in, which cost enough time to drop the 2 positions. Managed to get maximum value from the slicks. Now to loose some weight, add a wing and turn it into a proper race car. Having a glance over the data, turns out more horsepower really helps, who would have guessed? nice work, John! Sorry didn't mean to sound as though I was doubting you; more about 'I wonder what wheels he's done that with, and how does it look? Total class, mate. Kia Ora for that!

Ok photos to prove 245/40/17 works on an E46 with an 8.5 wheel. However as I run coilovers (Ohlins) they are narrower in DIameter than a stock setup. http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r336/Herbmiester_photo/4bad53ea-2c88-4dd5-8dbb-03f80088b261_zpsiovuttoz.jpg

i know a few people that have used Wheel Magician multiple times, and we use them lots at work and the only issue i have heard was they once mismatched the color, but sorted that out easily. Havent heard of any flaking or peeling. My old boss had all 4 of his Evo X BBS wheels done multiple times without issue.

I used wheel magician many many years ago when i first brought my E34 touring, lasted very well for many years and only every flaked a bit around the wheel bolt holes but then i was taking the wheels off and on far more than what would be considered normal. having said that, yes it did flake, and I'm no painter but i suspect its because they don't in any way bake the paint on there etc as there is no room for an oven in the back of a Mitsi L300

So we ended up making our own socket extension with some steel tube and finally got the automatic transmission out, but what a mission. The surprising thing was the weight difference between the two. The automatic is 95 kg including torque converter and ZF manual only 36 kg (excluding clutch and flywheel).

Just thought I would let people know this was sold over the weekend. First person to come and view it paid and took delivery on the spot, obviously a great car! Was very sad to see her go but relieved at the same time I will be moving to London very shortly so let's see if I don't come back with something *cough* M3 *cough* in a few years time

if the wheel cleaner they use is anything like the stuff we have at work, its not really surprising. That sh*t is brutal, its proper acid. Works mint though!

But it didnt take off the original coating on the wheels, only the repaired stuff? Sounds to me like the prep work was sub-standard and the paint didnt adhere properly. Just my 2 cents.

Had same issue with clear coat lifting on polished Lip on ACS type ones a few years back. Very strong wheel wash at JGBMW

Any professional wheel repair should stand up to water blasting, and wheel cleaner should also be safe to use on any professionally painted wheel, i would be going back to wheel magician for a refund if it was those that have been damaged.

Hi everyone my name is Faizal I am from Wellington and after almost a decade of owning Audi's I have bought a BMW 335i Touring. Loving it so far although there are a few things that annoy me but nothing that coding can't fix. When I get some better photos I will share but for now, this is all I have.
