Isn't the point of this forum to share our 'tricks' and knowledge with other members so all can benefit? For what its worth, painting the logos on tyres is not something I like the look of, but others might and will want to know how to do it. Rant over.

To be honest, given the opinions of many on how "horrid" and stupid tyre lettering looked, I didn't even think people would ask how I did it, once I had done it! Other forums, not this one - you're all a lovely bunch on here Grout pen worked okay.. Whether it lasts is another story. I shall update as time goes on

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1079520215.htm Really tidy fairly well priced looking 728. Pretty high spec for the model with some nice unique options. Not the normal spec, although they did start to throw everything at them by 2001.

So I believe the throw out bearing seized, then probably collapsed, this causing no clutch at all when the pedal is pressed. Still engages if you put the car in gear with the engine off. So it looks like gearbox will be coming off, a bit annoying after just finishing the work but it's partially my fault for not doing the clutch while it was all out. I was trying to save some money! I'm now in the process of finding a single mass flywheel and clutch kit. Picked up a flywheel yesterday but it turns out that one is not ideal as it's essentially a remake of a dual mass in single mass form, if that makes sense. Hopefully the other one I've been offered will be the one I'm looking for. No one in NZ has any clutch kits for this anywhere, cheapest I have found is a LUK on ebay which will be around $550 including delivery and import tax. Includes spigot bearing and throw out bearing so not too bad. Ironic really as the one time I wanted to actually buy something locally, no one can help. Might pull the gearbox off next week since the car is just sitting now anyway.

There is a place in east tamaki on springs road who was ace on LPG conversions. But there days it's not worth it, even with the advances in LPG technogy going injection etc. back when LPG was 60-70 cents per litre compared to $1.70-80 for 91 ulp would have possibly made it viable as long as you are doing mega kays. Last time I looked LPG was anywhere between $1.25-1.65/l. Also consider that LPG robs the vehicle of low down torque and takes up usable storage space. Over the past ten years I've had two Falcons on LPG a 4.0 and a 5.4 and I ended up running them on petrol especially for towing. The 5.4 v8 had a decent vapor injection in it. Open road would return 9.0 on 91 and 11.5-12 on LPG. Also consider most people aren't going to want to touch a used E70 V8 running LPG. You still haven't laid out your purpose for this X5 you want to purchase. If it's to drive around Auckland like most of these mobile road blocks then save a good ten grand over the diesel or V8 and go the 3.0 petrol. Also consider DPF and their dislike for short distance city driving. If it's to tow and go open road occasionally then the 4.8'would be then winner. Regular towing and regular open road high mileage then the diesel would be the best bet. Work a petrol and they start to drink. Even if you can afford the gas of the V8, stopping every 600km to put in nearly $200 worth of fuel will get tiring trust me. If you don't need to tow anything decent then save a good 20 grand and go an E60 wagon. There's enough of these effn SUVs on the road as it is most of them full of retarded braindead drivers. In saying the the high end Euro stuff seems to have more switched on drivers than those horrible tacky jappa/Korean crap.

Silver 2007 530i saloon, travelling along Hingaia Road to the SH1 on ramp rego JTExxx (I know what the numbers are!) Nice car - pity about the driving. All those things 'other people' say about BMW drivers - this one is why. No indicators, impatient, cutting up other drivers to get into a lane, forcing other drivers to move or brake hard to avoid a collision. If you're on here, you should be ashamed. And please - don't do it to me again. I nearly did something I would now be regretting, regardless of whether I was justified or not. Be grateful I was at least awake (unlike so many at that time of morning) or you would have had a blue touring buried in your passenger door following one particularly ill-advised, un-indicated manoeuvre in moving traffic.

Found a bit of time today in the sun to do a bit more painting. Painted the grilles and wiper arms. All masked up and ready for paint: Looking better. I last painted the kidneys about 7 years ago when i first owned the car... time to give them a freshen up. All back together and looking smart. Also changed the oil and replaced the driver's side foglight which had rusted out. And finally a sneak peak at the first pieces acquired for a special project. Watch this space.

ha hah, "Noofies". Manitobans have an inferiority complex about being from Manifrozba, but Noofies are at the absolute bottom of the pecking order in Caaanada, eh.
