4 pointsStory: So i purchased my 2nd E28 around 10 years ago now and had the plan to turbo the car but life got in the way and i had to move oversea's for last 6/7 years...So it sat in the garage next to my alfa 33 (w 1.7ltr sud engine) Now im back in NZ i have decided that i am going to dedicate myself to doing up the e28 over the next year or so then possibly sell the car but who knows (sure ill make a loss). I am trying to do as much myself, and on the cheapish Current: M30b35 from E32 (Stock) 5 Speed Manual Transmission Crap ratio rear diff ( ex auto car so great for burnouts in 1st . 2nd) Biggest stock bmw brakes i could fit under 15" rims (believe 735i & 540) Stock Suspension Exhaust - 2" twin pipe or 3" Straight off old e28 ECU - MS2 + Air temp sensor + o2 The plan: Engine - 55 lbs Injectors / FPR / MLS or Cooper Ring Head Gasket / Block (Stock for now) / Head (Stock for now) Engine Mount - Right side custom (dependant on space required) Suspension - JRZ Coilovers (or similar) , Sway bars Intake - Now Either ITB setup from M5 or Custom 2JZ Exhaust - Custom 2 x 2" - 2.5" full exhaust Driveline - LSD 3.97 (dependent on power output) / Balanced drive shaft Bushings - New all around Cage - Half / Full cage Paint - Touch up / undercarriage repaint (have a custom color in mind but $$$ dependent & access to booth) Induction - T3 Twin Scroll - HSR40RS (lightened compressor wheel) Insides - Seats refurbished / New carpet (due to leaky battery one of my family members put in there while i was oversea's) I'm in the manawatu area, so just giving a shout out as im sure i will need help down the track as im not superman haha. I will update this as i go through the build. Update 4.0: So not much has gone on since august due to issues with parts, but fuel system images below and manifold is now ready to be finalised. There is going to be another delay once completed due to having to sell another project to re-finance this one

4 points728i is a nice drive - I've had mine for 10 years. It turns from lazy cruiser to into a reasonably rapid lounge if you rev it.....not that much torque low down. Fast enough to go places.

2 pointsstatistically, one of niu zillund's most enduring pastimes is known as "messing around in boats" couple that with kiwis being tightwads, only the one-percenters (or successful plumbers) shell out for marina moorings. Peasants use trailer sailers or fizz boats; the rest are left with a wet solution. Thus, there is a constant demand for deep water or 'swing' moorings. The requirement for a successful mooring is a large lump of useless, valueless scrap metal on which to secure the yacht or launch in question. It is for this purpose that lexus and toyota powerplants have become renowned. Their time on the open market really is 'blink and you'll miss it'. This kind of market velocity has even the most cold-hearted Auckland Real Estate Agent looking on in awe.

1 pointHi Just bought a 1982 323i. Not my first classic but my first BMW. It is very tidy, and will be a weekend car. Had it checked over and needs just a few maintenance items updated, but seems to drive well. I will probably get the initial stuff done through a shop, then slowly take over the easy stuff myself once I know the car better. It has had the single headlight installed but comes with the original double setup. Photo is from a previous owner, as I don't pick it up until Saturday.

1 pointMassive thanks to both John and Andrew. Turns out I must've had a bad copy, as I got another .ISO file last night, opened VM Machine, pointed the operating system to the new ISO file and.... lo and behold, EasyDIS installed..... then GT1............ So next step (sometime over the weekend lol) will be to work through all the advice here on the settings, then I can test it out. Again, thanks to both for your input and help, it's very much appreciated!

1 pointYour 750i shares DNA with Herbie and is making sure you don't sell her. Say nice things like you will love her forever and she will treat you right.....try to ditch her and expect payback.....,,

1 pointDamn you Murphy. What the heck. Had someone want to see the car so I start it up and drive to his place. Go for a drive with him to give him a feel for the car and all was good. Stopped for a while and talked about his nice e34 540i. Got in the 750i to leave. Started it up and it went poof in a cloud of steam on his driveway. Wow. Blew the top radiator hose. if it wasn't so comical I might be annoyed..

1 pointNew Mustangs also have that door light shite, the epitome off tacky.
-
1 pointWhat's with all the photos of his carputer screen too... So much tacky... ...is it irredeemably wrong that I still want them?
-
1 pointJust installed some D2 coilovers on the car and have been really happy with the end result! It has made the car a lot more fun to drive (esp through the twisties ). It's now time to get a certification and all the places I have contacted have quoted me between $500-600 minimum. Reading through other various NZ car forums I've seen others been quoted for a lot less and would like to know what others on this forum have paid in the past for the same cert, and perhaps what location that was in?

1 pointThose projector light things are now a genuine accessory/option on new Mercs. One of the guys high up at Merc NZ asked what i think of them, he was deeply disappointed when i told him they are tacky and look like some cheap chinese sh*t off ebay that people with no taste stick on their car. lolololol

1 pointGod those door lights have got to be the most tacky things you can purchase for a car.

1 pointThanks Dave, im just trying to finish the last bit of nancey wiring, merging digital and analog systems together is quite mind numbing, but hoping to have that finished this weekend, then get it started. Once its started I can get the drive shafts made up and then take it for a test drive haha The ute is coming along very slowly, they guy helping with the welding of the rear sail and restructuring of the chassis, is taking his sweet as time, so I might actually look at hiring someone else with decent fabrication skills to get the beats done. I have some new progress photos to upload, so ill do it this weekend

1 pointYou beat me to it Brent but heres another one. il touring. This one looks more like a hease than a touring..lol
-
1 pointTook her out for a drive tonight. Thought bugger it! Just round the block of course. After driving Simon's STI for the last month then jumping back into the Touring, you can certainly notice the difference. Less brake feel, boaty steering, different clutch feel. A few bunny hops I must admit! But I wouldn't dare give the E30 up. Though with the luck I've had lately it's starting to feel that I should! Left low-beam headlight keeps blowing. Checked the fuse and that's fine, as soon as I put the new bulb in it blows. We will get there eventually with the car, but this is a big problem as I hate to be the one on the road with a bulb out. Time to step back, breath a little then take another look on the weekend in daylight.

1 pointWhy would you put a DCT shift knob in a non-DCT car? Seen it all now..
-
1 pointWow time flys..... 2yrs doesn't feel like that long ago I was finishing up and enjoying cruzing around The stock engine has held up good at 12psi boost and I'm still giving it hell with over 15 drift days So now brings me to the next stage in the project, track car. I've been going to the race series with my brother and it's awesome just helping out, I'd imagine it would be even more fun racing Over the next little while I'll be transforming my car, first step is getting the right wheels and tyres... I've managed to pick up some 17x9.5 et20 front and rear so a square set up this should get me around the corners a bit quicker, wanting to run 265/625/17 Dunlop slicks Test fitting is in the pics below I'm going to try keep this up to date with progress and failures along the way

1 pointWell that's a tricky question but easily answered. There is mechanical horsepower (HP as we know it) and metric horsepower (PS). As we are talking Germany they are quoting metric horsepower. The output of a MY10-13 F10 535i is 306PS (metric horsepower) or 302 (mechanical horsepower). So 306 metric horsepower plus 77 (metric) horsepower for the piggy back = 383PS or simply 'HP' as the Europeans just assume everyone speaks metric. Same deal for newton metres - the Jerries are speaking the metric equivalent of ft/pounds.

1 pointPretty cool a 16 year old uber sedan can still keep up with the latest and greatest.
