Have been meaning to make a replacement set of headers for the e36 for a while now, and finally got started on it, it will be good practice for when i do the same thing in the e21, Laser cut flanges, U bends and donuts, all 44mm OD. Jig to hold flanges in factory locations homemade former to shape the ends of the primary tubes primary tube pressed over former to shape end first 2 cylinders... all 4 started, test fitted at this stage, clears steering shaft (just) welding up each pipe individually before welding to flanges... will post more photos when i make some more progress.

Took my car to the garage Yesterday to change the oil and filter in the automatic gearbox, and they couldn't find the filling bun so they didn't do it :-(

You had it in one mate - my 'alcantara' turned up and it's rubbish quality haha. I'd actually be embarrassed to put up a photo let alone try sell it. To the bin!

i have found that too Olaf. I only use Penrite as well, the only brand i have used that comes out after 10,000km in a state I am happy with. Use it for all the cars in the work fleet as well as my own fleet.

Best "suspension upgrade" is replacing the runflats with regular tyres. MSport is a great option to have, note it can come with an oil cooler too which probably helps if you like to thrash it (the main reason you'd get a 335i really). Charge pipes explode soon after an engine tune, so replace that before you do anything. Mine lasted only a few weeks weeks after a Performance Power Kit flash. Have it inspected for turbo oil leaks and wastegate rattle, otherwise spare about $4k for a turbo replacement.

it was a couple of days ago really. put my e46 in to get that annoying water leak in my washer reservoir sorted. It leaks through the pump and into the frame rail - not good! Page European replaced the pump and cleaned the whole lot out, flushed the lines, refilled with BMW washer fluid. Running like a bought one, which it is. And they've identified the broken spring (see other thread) . I asked them to give the suspension a going through, clean bill of health, so it's on to the springs in short order. Oh, and get a new sump gasket and engine and trans mounts (do them while the subframe's dropped), ready for sortng out that remaining oil leak. PS - it's too f%&king cold for working on my vehicle outdoors. So I'm very happy to support my local independent... If I had a garage, it'd be different for the simple jobs...

I went into Repco for one of their sales, asked if they had a box of 4 x 5 litre Penrite 5w40 Synthetic (HPR5). He said "why not buy a drum, we don't discount but it's less pricey than buying that box of 20 litres, even on sale". So I did. The HPR05020 comes in at close to ten bucks per litre. not wanting to turn this into a 'oil y is better than oil x', suggest buying in larger containers will work for anyone. 20L of Fuchs ATF to flush the trans in my volvo was way cheaper than buying 4L packs retail. Last weekend I went up to Bimmerfest East in New Jersey from my home in DC. I don't own a car here yet as I haven't had a need for one and have been doing a ton of travel with little time. So we quite often rent a car from a peer to peer rental company called Turo. If you have a spare car or are not using yours and want to make some money, this is where you list it. Ranging from junk like Toyota Prius right up to the latest Ferrari's. Great thing is there are plenty of BMW's. And this time I went for something practical that would still be interesting. So we grabbed a cheap E60 550i Motorsport. Manual. Yep unlike NZ many of the BMW's are still manual. Sadly the 2016 M3 I wanted was being used. 550i was $85 per day and the M3 is $109 per day. And these are peoples cars so they are looked after. Before heading up to Bimmerfest we went to a very popular local Cars and Coffee event called Katies Cars and Coffee. It is a little coffee house just up the Potomac River which has some nice winding roads through the forest on the way there. Being close to DC there is pretty nice cars that turn up. I took a whole heap of photos on my crap point and shoot. Click the link. I was a bit gutted to see a whole bunch of E30 M3's hooning their way there after I had to leave early to get on my way north. Next time. https://goo.gl/photos/QzJWDBgKwxSrnLPw5 The drive up to New Jersey was interesting though. There were a lot of others heading up there in their BMW's also. But the driving was pretty bullshit really. Every stereotype that comes with owning a BMW was on display. There were even groups racing. I have never seen less indicating, more cutting off, tailgating and general sh*t "My cars ability is the only driving skills I have" in my life. But apparently this is all normal here. The event itself is a two day one. It is at Raceway Park which has both a Drag strip and a circuit track. Sunday is usually the busiest day but Saturday had filled out nicely too. The quality of the cars was pretty high. Most of the cars were newer models and most of them were M cars. There would have been a good 30ish M4's. And the new M2 was featured quite well too. Quite a few done up M2's already. Some of the tuning houses were there too. And the big parts suppliers. BMW had their own stand and even brought along Bikes. They were doing some VR thing and having people sit of the bikes for immersion. Drag racing was not bad. There was a turbo E46 M3 running 9's. And a couple of E60 M5's screaming their way into the low 11's. Once again here is some photos from the event. https://goo.gl/photos/mGEmp23ZGRipNUVo6 Till the next event. No doubt some more of Katies Cars and Coffee for the variety. Also trying to plan to meet the RoadKill crew at some stage.

progress Today I picked up the push rod to change gears. I've had to extend the linkage between the gearbox and the shifter as the seat is as far back as I can get it. the short linkage is uuc, the long is a copy from a friend. SSSHHHH. don't tell. Its 315mm long from hole to hole. The other part is the adaptor to hold the rear brake callipers in place as they are not factory fit. This still has some work before I'm happy. Shifter is from https://www.facebook.com/npparts.lt/ cool guy. And you got to train the young.

They can always read in the 300 other places you posted it. MEH! The reality is nobody cared that you: got a price from them didn't like the price didn't use them whinged about it If it's cheaper in Europe, TAKE YOUR CAR THERE. Spend the weekend driving around Auckland complaining about the house and rent prices and see if you can get a half price deal somwehere. They'll all laugh at you too

Haha oh lordy, maybe lift the car off the ground and let the suspension hang at full droop and then check.
