Yes it's the oil tank for the engine. The tank can hold 8l but only holds around 4-4.5 l while running as the extra oil is circulating around the engine, filter, pump and oil lines. The only pic I took while I was making the tank

You obviously did which is why you don't own it... just like the person who offered $17k doesn't own it either . It is for sale but I won't be giving it away. Now if you came up with what I countered with then you could turn it into anything you want haha (I am being somewhat sarcastic here). Took it for a 300km round trip 'Sunday drive' to the Shannon/Palmy North - someone please remind me why I'm selling this again .

Today I went test driving cars, and I hoped in 2007 120i. As usual, I pushed the seat right back, which seemed a natural fit. There can't of been more than 10 cm between the front of the back and the back of the front. For me, that counts the Bmw out sadly. On a side note we are looking into 2014ish Ford Focus Sport.

In case anyone is interested the head won and I went with a 2l, manual, 06 Ford Focus Zetec. After a couple of months it's doing around 6.2l/100km which means just over 800km to a tank costing $96. It's surprising nice to drive to be honest. Nothing special but it's comfortable (I'm 6'5) and can fit four large kids in easily enough.

So another update of whats happened so far! The first thing that has happened since fitting the rims, is the fitment of some sedan/coupe projector headlights, and since swapping over I have all of a sudden realized how terrible the stock Ti ones really were!!!! My M3 sedan mirrors finally got clear coated and fitted up, I'm in love with the look and also the addition of the lower front lip from the dealership earlier this week really helps to make the car look the little bit more aggressive from the front! So yesterday I took the wee red beast along to a dyno day! All that has been done to the engine is a K&N panel filter and different muffler, so wasn't expecting anything silly just trying to figure out how healthy the engine was. Well it shocked me that it managed to come out at 128.5 kw at the rear wheels!!! Dyno sheet is attached, that means it hasn't lost any of its horses over its lifetime and it definitely feels like it hasn't! Now whats left on the list of things to do/wishlist? Well at the meet I did see a nice Honda Integra with a b18c with a centrifugal supercharger setup off where the ac pump used to be, running an intercooler and then up to the throttle body, that kind of setup is what I have had in mind for the way things would be laid out to do it to the Ti, however the cost involved is a slippery slope for that, I think the power bug has bitten.... I also need to go lower on the front so looking at going to some fully adjustable suspension, or potentially some Eibach lowering springs, something to make it sit slightly lower. Bucket seats or Vaders, something that will hold me in better than whats currently in there but is still comfy AC Schnitzer rear lip LSD Currently daily driving it and doing well over 500km a week, $135 a week in gas is gettting costly.... kinda thinking of getting a cheap daily that uses no fuel, that way more silly things can be done to this one

Productive day today! Removed and sold my blue recaro seats Have money in the budget to fix up my black sets driver bolster, so those will go in the car eventually! Moved the M30 back to my place and got it in the engine bay for a test fit. Just realised I don't have trans bolts so if anyone has some lying around?? M3 (S14) flywheel resurfaced, M20 clutch kit and cleaned up G240 ready to go together also Will remove and finish res praying the engine bay hopefully in the next fortnight

Well after 2000k's of driving the clutch is getting a positive review. Great for spirited driving at this very low power level. Spent 3 hours in stop and start traffic in Auckland. It wasn't pleasant, it wasn't elegant but I got through to the other side. On the downside i've broken things. Getrag number 2 very rapidly developed noise on Thursday. Noise is only apparent when i'm in 2nd 3rd or 4th. So thinking it is the bearings in the layshaft. This now brings me to having 2 noisy getrag 220 boxes. The first one I believe is just an input bearing problem. I've also started ripping the subframe (I've repaired a couple of these so far so not really a big problem) and some of the bushings have really had it in the back. Current thoughts are to put the zf box from the other car into this one and pull the subframe while i'm at it. Not sure if I can be bothered rebuilding the getrag boxes. If I could find the tis repair manual that'd be helpful and might sway me. I'm also off to Europe in a month. So maybe I'll do some shopping there. Maybe find another few zf boxes or a 6 speed. I'll make another thread for this. So I think i'm going to be on my bike again...

make sure you keep the power steering system serviced. My Aunty had one, same year i think a bigger motor than the 1.6 tho?? and the "scout" which is the 4x4 spec. Power steering rack failed out of warranty was moonbeams to repair and they know Gazley personally (i have heard but a few stories lol). car uneconomical to repair so traded in on a Renault badged Nissan. not sure if the Skoda ever went back the road. They did love it when they had it tho

I got up early today and: got a four wheel alignment at Bridgestone Torrens Tce. much better! changed oil and filter on the e46 at 175936kms (Mann filter, new crush washer and o-rings, 6.5l of Penrite HPR5 5W40 synthetic) washed exterior (Caltex no-touch carwash), rain-x'd the windscreen vacuumed and cleaned the interior I can't access my street frontage due to road works, so resorted to the no-touch car wash to get some of the filth off of my car. ... and I scored another 20 litre drum of Penrite HPR5. $165 incl GST this weekend (Repco 20% sale) that's $8.25 per litre!

Thanks I'm going with the staggered setup that Apex recommended me: 18" Staggered: F: 18x9" ET30 (Profile 3) - 235/40-18 R: 18x9.5" ET35 (Profile 3) - 265/35-18 So I'm hoping it looks like it does on that M3. ETA is about 6-8 weeks. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on tyres to fit them.

Just looked at the other thread and old TradeMe listing - here's the 'before' picture of the seats... dramatic change for sure. Do like E36 M3s ....

I think that is a 6201 bearing, twin rubber seals. Should be able to get a replacement one from engineering hardware places (take old one in to double check sizing and spec), SKF, NSK, FAG are quality brands.
