Hey - signed up a few months ago and have been stalking since - thought it was time to introduce myself! Picked up my first BMW, a 2000 E46 325i touring a couple of months ago. Got off to a rough start (literally, though still haven't 100% solved it) but have completely fallen in love with it. Cheers, Dan

Hey all you groovy e60 owners! I have an excellent condition Owners Handbook for First Gen e60 525i 530i 545i for sale. Buying one new from the dealer will sting you $128 ouch! Why not buy mine instead. You can put your savings toward some fine car care products from @Barryn A mere snip at $50 including GST and post to anywhere in NZ. I should mention, it's in English too! "You know it makes sense".

my friend had one in the 90's, purchased in TX, and brought south. It was a good car. It's not a 325i, doesn't have that dynamic performance, and is a different style to a 318i, with bags more torque. Think 525/528e in an e30. @eliongater can tell you all about the eta (efficiency) motor. I think that car is scarily over-priced. Sat for ten years, pumped up the tyres (yeah they seem to have flat spots)... $5k5 one wonders if it was sympathetically recommissioned (all fluids replaced).... or what else has been skimped on? A chancer doing a flip, I reckon. and 250k kms, and coffee coloured? It'd be a reasonable commuter box at $2k or thereabouts. World's gone mad.

Data Reading========/////////////////============>Diagnosis One's simple and uses primary school skills. The other requires an understanding of the systems and component interrelationships. EDIT - and perhaps a smattering of spelling?

Got it back yesterday. New plugs and replacement cat fitted (well that's what I was told). Hopefully I get more than a couple of days before another engine light reappearance lol

if it was an e60, it'd still be fixable though the insurers wouldn't likely proceed due to high costs. Gotta love a e46. Every home should have one!

have seen many of these on different forums. To make this more inclusive it would have been better to of simply said "Your BMW out side a museum" then every one can play the game. historic photos are also cheating.

Or errr as you say, just buy an e60? ? Nahhh, I'm not serious. I've paid less than a used Commodore for an autobahnstorming panzerwagen that has an appetite for sympathetic maintenance. I feel this is one of the best value cars I've owned, and I've owned 3 Nissans long-term! Yes it's three times the cost - used - of a used Nissan Maxima... yet it offers three times the driving experience, performance, safety, fun... probably second to a maxima in maintenance costs only. I'm McLovin it.

I'd say it's $500 to $1500 cheaper than normal for such an example yeah.

BMW are all about the driving experience right? so I've had plans for the wheel, shifter and seat for a while now. First on the list was an Alcantara wheel, and after researching the options i decided to go for a Coby wheel - www.cobywheel.com. They actually apply alcantara over the existing wheel which makes it a little thicker (something i was after) and its one of the cheapest options out there. I opted for the exchange, where they send me a recovered wheel and then i swap it out and send my old one back to them. Mike from Coby is good dude to deal with. The wheel arrived today and i was able to fit it in about 30mins. Really happy with the feel and quality of work.

Spent the morning playing with various parts of the intake - checked the little rubber things on the back of the inlet manifold, they're all good. Buut @zero, I think you were onto it with the DISA there - rebuilt the gasket (the electronics in the old one don't work) - and my idle is back to buttery smooth, even when in drive and my foot is on the brake when it normally shuddered a bit. Will see how it goes over the next few days... But... THANK YOU SO MUCH! Should also add that it appears there's way less... Air... rushing... When you undo the oil cap when car is running now too

@allan - will check those out tomorrow and report back, cheers! @Olaf - have INPA up and running + have used my mates auto sparky tools. Appear to get misfires across random cylinders, only one at a time, moves about depending on day. Have moved coils around to no avail. INPA is also reporting pre cat O2 sensor heating element failures which sometimes throws an engine light. Will plug into car tomorrow and see if what's stored thanks heapsfor your help so far everyone, really appreciate it!

eventually they get to where they entertain each other, or argue about who has the chore of passing Dad spanners/rags/oil filters and learning about torque wrenches (whether they like it or not). Good luck for the birth!
