Hi Michael i'd say it would be just some custom engine mounts really just like any other swap and yes the sump does need to be modified. This is why i have gone with the dry sump setup, if you have a look at the pictures i posted of the sump that i am getting, it makes for so much more room for sump clearance as there pretty much is no sump. So in saying that Nathan this will allow me to mount the motor as low as possible which i'm hoping to give me a bit more room to make some decent exhaust headers. worst case make something similar to the s85 v10 manifolds

Sound like you need to try an BMW s1000rr.

Maybe not. I watched a clip of Mr Koneigsegg explaining his new cylinder head revolution using valve actuators. Looked really interesting as there were some awesome advantages vs traditional timed camshaft operated valves. How much oil does the world really have left before we get to listen to muted performance cars?? Hopefully plenty. Considered an e60 M5?

Christ... that picture reminds me of the rabbit I shot this morning with the magnum....intestines everywhere

You can't in NZ Nathan. The inner guards are structural and support the strut mount. You would need an engineering report, design and certification for any modification

H h h h hi all . . . . my name is Wessel. I have a serious Beamer problem, not an addiction. Its only an addiction if you want to stop but can't AND I DON"T WANT TO STOP!!!! Just wanted to introduce my self. Buying my first BMW in New Zealand tomorrow (2003 e46 330Ci) will give it a clean and post some proper pics tomorrow. My wish list would be e60 M5 (got to love that 10) and e46 m3. Cheers.

Hiya, have done some searching and have noticed that the car is indeed listed on Mannheim. Appears to have been listed yesterday. 2002 BMW 330d. I can give you full details of car damage if you want. Cheers, Graeme

Perhaps I need to bring some balance into my life... Two Holden V8's and two BMW V8's . I did contemplate the possibility, but unfortunately I need to be 'sensible' at this point in time haha. Although me thinks this would be a great base for an eventual 6sp conversion...

Awesome project! Looking forward to more progress. Wonder how much faffing is required to fit dohc heads??

I think this is like saying is the carbureted engine dead? Having seen manufactures move to EFI over the last 30 years. While they don't make them anymore there's still a huge following for those older era cars with such, and specialists that rebuild them etc. Factory NA cars may disappear from showroom floors, but the good ones will get a cult following stronger than ever before.

Hey ZERO i'm not sure what m62 manifolds look like but the m73 v12 ones are a 3 into 1 then with 2 sets into another one and are a log style. haha GLENN it does look abit like guts. Thanks Richard you also have a great name too as for the exhaust pictured the are a factory s85 v10 manifold so won't be putting them on my motor but would make something similar if space was an issue.

    M62 is a V8..M73 is a V12

All of the lollipop type bushes have alignment marks. If they don't, buy a better brand. Solids are better, however more work is involved fitting them and locking them into position. I've done heaps over the years. Been a while though

I know the 328i ones also have the alignment arrow but I'm not sure if that helps you?

Hi everybody! Interested in peoples' opinions around the BMW Car Club ... Is it worth belonging? Where does it have momentum? How do they organise things if they don't have anything like BimmerSport? What's the relationship between BimmerSport and the Club- is it 'competitive' or complementary? BimmerSport is a fantastic community and has increased my enjoyment of the BMW experience significantly. I don't want to do anything that works against that.... I'm asking because I'm considering joining the Club and maybe trying to kick start it again in Wellington - and I reckon there's a good complementary proposition that could get extra members flowing in both directions. BimmerSport is the open community for enthusiasts - no joining fees, no car ownership actually required - you just have to be interested BMW Car Club is a club focused on 'real life' activities and has an official BMW association. Events have rules and standards and there's some funding to do stuff. May attract some different people ... I pinged them and they'd appreciate help in getting Welly up and going again. Is this a dumb idea? Is anybody interested in doing the same thing and helping? @Olaf @skidz

I do like the idea but when I buy another car it needs to be suitable for a 17yr old to be learning in - and a V8 isn't probably the best choice.

Not the image I meant to post! This one: Although the V8 looks a lot tidier!

Hey Guys, I had been eyeing these magnificent machines up for some time and I finally pulled the trigger and bought this beauty a couple of weeks ago. Prior to this, I've owned 4 180sx's and most recently a mazdaspeed 6. This is definitely on another planet in terms of handling, build quality and performance. Absolutely rapt with it. She's an auto, with only 80k on the clock. And of course I purchased a 3 year warranty with it. Have attached some images, please excuse the terrible cropping of the number plate ;P

Congrats Tim on the Jazz purchase. Its always surprising to hear (and see) what constitutes someone else's sensible - I am only joking of course. Hope you enjoy your new ride! does this sound familiar to anyone?...
