2 pointsLee, I'm loving your new Samosa shifter. nice integration work! Tell us how it changes your experience behind the wheel. It's still standard gate, but shorter/narrower? Right then, I'm going to see if there's an Onion Bhaji variant for the 545i.

2 pointsIf you are doing subframe bushings you will probably want a press as my tool is more for the smaller bushings. You are welcome to bring your stuff around and I'll help you remove as many bushings as we can. You can bring around by hex key you borrowed last time too.

1 pointYeah had it at Mad Mikes Summer Bash. Was meant to enter the Time Attack but wasn't ready in time. Only went out in the cruising (lasted 2 laps!) then just parked it up by our offices in the pits. Definitely a nice driving car now though!

1 pointM3 Lightweight rear wing (Technically its the GT Class II Wing), as seen in one of the previous posts Might eventually go to the M3 Lightweight front splitter too.

1 pointI also discovered the Samsonas shifter also requires a new shift linkage, this is due to the factory shifter having a kink in it which matched the gearbox connector, about 5 degrees. Thankfully i got the parts to make a new shifter linkage. When i asked about instructions i got "There is no instruction sheet for the shifter, from what my technicians have explained it is straight forward similar process to any short shifter on the market." Straight forward in a gutted race car maybe lol. So with the new base welded up, its was time for a test fit, over all pretty happy with how it sits now, and no ugly cut console. It looks pretty legit, a coby alcantara boot helps up the class a notch too ;-)

1 pointThat would be pretty damn cool to have all the beam team out at a track day. Its good fun to be on track with jerry in his e30, he has alot more power then me but i still try get up on his car when ever i can. been slow on my e30 since the track day, i was throwing around ideas on how to extract more power from the 3800, put the running set up on trademe to see if anyone would bite and buy it but no dice thus far. A buddy of mine had a large turbo and wastegate he had purchased a while ago for a simmilar engine combo, i had a huge amount of Na engine parts so we did a trade. I also impulse brought a 4g63 after i found a guy makes bellhousings to suit almost any rwd gearbox so the e30 will be getting evo power some stage but for now im lookong at fitting a large turbo. Will keep updated as i go!!

1 pointI'd have to agree with Graham a bit here, I think a budget mini series would easily outstrip the Ssanyyongggssss because people know what a Mini is, and what it stands for. And underneath it's a BMW as well Not like those weird Korean utes that nobody quite fully trusts yet... And at $25k + cage it's not that far off E30 prices, which can only go up as parts supply goes down

1 pointThose are bottom of the market examples. I drove two recently with sticker prices of $36k & $38k - neither were *mint*. They could be overpriced sure, but $30k seems a little too good to be true if you don't want to compromise on a major factor. They are pretty loose little cars though, no doubt. Consider a late model DCT 135i coupe?

1 pointNice colour, similar to Sienna Red Metallic. Really pops under direct light in to a copper kind of colour.
-
1 pointThat looks good Jake and well done. One thing could you delete the drain pipe sticking out the back please.
-
1 pointThat exterior colour is awesome. Much better than boring silver or black ones.

1 point@HardBall66 not sure if Matt will be, or might be interested in the above seats?

1 pointWhat I am referring to, as Glenn is too, is a flooded engine due to premature shutdown while in enrichment mode. Certainly I have not struck over pressurised lifters in this situation. What i am referring to occurs in a conventional tappet system or hydralic lifters, makes no difference. I have only ever seen/heard M50> engines with noisy lifters. BUT there are no doubt exceptions... Subaru - strange situation, but it sounds like a different scenario to what i am describing.

1 pointsuch thoughtful design engineers... giving the mechanics that would spend so much time with them, something beautiful to look at

1 pointHey Team Just another small update. Did some more cleaning, got the main end caps and bolts cleaned, timing chain, gave the bearings a good wipe and took all the piston rings off. Once i get the block back from engineers should be good to start putting things back together minus the heads though.

1 pointThis is awesome! Maybe one day all us hooligan e30 sliders will be at the same drift day!

1 pointAfter a buisy weekend cutting and shutting i got my e30 on the ground. Pretty damn happy with how it worked out, slightly more castor then stock, wider track width but with the camber braket in the 0 position the car looks to have no more camber then i originaly ran. The spindle has got a pretty decent amount of angle in it which pitches the steering arm up rather high but not high enough to cause any bind or clashing issues. But yeah pretty damn happy, working on what steering to use now (rack ends tie rods ect) as the wider track has set me with a large amount of toe in naturaly. Few people have said to clear coat the arms but will probly just paint them!. Will add more photos as i go, drifting in a weeks time so straight into testing. Cheers

1 pointAlmost up to date! So all pieced together and came across a few problems. Firstly one of the headlights fell out and smashed. No big deal as I have some new ones sorted anyway when I can be bothered wiring them in. Secondly, smoke started coming out of the dash cluster (any idea why)? And lastly, starter motor shat itself so off to get that rebuilt. Unfortunately the first drive in it's new disguise is on the back of a tow truck! Next step though is off to Dynamic Automotive to work on the engine and wiring side of things. Things to do there are: Rebuild starter motor Rebuild steering rack + all replace racks/tie ends/bushes etc Tidy up uneeded wires and crap that I don't need (found old alarm and gps tracker etc that I have no info on so all gotta go). Find out what caused smoke in the dash cluster As well as full service Plenty more to do but that's a start at least.
