1 pointhaha No Its not, ill be deleting / removing this soon. I plan to start a proper for sale thread this weekend, but given the lack of responses ill probably go direct to trade me. Car is being looked at today by several dealers to be given a market value and then ill list a price from there - so all good. Need to move this as my F10 arrives this weekend and i may not have space for the E60 for long

1 pointDay 26: Tried light painting for the first time a couple nights back. I'm sure theres a lot wrong with these photos, but for now I'm quite pleased with them! Didn't bother blanking out the mini's plates as the owner quite likes people knowing his car Perhaps next bimmersport meet I'll have a play with other cars!

1 pointFair point on the valve stems. That's the first and only thing that's gone wrong on this car. Luckily mechanical warranty saved the day and resulted in a free service from BMworx haha From my experience, if you look after the car a check things on the regular basis, you'll be sweet. I make it a habit to change oil and filter every 6 months with a full service once a year. in saying that, all my M62s have been sweet, first and only M62tu was a shitta

1 point+1. If your policy had an “agreed value” (those words), that’s what you should be paid for a total loss, less your excess.

1 pointInteresting. N62 Valve stem seals are a potentially pricey repair, though don’t cause catastrophic failure of the engine. Same for coolant tube through the valley; I’m (personally) mitigating that risk with annual coolant flush and replacement with genuine BMW coolant. Other than that, the standard coolant pump and hose replacements, and coil replacement one does with any BMW of a certain age. Am I in blissful ignorance of other lurking N62 maladies? We can then contrast this with M60/M62 V8 issues (timing chain/tensioner/water pump etc) in e39 and e35, that cost $3-5k to address ahead of failure, and result in significant engine damage when deferred/neglected. Which is worse? The M60/M62 is older tech and better understood, though is that really the safer bet?? I think the depreciation end-stop must just about be reached with the e60, same as e39 and e34. It comes down to whether one’s been well-fettled (lower risk), or neglected (lower price), providing that the car is of an attractive spec. The rest is down to general demand for that model. ?

1 pointI find in Wellington the service to be very good to excellent. It could be worth moving yourself and family down here. It’s not.too large to get bounced around the various group but seems to have critical mass in terms of specialists. My daughter has been a frequent flyer of the system and we’ve done well with the right level of attention. Had similar experience with elderly mother over the last couple of months which went from very serious , bed ridden to back home and living normally. with my wife, she is here today due to the quick action of hospital staff. Even with myself after having chest pains. From doctors through to hospital specialists. so if you get continued run around in Auckland. See if you can find a specialist in Wellington and consider the move. ( big decisions, but your already making these) Ethierway, hope you find the right people to help with your son in what are obviously stressful times.

1 pointAgreed value is agreed value, that is the value you have been paying the policy on. Don't let them roll you.

1 pointI think I recall reading about the e31 early dev cars having all the running gear and gadgetry fitted to the e24 body. In terms of the M5, the e12 M535i was the seed because it was the first 5 series sedan to be fitted out with a ‘large’ engine, motorsport orientated suspension and an LSD. Being a new concept at the time it was an obvious success. Sadly I cannot afford a real one ...

1 pointThank you sir. I'm happy to hear that you are not offended. And you are correct, it is sad to hear about Tom and their struggle. All we can do is to pray and hope for the best outcome. I also don't force my beliefs on anyone. We all believe what or who we want to believe in, and I respect that, but a while back the same "respect" was not showed to me - I was basically "attacked" on this site. I am not upset about that, life goes on. Anyhow, have a wonderful week..and God bless you. ?

1 pointNo worries mate, i'm not offended, and i hope it doesn't offend others as well. I just felt pretty sad for Tom and his family, especially with a deeper understanding from my own personal life experiences this stuff strikes a chord. i wouldn't force my beliefs on another but also hope we can all respect one another from our own unique lives we all live, all the best mate.

1 pointI will just chime in here and say I can personally substantiate the claims, I was personally at the claimed dyno day and with my own 2 eyes witnessed Toms M3 making slightly more power than the genuine CSL. the parts list alone should be enough for any "enthusiast" to come to a similar conclusion about the performance matching and or improving on a genuine CSL, M3AN just give the poor man a break ah??

1 pointIT's ALIVE !!!!! never straight forward, engine out again to sort a couple of things, still wouldn't start, had spark and fuel but wouldn't fire, had the computer double checked for the EWS delete and all was good there. Had my electrical guy back and he looked into the injector firing and we had no power there when cranking, so bridged a wire at replay and vroom So now we can put the interior back in, seats, dash and console back together and go for a whip around the block, clutch doesn't feel perfect as it's very close to the floor so may need to lengthen the rod more to get the engagement up. All going to plan this weekend we will finish off these items and I can get a wheel alignment booked this week ready for cert... Will update after weekend of how the test drive goes.

1 pointHey mate, i wish i could help just like a few of the members have also said. Not speaking from a parents perspective man, but i really can relate to what you mean about the realisation when materialistic possessions and money etc mean nothing anymore, it's the ones you love dearest that really hit home hard. I pray for nothing but the best for you and your son + family through whatever you guys are going through, stay strong, God Bless.
