SOLD SOLD Sad sad sad Reluctantly selling my low miles manual E36 M3 convertible. It's a bit special having done only 32000 miles (51kms - NZ new), in great condition and i'm only the 4th private owner ( plus 4 or 5 dealers). Comes with the wind deflector which fits in the back over the rear seats and works well with the top down. Recently valeted along with a coating of Feynlab Ceramic paint protection - the paintwork looks almost like new ! ( apart from a few chips and the bottom of the front spoiler, which i may get painted). It has a newer Sony CD player in it but i have the original one. The service history is all up to date in the handbook. In my 5 years i've had the air-con re-gassed, a new battery, new tyres, regular servicing and a very minor repair to a cable in the roof.

Well with dynamix you are meant to condition the leather every year too, which is easy but it's not exactly 5 years fire and forget like a real leather dye process as you mention.

A radiator should last more than 2.5 years so the warranty period doesn't matter, you're covered by the CGA. If they don't respond file a small claims dispute for the value of the radiator, you should get a court order for a refund.

Yeah its a gamble isnt it, you don't know what its really like to open it up to see what really required, i don't know how good the sprockets hold up either if its been left too long. If it was picked up quickly enough id think you'd likely get away with just the guides seals, tensioner kit and not have to worry about chain removal. That would simplify things in regards to tools and time needed.

Depends what you mean by cheap and what the car is worth if its fixed. IIRC the full timing chain kit it self was $1000-$1500 depending on how far you go + shipping and taxes. Then you need to buy or borrow the timing tools and have the tools and time to do the rest of the required work.

Didn't sell. Muricans are paranoid about rust. Which if you saw how much salt I drove through on Sunday night you would understand. I think the front of my car got sand(salt) blasted on the highway.

That is actually quite a lot of KM's for a Singapore car this new. As much as I like a quick diesel. I would rather have a M5.

Plastic guides disintegrate then chain flaps about and chews up engine casing and nearby parts and puts metal shavings into engine. Usually makes a horrific noise before catastrophic failure and you can just replace chain and guides and flush engine oil. Will be 16-30 hours labour though. Second hand m62 can probably be had for cheap. Check oil filter in sun for metal filings, check sump for plastic guides pieces and metal filings.

Thanks Glenn. Clean as a whistle in the seal land. Quite remarkable actually, as the pump has obviously been leaking, or has leaked, for a while. Car was parked up for months and while the 'top' of the pulley shaft is beautiful, the lower 2/3 has surface rust. I'll sparingly apply red rubber grease. It's to lubricate and seal - I thought a water-resistant non-setting grease would be good. Thought about vaseline, but there's much less heat resistance there.
