Hi Team Long time no post, finally get to do a very very small update on the e34 twins. Just been busy with the other builds but here's the plans for these two in the near future. So in the months that have past since May, I had the opportunity to buy this X5 4.6is i purely brought this for the motor as the dream of a s62 motor was bit out of reach for me, this was the next best thing. Also score this deal with Brents old 530i with b44 manual swap. Due till rust in the bottom sills and just a tad rough on the out side, I am taking all the running gear and already have sold on the rolling body. The 530i is currently at Austin @Stirling Street Machines and Fabrication getting a set of custom headers made. Pictures to come when done. Also perfect timing as i have some how broken the zf box currently in the sedan so the one from Brent's old one will be going in. Also swapped my set of style 66 plus abit of cash for a genuine set of style 37 Mpars which will be going on the sedan. Also scored these for the wagon some style 5's, a bit of polishing will bring them up nicely. So the main things happening soon are to do with the Wagon. So i plan to take the 4.6 motor out of the X5 with all engine loom and dme, bolt up a 420g box that i have, utilize Brent's single mass flywheel from the red 530i. Bolt the new headers up which hopefully will be a straight bolt in and get retuned if need be by Gavin. Cant wait to get this thing going as the 4.6 is such a different beast to the 4.4, just seems so much more grunter. Oh so dad also said he really like the x5 4.6 and it is in such good nick, it be a waste to part it so have managed to score a very low km x5 4.4 with broken trans that i will swap the motor over into the 4.6 x5 body. big swaps happening ahead, cant wait Thanks team.

Agree, and they are pretty practical too whilst putting a smile on your dial! They are around but don't come up that often, I wonder what happened to the red NZ new one that was on TM a few months ago - also around the $20-$24k mark IIRC. I can vouch for the Dakar Yellow one - it was a good one ?

Hi All BMW newbie here, picked up this one 2 weeks ago. Manufactured 2009. Got the CIC iDrive in it, N54 engine. I want to replace the radio with a single DIN mechless Bluetooth head unit, I'm pretty clueless on how, can anyone recommend what I need to do or who I could take it to, to get it done? Thanks

Hi everyone! I'm after a wedding car to be used down in Cromwell on 1st December 2019 please. Either an E39 M5 or an E30 M3, or something similar that looks rad! This is to be used for the groom and groomsmen, in conjunction with my E30 Touring (which we are using for the girls). If you can help, please PM me. Thanks a bunch! Rae

Don't under-estimate the towing capacity of the E46, I have towed a tandem-axle + E30 race car @1100kg+ + spare wheels and tools up and down the country many times with mine, without any issues. At a fair lick as well. If you dig very deeply into the NZ rules around towing the "tow rating" on any vehicle is only a recommendation, NOT a legal limit. The only requirement is to be able to stop safely within a certain distance from 50km/h. Which my 330d would do well within the required distance, even loaded up with all the gubbins mentioned above.

@zero who cares about the handbrake, or even if there's bolts holding it on! BLOW TORCH AND SMASH THE THING OFF! BMW's are built for punishment

This one here yeah sensor should be easy enough to sort out, still not totally sold on an E39, though I spotted this one today. Am still hoping @BM WORLD has some luck with the E34 as well.

As part of me clearing out my fleet - due to my illness - we have now decided to sell our 540i. I've updated the ad - as we will now hang on to the Touring - and I've lowered the price on the Motorsport - as I really need the car gone. I've included the chassis number - so you can confirm vehicle spec yourself. 2002 540iSE (is how its registered - but has the full Motorsport specification) - Silver - black leather Chassis: WBADN62080GF13460 175K NZ New - spec'ed with TV, electric rear blind, fold down rear seats and ski bag. I've got a factory first aid kit (unfitted) for the car. We have only owned the car a short time - and this was going to be a "keeper" due to the great spec and performance. Spent $1000s - getting rid of engine oil leaks, sorting out the broken and missing parts (like the outer underbody trays), getting a second key The bad: Power Steering oil leak - looks to be the reservoir - but could be hoses leeching - havent had time to investigate Usual dings and dents for a car this age - but presents well Usual pixels in main dash issues CD Stacker not functional Intermittent PDC failure - but self clears I'd like $4000 for this car -but open to offers as I need to sell the car. The car is in Wellington PM message or call me on 0272010807 if you are interested in buying the car Cheers Darryl

LPG torch would have it off in a few mins with that puller on it. Don't know if it heat gun would generate enough heat doing the same but you could try. Otherwise it may be less hassle to pay a garage etc to do the heating part.

I decided to go with some staggered M contours (style 23). They look pretty good in my opinion. Will take some better photos at some point.

There was a Dakar yellow one that came up recently for $26k and it seemed to have sold for something in that region.. Would be hard to find one these days!

I agree with the sentiment flowing that the price is kind of ridiculous- almost in line with zany, over-ambitious Oz pricing! However, it is a mega rare example in what appears to be in lovely condition - and in a fantastic colour. There were only a handful of Kiwi-new E34 M5’s in the first place. Sadly one was written off, and a number of (including UK and South African) examples have inter- planetary mileage these days. I personally think this is a $30-$40k car. I know that falls into nice E39 M5 territory (certainly a few more options if you want to buy one of those). However these cars were so rare in the first place - with their engines even hand built! I think this deserves to sit in a nice collection. The values for these (mint examples) are slowly on the rise everywhere around the world.

Latest vehicle alarm system. Pros: Loud, effective Cons: Not very portable

What is the weight of a car trailer, most tandems are 6-800kg. Add a car and that is no doubt breaching the abilities of a 3 series and pushing an E39 to it limits. You can pick up E53 diesels pretty cheap now. Re weight limits for Aus, yes, I was quoting most double cab utes GCM as stated by manufacturer.
