My latest e39 revival, a 96 528. Today I re-installed a replacement electric rear blind, after having also spray dyed the parcel shelf. Was a b#@ch to get out but went back in a lot easier... It even works !! Also tackling a multitude of clear coat scratching with wet sand plus the 3 step 3M cut & polish, long way to go...

I always go through same sequence with start up of new engine. 1. Plugs out 2. Hand crank over 3. Turn on starter - no compression with plugs out, check for fuel smell. Oil light should go out. 4. Plugs back in but not hooked up to HT Leads - should get compression, slower cranking. 5. Leads on and fire up!!

Purchased her 4 years ago as a project, didn't even have my license yet, got her (and me) road legal, currently replacing the engine, still keeping with a m20b20 as the old motor had some crash damage and this is my first time doing a engine swap, wanted an easy swap as a first time. Lowered and new shocks, in the middle of swapping the 45mm front struts to the 51mm struts, just waiting on new strut tops before I can finish the swap. Wanting to ITB and turbo when funds allow.

Got a few little things done to the 330ci over Easter: Front and rear sway bar bushings Adjusted front bumper and resprayed the aged lower plastic mesh. Stitched on a new steering wheel cover - had one on earlier and it was great but was synthetic leather and I did a so-so job stitching - got a higher quality proper leather one and took my time - much better. Got a week of AL coming up last week of the month (Managers encouraged to take 4 days in April ?) so will be tackling vanos seals, vanos oil line then oil filter housing gasket. Got a new fuel filter too for when the shops open and I can get some new fuel line and vacuum hose.

Havent done much on the car as recent, even on lockdown the most attention it has had is a wash in the driveway. Wof is coming up to expire so either need to decide if i keep dailying it for another 6 months or hook into the swap, have a large portion of the swap sitting in the shed, -M52b28 -Manual pedal box -Brought some stuff of Weitz, quite knowledgeable and had what i was after ZF320 box c/w driveshaft half Lighter single mass flywheel and heavy duty clutch 5 stud rear end E36 M3 evo front knuckles- ill order new Lower control arms Had some revshift motor mounts Also have a LSD clutch center sitting in CHCH ready for when freight opens, 3.46 ratio and ill put into a medium e30 case Pretty boring update sorry, want to get most of the parts here before i stop so i dont run out of work as such, hopefully more exciting update in the coming couple of months, will paint up subframe and diff etc Looking for suspension next and the lower control arms, that should be 90% of what i need sorted!

A couple of weekends back, did the valve cover gasket. That had to be be pried out with pliers out of the cover, as it was so hard and brittle. Managed to chip a piece off into the head, so had to borrow a mates air compressor, and fortunately managed to blow it out. Also did the oil filter housing while I was in there, which wasn't too bad, but likely needed to be done. The head looks much cleaner than the one in my E30. This weekend pulled out the auto box. Bit of a pain doing that solo, as it's flipping heavy, and I didn't have enough extensions to got the whole length of the auto box. The fluid that came out of the auto box was dark, so that probably wasn't helping the poor jatco. Manual pedal box is in. Fresh fluid inside the manual box, the little bit of oil still left in it was nice and pink, so hopefully she hasn't been abused too much. Providing I have a spigot bearing, should have this rolling after easter.
