2 pointsHello everyone, I'm Damien and recently purchased a 2007 130i. 92km's on the clock, really tidy inside and out. This will be an enjoyable daily! First BMW, traditionally owned Jap cars, current project car is a 1991 R32 Skyline. Read a bit of the forums, introduced myself to HellBMW who I will be visiting soon to give it a once over. I don't plan on doing too much to it as it's meant to be a reliable daily, however some things I would like to have a crack at are replacing the yellow bulbs in my angel eyes (I believe this car is an LCI so uses the H8?), fitting a bluetooth receiver (I can't seem to find any bluetooth transmitter in the car even though it has phone buttons on the wheel and has iDrive), as well as some cosmetic changes. It has an aftermarket exhaust with the rear muffler removed so is a tad loud so may address that down the line. Other than that, looking forward to expanding my knowledge of these cars and enjoying the experience!

1 point15XXXX km, Orient Blue (LOVE the colour), Msport, ZF manual converted with 3.38 diff, Full M3 interior (with inflating side bolsters), drilled rotors , front and rear strut braces and M3 mirrors. I researched getting an E46 for months as I wanted something with an older school feel but still modern enough and reasonably reliable that I could keep for a while. The 330ci seemed perfect, as I've always loved the timeless look and the M54B30 has a great reputation and enough power for our twisty roads. Manual, RWD, NA straight six, great steering and 50/50 weight distribution - can't complain! My goal is to go for an OEM+ build and hopefully end up with one of the nicest Non Ms around. I've spent a lot of time and money getting it to a high standard with OE / OEM parts: Maintenance / Performance Oil and filter / Plugs / Diff and Tranny fluid New intake boots, DISA O ring and MAF clean New waterpump / thermostat / radiator hoses / expansion tank / belts and pulleys Short ram air intake, fully heat shielded and ducted from kidney grilles Valve cover gasket & oil filter housing gasket Vanos seals & Oil line Fuel filter All new tensioners and pulleys Poly steering coupler Supersprint axle back and secondary cat delete CABs / new shock and strut mounts with front reinforcement plates Front and rear tower braces (ARC) E46 M3 front 26mm sway bar / E46 Msport Vert 20mm rear bar, new bushings and adjustable end links (upgrade from 23mm/18mm bars) ST XA Coilovers (Same spec as KW V2) - height and damping adjustable New Lemforder Tierods and boots Remap - throttle response / power (probably not) / subtle burble Fully certed for manual swap, coilovers and all mods (inc driveshaft hoops) Exterior Paintless dent removal Bonnet, side skirts and door respray Stage 2 paint correction and regular waxing M3 mirrors Euro personalised plates - 'NZ E46' ESR SR01 18x8.5 ET30 and Hankook Ventus V12 235/40/18 New headlight lenses / New clear corners / rear LCI boot lights / Dual slat front grille Boot and mirrors resprayed for cosmetic reasons New OEM front bumper colour matched Interior Fully refurbed and re-coloured M3 Nappa leather to BMW Caramel Piano black trims Armrest delete and refinished interior plastics Re-wrapped steering wheel and refinished trim - highly recommended! Billetworkz shift knob (450grams!) and clutch stop, matching handbrake handle Alcantara custom stitch shift and handbrake boots Factory style touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay - looks OEM but with 2021 functionality Front JBL components, Pioneer amplifier and 12" sub Both front Airbag recalls done To do list $$$ IR to RF key conversion Engine mounts? Diff bushings?

1 pointHey everyone i am buying a 79 635csi from my work next week. What am i getting myself into?? The car has been in dry storage for 8 years i havent seen it run in this whole period but we have never tried to get it going. It has only ever been towed or pushed to different locations. I put the jump pack on it yesterday and it all powered up and did turn over but I didnt continue to try anymore from there. Now from what i have found out from my research it was produced in September 1978 which makes it one of 98 made that year and was in the first group of RHD manuals ever produced. It is originally from the UK. Was first registered here in 1990. From what i can tell it looks to have the M90 (will confirm, now that i know to look for the L on the block) I have looked in most spots for rust everything looks fine. But that is also without getting it on a hoist. Now my first goal is to get it running and to move it from where it is to give it a major water blast. How much work is going to be involved for me to get this running. I know ill need to dump the old fuel. Here are some photos of the car not the best as its in a dark corner in the back of the warehouse.

1 pointGot a few bits done this weekend: New fuel filter - old one was original to car so had to cut the hoses off and get new ones. Don't recommend doing this on ramps, lucky I'm skinny ? Cleaned all oil and crap from underneath - having just done the oil filter housing gasket and valve cover gasket, it was a mess down there (car had been leaking a fair amount). Also had black sludge (looks like oil) down as far as gear box, no idea how oil could get that far back though? Clean now so will be able to see if it's something else. Replaced quarter window dry rotted lower rubber - much easier than I thought it would be thanks to an 'eraser wheel' on the drill to get rid of all the glue.

1 pointE70 is the chassis code e.g. vehicle shape from 2006 to 2013 xDrive is the name that BMW gave to their 4wd drive system 3.0d etc is the engine type. 30d 3 litre turbo diesel, 40d twin turbo diesel, 50d tri-turbo diesel. Best thing to look for is some decent service history, it'll save you money in the long run knowing it has been looked after properly

1 pointHey Guys, It's time to let my pride and joy go to another home. Me and the wife are cutting back on costs and are dropping down to one car, I now e-bike into work and this just sits in the garage and only gets used occasionally on the weekends. I've loved every minute of ownership, and I hope to find another home on here for it rather than have to put it up on Trademe. I have full service history for it in my ownership, prior to me there was one other NZ owner, and originally from Japan. Recently done the brakes/rotors (all around) 60,000km's left in them Near new front tyres Rear tyres have plenty of life left in them No modifications apart from blacking out the kindey grille, and white angel eyes Recently serviced 102,000km Always garaged and washed meticulously every fortnight! There are no issues that i know of with the car except that it could do with a transmission fluid change as it very occasionally hesitates in 6th gear at around 2k RPM. I had it checked at Auckland City BMW who had it on their computers, checked all the gear ratios, torque converter etc etc and said it was perfect, just needs a fluid change, this would be at a cost to the new owner of around $1000 Due to the above, i will let it go for $14000 If you would like to discuss further please get me on mobile (Zero 2 1 Two three Zero 3 0 7 7 ) Or, email me - adam @ mada . co . nz

1 pointThanks man. Spur of the moment setup pic..and doesnt she look might fine??. But...I aint impressedwith those headers. I should have made another set before doing these..to get my procedure thought about and planned. Also...I need a proper welding station, the machines feed at lower end either goes too low or high..variable knob is stoofed, a metal table with adequate clamps, much better lighting and a few more hours with a gun in my hand. The end product..is..OK...I will do some proper mandrel bent ones in december. That photo shot says it all though..pleased with all the work up to this point. Electronics, cats fitted and rear welded without muffler..to start up in 2 weeks..

1 point... not much has been happening on my e30 lately. I took Barry's barn-find 635CSi 'Barney' to the British and European Car Show at Trentham. Cleaned the number three HT lead at the cap (again), which improved some rough running. I've sourced some parts. I drove it for most of the day on Friday 28 February, and really enjoyed it. Then I had to urgently head to the land of Oz the next day, and the car has been in the garage since then. On my return to NZ, I was strapped-in to 14 day self-isolation due to my travel risk (contact with family members arriving from other countries), and symptoms. I've just emerged into 'general lockdown', so at least can plan some work on the old girl when this Covid-19 thing eases a little. Meanwhile, here's a couple of pics I made on 28 February. These were test images for a shoot I had planned for the sunday. A friend's ///Msport 325i Tech 2 coupe needed some pre-sale shots, so I was scouting locations. Accordingly, my car is as it came from the garage, with a bit of dust on it. Ah well, back to planning. Might get it out for a grocery shopping essentials trip soon, at least keep fluids circulating.

0 pointsThe oil leak on the back of trans is probably the selector shaft seal. Common, and a PITA to change.
