    As mentioned, dealer will probably offer you a token amount as a trade (my guess $1k-$2k max?). Hmmm, an e34 for the work commute would be cool! You’re Wellington based?

    I really do wish we had Salvage Titles. Though this would have hurt me badly when I was importing damaged vehicles to repair and sell between 1999 and 2003. I stopped in 2003 when the new frontal impact laws came into place. Little did I know I could have just shrugged my shoulders in answer to any damage concerns..... That Estoril Shoe does come up as LHD via the Vin decoders. Yet no mention of that in the auction description. Shrugs shoulders.

    163,217 kms. Long-time no post! I’m still loving the little E36. It has been so good to me and puts a smile on my face every time I thrash drive it. Living in Kelburn and working / studying in the CBD means that I rarely have a reason to take it out of the garage (except for the weekly grocery shop), but I often find myself driving it just for the sake of it. Updates since last time Replaced the original perished windscreen cowl / cracked windscreen / old wiper blades Before After Replaced broken fog light bracket (absolute pain to change!) and fog light bulbs Dent Magician removed a couple minor door dings (ding free now) Brake upgrade – installed E46 330i front brakes and 328i rear brakes / new brake pads / new rotors / rebuilt calipers / fresh brake fluid Basic maintenance (Oil changes, filters etc) Couple WOFs, including the obligatory “she’s pretty tidy” as the inspector hands back my keys Fixed squeaky seat and steering wheel Replaced rubber gaskets around both rear quarter windows. [Until I screwed up the driver's side when I was reinstalling the window – I over-tightened the b-pillar bolt and snapped it in half. Unfortunately, the window is designed so that the bolt is glued to the glass. I think the best step forward is to find a replacement rear quarter glass. Any ideas?] Regular cleaning, finishing with Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection Multiple road trips, from Waihau Bay over the summer break to a recent trip with the BMW Club to Castlepoint, without any issues.     Remember: you only coded the radio, not the car The BMW coding system works like this: 1. First read the VehicleOrder, and workout the vehicle coding. A part of the vehicle coding is the country code, in your case, it is set to JAPAN 2. Then recode all modules according to the correct coding data for the country variant, in your case: JAPAN So: if you ever connect to a BMW diagnostic system and the operator does a complete vehicle recode, then it will detect that the current radio coding (set for ECE) does not match the vehicle country coding (set for JAPAN), and it will do it's job and correct the radio coding to what it is programmed to do: JAPAN Your solution (recode radio only) will work fine as long as you never have a entire vehicle recode Of course, the proper way to permanently set the vehicle correctly for use in NZ, is to change the Country Coding of the vehicle (by altering the Vehicle Order) to NEW ZEALAND (or OCEANIA or whatever the right value is), and then recode the vehicle.

    I am about to trade in my 1994 540i E34 for EV. It's done 79K, fully spec'ed with leather interior, electric seats, sun roof and after market JVC sound system with integrated reversing camera. Wheel are on 17" BS mags (albeit a bit curb rashed). Runs fine, just having had new front suspension things (not sure - maybe trailing arms?)P and new front disks and rear disks/drums and rotors. Just wondering what I should ask for a tradein - just a fair value Thanks
