Bit of an update, have acquired more parts courtesy of FCP Euro including a new accessory belt and tensioner, replacement power steering reservoir with fluid as preventative maintenance and an oil cooler gasket kit for a slight leak from the cooler. I haven't fitted anything yet, nor any of the pile of mechanical parts and cosmetic bits I've accumulated previously. One day 😅 Will start working on small bits with the weather improving. But I have recently fitted new to me stock tail lights courtesy of @Angelo At the last WOF couple months ago it passed with no issues, though noted there was water in the right tail light. Turns out there was crack in it and some damage, not sure when that happened. Previous owner home tinted the tail lights and it hasn't aged well, I'd been planning to replace them at some point with Dark lines but they're quite hard to find. As it so happened @Angelo had his old set of tail lights so I snagged them as an ideal replacement and they've worked a treat. A massive improvement on the back end, really freshened up the look of the car and de-aged it. Plus no more water ingress.

Not sure if this is a bit controversial but I spotted ... myself 😆 First time in over two years parking the car any place but my garage, took a couple quick happy snaps to celebrate the occasion !!

Sorry for non BMW content but having brunch / on Ponsonby road today (always good for people and car watching), this was the coolest car seen of many cool cars. Other highlights were a McClaren 720s, Zender E30 in Lachssilber which I thought was mine being stolen for a split second, AC cobra and a 1M being piloted by a mature lady. Low km 993 Turbo, gotta be worth a few bob nowadays! *Edit - meant to post this in the SPOTTED thread*

Are you looking for shelf queens, runners, and/or NIB versions? Not yet, but possibly in the next 12 months or so I might be looking at thinning out my vintage Tamiya collection. Mostly buggies - Egress, Top Force Evo, Dyna-Storm, Avante etc but also some TA-02 Porsches and M-01 Rover Minis. Most I have NIB and shelf queen versions of. I do have a re-re (2011) Avante, built with unpainted shell, never run, that I probably don't need, if that appealed you might be able to temp me to part with it.

Not sure of @NZ_InFerno's exact experience, but I've been through a few E90's over the years, and the Xenon's are notorious for burning a ring on the inside of the plastic, had an F11 that did the same as well. It's obviously not pitting, but it looks really pitted when you look at the headlight from side on.

Just me, or does the full fat M Performance kit look absolutely faaaarken awesome?? The rear bumper is light years ahead of the standard item (let's not discuss the over & under exhaust) and the larger front intakes with the side canards make so much more sense. Pub discussion with a couple of serial M owners this arvo, and the general consensus was "Why does it take another $30K (and the rest) of bits to perfect an M product?" The cynic / realist in me knows that it's an easy money spinner, but it's almost egregious that bumpers that are so cohesive for the awkward design they're working with are held back as an aftersales product when the main items look so sh*t.

Interesting. If you end up going with aftermarket lens replacements please do post details of your experience, if it's good it would be worth hearing about.

It's got replacement halogen bulbs inside which aren't stock, my guess is they're giving off a bit of heat and over time have slightly distorted/damaged the inside of the lens. Or something else has got in and caused some corrosive damage, but that seems unlikely.

For the 130? Assuming so then there's no ex-BMW lens kit although there might be some Taiwanese aftermarket kits but I'd consider that unlikely due to the nature of the assembly. They're pretty thick plastic, you can sand them back a fair way, the key is then to lacquer them with UV resistant clear and they'll stay perfect for pretty-much ever. That's a two stage process though, sanded professionally (and NOT UV coated), then take them to a paint shop for (I think) 2 pack lacquer. You can probably do both stages yourself but I'm not that brave.

Paint quality etc is way better on the BMW, it still a skoda... It is fun to boost around with though, just does everything good.

I've only done about 70k in mine. Nearly all open road. Replaced the following 2 x sets of tyres Coils and plugs Vanos motor and gasket Both top rad hoses Gearbox service due to it only having a few litres of fluid in it from a previous service. Footwell computer Headlight bulbs However I need to replace the following soon. Control arms Brake rotors Shocks Rest of cooling system.

Such a bargain and perfect daily - I don’t do the Kms to justify a third car though. Hope the Skoda is going well, I didn’t realise they were in that price range or I may have tried one out when we were shopping for the F31.

@Neil McCauley I sent a query into CHC BMW for all the parts below apart from main seals (weather strip) and all are available ex Malaysia for just over over $400 inc GST. Not a bad price I thought.

@Neil McCauley thanks for that, I've been ignoring the centre locking piece hoping to make it someone else's problem / whoever tackles it has a good solution for it. I had a quick look this morning and the "decorative strip" that goes into the seal isn't cheap so hopefully that comes out ok and can be rejuvenated / refurbished somehow.

I got a set of AP Sportfahrwerke lowering springs from Speedfactor as I was wary of the trademe sets, and wanted to buy from somewhere with a warranty. Evan and the team are very knowledgeable and can help you with any questions you may have. They were $350 including shipping and have a great feel to them. They also stock shocks and struts if you're looking to do those at the same time too.

I had the same dilemma when I had the 135i so ended up stitching on one of those Alcantara covers onto my steering wheel which matched the insert, turned out great
