Bidding has certainly crept past the part car status , even at the time of your post at roughly 11k You'll be surprised what can be repaired , it's all about economical value, skill and parts availability Even as a disclosed write off repaired M325i I'd expect a book value of $35k - $40k It could potentially be a good entry level into M325i ownership, as the ships sailing with good examples fetching 50 to 60k I wouldn't rely too much on the ownership quantity of E30s or a wheel alignment as a skillful judgement , Chassis time, chassis measure and a repair certifier will be the new owners priority. Edit* If anyone would require parts, I've got plentiful available, and Or needing assistance in the lower to central north island with the actual repair . Let me know 😀

Touring part out continues, @Vass were any of these the parts you were after? A slight side project of replacing the shocks in my mum's passat caused a bit of a delay but hopefully should get everything done before I head south again. Learnt about the existence of XZN/True square spline fasteners at 10:30pm, thanks VAG... Got to use my $50 spring compressor again, only reason I even offered to do it. Also got the bench grinder out to make a homemade strut spreader which reduced the amount swearing needed to get the things back in again. Anyway, cars looking a lot better with the M-Sport bits. Unfortunately the black shadowline trim from partscar is in a pretty bad condition so I will just stick with the chrome for now until I get a chance to repaint it or whatever. I'm thinking that I will still put the glossy window trim on that matches the power folding mirrors though since thats all in pretty good shape. I've also replaced the passenger side door which had a nasty dent in it, that also happened to fix the god awful noise that door was making whenever I opened it. I've also swapped the power steering pump from the LF-20 to the LF-30, hopefully that fixes the loud noises it's been making. I will possibly swap the rack over to the purple tag at a later date once I've got a new PS reservoir. 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒛𝒆 I can definitely see a slight difference in the shade of silver between the partscar bits and the OG car but in person it's pretty hard to tell and realistically it'll probably only be me who notices (and everyone on this forum). At least it's less noticeable than the gnarly dent.

Not going to lie, That comment along with your ones on the turners Facebook post honestly seem to be nothing but trying to scare people off so they don't bid against you... even if it fetched 20k (which is what I would say it will fetch roughly and wouldn't at all be surprised it it does), looking at what they have been listed for it would still be well worth it. Taking it for a $70 wheel alignment is not going to tell you much as it would greatly depend where (unlikely) it was bent. and the only way to do this *properly* is tramming it or getting a 3d chassis measure (needed as part for the repair certification process anyway). you can see pretty clearly, that the hit has gone all but straight in above the bumper and has just dragged the radiator supports back. the whole "write off" persona in this country is completely floored as a "write off" has nothing to do with what the actual damage is and is solely reliant on values. for someone who has a front clip floating about (seems to be alot floating around after seeing this) this is a dead easy repair. with the correct procedures in place (hence repair certification), even if you had to put a rail in it it is absolutely achievable and still worthwhile. In the situation of the above car, it likely isn't even a value issue. it's more likely an issue of available parts.... And before anyone jumps, We deal with repair certifiers on a daily basis putting insurance write offs back on the road. From small side swipes, to replacing complete chassis rails to chassis and body swaps TLDR.... if the new owner parts it out... they need their head checked

ive seen and probably owned more E30s than anyone still on this forum. Unless this car was your great grandmothers hand me down with non-economic value to you, this car will never see the road again. new owner should take it for a $70 wheel alightment at thier corner tyre dealer note the front caster values, that will tell you everything you need to know. its a banana.

That’s the thing, if you’re able to do it yourself and/or have contacts to do it “mates rates” it’s a very different value proposition for getting it fixed. Will it be a very lucrative job? Possibly, if you’ve got or got access to parts to replace the damaged bits. Please, please, please let someone who wants to fix it win the auction. Unfortunately it’s also worth a lot of money as parts, which is a much easier job…

Been a minute... Have been very busy with work. Recently acquired a new motor for the car, 89,000km semi complete engine, missing a bunch of bits but I plan on using most of my own parts from the old engine anyway. Collected it from Kamo, just north of Whangarei with a trailer and the trusty E91, and have been stripping it down and cleaning it up in preparation for a thorough refresh. It will be getting all new gaskets all round, new rod bearings and a baffled sump. Still need to order the parts for it, hopefully will get around to it in the next week or so. Had a look under the valve cover and pulled the sump off and it all looks exceptionally clean, no sludge whatsoever. Have also managed to acquire some VTT high flow turbo outlets, as the factory RHD outlets have a kink in them which reduces the flow. Was a lucky find on marketplace as they are very hard to find nowadays, seemingly discontinued.

TBH there was nearly a complaint every time he posted something. And he was doing it on purpose much of the time. The founders Ollie and Andrew drop by every now and then. Ollie has just listed his Bimmersport E30 Series car for sale on the forum. Even comes with keys to the forum. There are still many old members lurking around. But Facebook did harm the forum space. Only now are forums starting to make a come back as people are hunting for info on classic cars. Facebook is a black hole for anything older than about 12 hours. Searching is non existent and near on useless. The only thing it is good for is meet ups. Many of the younger kids (18-25) at work don't even have Facebook. As that is for their parents. Many of my friends and family are quitting it as current social media takes it's toll on their lives. There is so much info on this forum and others that are similar. I do still get angry at the great Photobucket purge. So many lost important images.

I remember reading that daft crap years ago in email form. It's what they created. Not what they inherited from their parents. All that bad stuff like Teflon and plastic bags just appeared out of thin air. It definitely wasn't a now old man that created them. But also I drive a gas destroying supercharged V8 and do lots of burnouts. I'm doing my part 😅

Here ya go ya old farts The “Green Thing” Back in My Day Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to me I should bring my own shopping bags because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. I apologized and explained, “We didn’t have this green thing back in my earlier days.” The cashier responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.” She was right — our generation didn’t have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, pop bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn’t have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn’t have an escalator in every shop and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. Back then, we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts — wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right. We didn’t have the green thing back in our day. Back then, we had one TV or radio in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief — remember them? — not a screen the size of the county. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the post, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she’s right. We didn’t have the green thing back then. We drank water from a fountain or a tap when we were thirsty instead of demanding a plastic bottle flown in from another country. We accepted that a lot of food was seasonal and didn’t expect it to be flown in from other parts of the world thousands of kilometers away. We actually cooked food that didn’t come out of a packet, tin or plastic wrap and we could even wash our own vegetables and chop our own salad. But we didn’t have the green thing back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus, and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their mothers into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint. But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the green thing back then? Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart-ass young person. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to … Especially from a tattooed, multiple pierced smartass who can't make change without the cash register telling them how much.

Yeah ran into the same issue, took me a while to figure out what the deal was. Noticed it only happened with larger images but anything up to 2 MB went through without issues so that seems to be the cutoff. I've just been downsizing the resolution prior to posting.

really? you actually had complaints wow, kinda don't blame him then. I don't get why people if they don't like it can't just skip on, no one forces you to read a post and then be offended

Pretty sure it’s in the forum guidelines somewhere, can’t remember off the top of my head sorry. 4Mb sounds like it’s getting up there in size.

Could be your images are too large. Keep the file size down and it seems to work OK.
