Car finally back and better than ever at least - the delay was caused by a wait on a front shock - assuming they only replaced the front left but front end feels a bit tighter now at least.

Interesting, though I'm not entirely convinced that's not a documentation error - all images I can find relating to the remanufactured part number have a BZ label. If trying to use a DZ, be sure to know it's coming from an N54-powered car; the bell housing will be wrong if coming from an N57 vehicle.

I pity the fool who thinks compact practicality is nil

The amount of junk I can fit in the back of the compact is pretty staggering. And the way the rear hatch opens up basically full vertical means I can practically stand upright in the boot while I load it.

I have the airbag light permanently on (on sports wheel) after car has sat for a while. Would anyone be able to help scan the car for the fault code? Happy to compensate for your time! Or recommend a shop in Auckland that is reasonable? Thanks for your time

After a scan - my first port of call would be battery. Modern BMW (like E60 onwards) very sensitive to voltage and bad batty the source of many gremlins. Be sure to code to the car if you change it out. You're into modern BMW ownership, you need a scan tool.

Definitely. Now I can focus on maintenance and improvements.

Been doing quite a few trips in the dark recently and noticed a hell of a lot of cars with stupid aftermarket lights bolted on. Many of which would be illegal / WoF fails. Including - utes with LED light bars across the bonnet and above the cab - it’s Auckland FFS not Nevada. Old Toyota with “line” style white lights around the rear boot and bumper? Lots of people movers with blue lights at the front for headlights and fog lights? Good old retro “neons” lighting up the road under the car - many so badly fitted you can see the actual light under the car! Half the drivers in Auckland are confused if it rains let alone if it’s dark and there’s what looks like a UFO coming at them.

When we moved to NZ we had use of a Suzuki Swift for a fee weeks. We managed to fit almost all of the needed items for setting up a house into that, with three people. (My family believes I am a Tetris champion.) I think a Ti is probably bigger!

One last thrash before going on holiday for 3 weeks - an extremely rainy morning out to Piha. Not my picture, makes me miss my old proper camera.

Ive taken apart an E39 one which id class as a stepped tandem master cylinder, presumably the E46 would have the same design but M3 one may vary in diameters compared to non m. Have you looked at the price on an M3 master cylinder?

Why i like the E36 Ti vs E30, the less attractive sister with a ugly bum, but she's objectively superior in just about all other areas.

Unfortunately came off 2nd best with an altercation with an i20 😬 Was 2 minutes after its first wash in 3 months too. Only took me 44 years for my first fender bender. Car actually drove a few km home seemingly OK (just felt like the wheel was knocked out of alignment) until I had to reverse it.
