$8,500 Selling one of the most enjoyable driving cars I have owned due to an opportunity that has come up that I don’t want to miss. MUST GO! I’m the second owner, first owner had for 218,000kms in Japan- Hawkes Bay BMW couldn’t fault it upon its arrival inspection in May. In outstanding condition beside blemish on front bumper, leather is mint, headlining is mint- one comment from BMW “it drives like its a 30km car” Just replaced rocker gasket seal as preventative maintenance. 2007 BMW 130i Motorsport LCI. - 228,000kms - 6speed Manual - 6pot BREMBO front brakes (135i bolt on upgrade) - 18x8.5 Square style 219 - 2,500km old BU66 235/40/R18 - KW street sport suspension (shocks + springs) - Alcantara Motorsport steering wheel - BMW performance shift knob + Alcantara boot - Full leather - Idrive - Sunroof - ‘Golf tee’ exhaust mod, lovely burbles and pops - Have all factory parts + BREMBO rear brakes Was going to be a racecar eventually as it’s a great base for one.

I think the over rated 1KZ would be cracking heads on a monthly basis having to haul around a 2.5 tonne Range Rover. Complexities around the P38 might make it easier and cheaper to keep it as a parts car and find a standard 2.5dse, or the later L322 with the BMW td6, or even a td5 Disco. Also I think diesel and V8 gearing are different of the top of my head... the V8 Range rovers will do 70 in 1st and around 120 in 2nd.

Nothing quite that outlandish @gjm @TermiPeteNZ it’s a 2000 330ci, factory manual, nz new, 143XXXs with AC schnitzer kit. Needs a little bit of TLC but should be fun

As said by others, the P38 EAS (Electronic Air Suspension) is a good system. It's not actually all that complex either, but it is very misunderstood and unscrupulous (uncaring, ignorant) repairers play on this. Simplicity does lean towards springs and shocks (and there are good conversions available) but these will never have the active element of EAS, or provide for multiple, selectable ride heights, either automatically or based on operator choice. A lot of people don't realise the P38 had genuinely active suspension which would detect lean in corners, and increase pressure to the 'low' side of the vehicle, giving it a flatter cornering attitude. It also automatically lowered above a certain speed for safer, more secure higher speed driving, and could be lifted by several inches for off road use.

More than welcome to take my E39 for a spin. I haven’t done my shocks yet but my tyres are new and it might give you an idea of what a 214,000 km on original shocks feels like..... @Mikan recently did the shocks in his M- Sport touring (OEM Sachs) ....probably more relevant as to what you are trying to figure out than mine but the offers there.

I am impressed how you were able to remove those black plastic tail light pieces without damaging them! I took one off the other day and it was a royal pain in the backside to not do any damage!

if you are a sucker for pain, there is the option of entirely rewiring the thing... that would become a 4 year project...

Are you going to use the motor from the 320d? Don't "forget" to change the fuel type on the registration, otherwise you won't be able to pay your RUCs!

Just got my wheels back from refurb, cost a pretty penny. They're ment to be black shadow chrome but came out mostly black.

suspension malarkey month for me; each winter for the past 3 winters the car had been making an intermittent groan when turning the wheel at either low speed or stationary. this year it became more persistent, and after much investigation and checking of bushings control arms etc, it was found that the H&R front springs i had, had sagged / compressed past the point of being useful and the car was effectively sitting on the bumps stops (although compression under driving didn't provide any noise the bumps were under constant stress) and that is what the groaning was. This was disappointing as i loved the set up and "stance" of the car and the springs weren't that old, 5 years, and cost a bit. So i agreed with the local suspension shop to swap my OG M Sport springs back in, this worked but the rears were on the piss with different heights from left to right (see post in suspension section) this would not do - front were great and car felt much better when turning. ( i also noted that the shop and put a huge gouge in one of my wheels when it was with them - grrr they did agree to put it right and have since done so ) That was all 2 weeks ago, so this week we swapped the H&R rears back in, the car is now level left to right and has a slight rake front to rear as factory. the spring rates although different springs front to rear are very complimentary and the car driving feel is better than it's felt in a long time. So now all sorted, no odd noises, no crooked looks, no bung mags. Now she just needs a solid clean one my garage project is done and she can be parked inside again
