  1. same with the e34 The Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo was first introduced at the 1989 Geneva auto show, based on the popular and very successful BMW 535i. It was the fastest car Alpina ever built and to this date it remains the second fastest after the B12 5.7 Coupe. The extremely smooth and refined inline-6 engine, coupled with twin Garrett T25 turbo chargers that work together to practically eliminate turbo lag, provide over 100 horsepower per litre. A 5-speed manual transmission especially developed by Getrag for the B10 transmits the powers to the 17 inch wheels while Lucas-Girling four pot fixed caliper brakes, 332 mm (13.07 inch) ventilated brake discs and of course a ABS system help slow the car down. Other modifications performed by Alpina include new Mahle pistons, new valves and camshafts, new intake and exhaust systems, an intercooler for the turbochargers and standard exterior trims including front and rear spoilers. The interior is also updated with Recaro sport seats, a hand-stitched 3-spoke leather steering wheel by Momo and a whole bunch of dials including everything from boost pressure to oil temperature. Only 507 Bi-Turbo were built in total, however none are believed to exist in North America. The last Bi-Turbo ever produced rolled out of the plant in March 1994. The Bi-Turbo is extremely quick and should not be under-estimated by any BMW M5 owners (or Ferrari 348 / Testarossa owners, as a few German magazines found out) because the twin-turbo B10 both accelerates faster and has a higher top speed. - by Traian Popescu
  2. Priced way high imho, dereged as well.
  3. Give me $7k and you can have this. Now sitting on a new set of 16" Alpina reps with new tyres
  4. Trouble is you have with a heavier car to start with, and I can get more out than an E34 anyway. Milan has trouble getting much more out now without spending a small fortune on plastic, glass and carbon.
  5. I wonder if he's going to come and play with us on the 5th and 6th? He was doing low 14's at the last Hampton meet.
  6. You want to be sitting in my seat when he goes past on the track.
  7. Truth is Dan, the E28 will always be 100 to 150 kgs lighter, so just got to get it to handle and it will be no contest.
  8. As above Max, 99% sure that's from the engine side, not the box.
  9. whoa up there boy, 170 to 192, not quite twice as much?
  10. I see you chasing those tyres Jack, good thing I don't want them either.
  11. Did James forget the HRC meet at Puke that weekend, or is he not doing the timing there? We have a round at Puke that weekend by the way.
  12. I bought the full setup to convert an E30 to 5 stud properly. Includes, ti rear end E36 M3 evo front lower arms, proper castor offset, E36 M3 spindles with slotted disks, M3 calipers, very good cond, and EBC pads, hardly worn. You need E36 struts and springs and you're ready to go. No longer needed, so selling for $1200. ps, make it $1600 and I'll chuck in a med case lsd centre as well.
  13. I for one would hope nothing will kill your inspiration Tony, an example to all on what can be done, I have also tried to go away from what all others are doing, and intend to keep on doing that. There is no greater inspiration than someone saying 'it can't be done', or,' that's not the way to do it', or, 'that won't work'. ps, especially if you do most of it yourself.
  14. Reality at the moment Jack is that the market is a bit flat, what with the season being half gone, and the recession still upon us. The other trademe car isn't far behind yours as a budget entry, but he can't sell for $4500, been up for 3 mths now. Good cars were going for 15k plus at the start of the season, so I'd bite the bullet and wait if I was you, but being young and impatient I doubt you'll do that. If you really want to sell it that badly I'd suggest a $1 trademe auction see what interest you can drum up, and what it's really worth. Sorry for the reality check, but my 2c. GLWS by the way. ps, I still believe it's worth $7500, but you will have to wait.
  15. It's not that straight forward Jack, with your knowledge you'd be better off getting something already built, anything can beat a series car, they're easy.
  16. You could also try 'Alex ten Hove', has a BMW yard in Frankton and used to race in the open class, he's of an age to know these cars. Goes under his full name on this forum, nice guy, may be able to help or point you in the right direction.
  17. Looks like a nice example Brent, but the gear lever looks like std overdrive box?
