  1. Does anyone have an ipod classic they want to get rid of ? Must have video capability, prefer black but not fussy, good nick with no major scratches and would be happy with 80 or 160Gb (depening on price) Just need something cause Ive had a couple of days with no music and its getting on my t!ts. Would also consider a 16gb ipod touch but I doubt my budget is going to stretch that far. Cheers Martyn
  2. Not quite old enough though HB Fella
  3. Give it a go mate, its not that hard you just have to make sure you follow the instructions. Ive done it plenty of times with e32's. Once youve done it you'll wonder what all the fuss is about. 10 seconds is actually a long time to press a button three times !

    FS: Apple Iphone

Just remind me....the iphone is not 3G is it ? Im looking at getting an ipod touch at the moment because I fancy the wifi functionality but then I can see myself carrying that and a phone about all day, rather than the one item and Im not sure I want to give up the video calling.
  6. Try babelfish too. What I tend to do is write my questions in Englilsh and translate it with Babelfish to German, telling them Ive only used a translation service and they always reply in English ! The only issue you might have is paying. Alot of Germans rely solely on direct bank transfers which can be expensive from here.
  7. have you just tried talking in english ? You might be in luck, as the Germans generally have excellent english
  8. Cant read it at all with anything Ive found on the web so Im gutted. Im looking at some alternatives (all in the ipod family) and wondered if anyone else had tried this. The main contenders are an ipod classic 160Gb and an 32gb itouch I think the classic win hand downs, massive space, video etc. Its unlike that Ill watch anything on it, but hooking it up to the tv in the touring is very tempting, Jochen I think has done this but has anyone else ? THe itouch wasnt in the running until I noticed just now someone selling it as wifi...I didnt think that was the case, but if anyone has one what do they think ? 32Gb is nowehere near enough for my music library add a couple of movies for the kids in the car on it makes it even less. Its twice the price but the wifi sounds interesting. Using a web browser to control my ftp server would be its main use, but checking email and shiz without using one of my laptops is also a benefit. Any thoughts people ?
  9. Thanks Josh Just got back in for the first time and its all looking good. Cheers Martyn
  10. Ive still got the problem. Cant search, am not seeing any new posts when I go into the sections and the list of people viewing is the same. Ive cleared the cache, tried using IE7 and firefox and still the same
  11. Is something not right at the moment? I cant search for new posts, and each time Ive logged in this afternoon its shown me the same people logged in with the same details and the same posts being new. Im just posting this as a bit of a test really to see if it changes anything.
  12. Your having a laugh.I was on 55k GBP in London and 75k NZD when I came back and it was like Id gone back to my varsity days of 'own brand' everything, with no holidays, no clothes, no meals out and no booze I have to earn three times as much in NZ to even get close to the lifestyle that I had in the UK. Interesting how you define an immigrant Shelley....arent we all immigrants when it comes down to it !?!? Or am I ok because Im white ?
  13. Really ? The bank is only interested in one thing and thats what you have 'left' to pay them after the IRD has had its pound of flesh. Dont for one second think they will give you any benefit of the doubt. When my wife and I came back from the UK with a combined student loan debt of 50k it was the first thing they asked us about. Knowing that we had two kids and wanted a three bedroom house in Wellington they offered us a mortage of 250k....all because they knew that on the salary I could expect to get in NZ and with a student loan requiring I pay 1k a month in penalties alone that I wouldnt be able to pay a mortgage. But where the hell do you find a 3 bed house for 250k in Wellington ? In the end we were forced to pay a deposit of nearly 100k to get a house that had no insulation, no heating and only two bedrooms requiring another 25k to insulate, heat and convert a small study into a third bedroom. My first job got me 75k a year (nearly twice the national average - which is about 4k a month) but with a mortage of 2.5k and living expenses of 2k a month the student loans went untouched whilst we got further into debt each month just trying to house and feed my family. Thanks to penalties the student loan is now closer to 80k and the interest rate hikes mean our mortage is now pushing 4k a month. My wife is a full time mother to our children, so has no income, so is not required to make payments on her loan, but the penalties dont stop. The debt gets bigger every month and even more unlikely to be paid. So is it any wonder people are striking or leaving the country in droves ? Whilst cheese is now more expensive than meat and milk so expensive people give their kids Coke instead, the businesses that provide the essentials are making record profits (supermarkets, telecoms, energy providers are all making billions right now) yet those who provide essential 'life' services get pennies. Who would seriously want to be a doctor, nurse, teacher, police, fire or ambulance officer in this country at the moment ? It costs tens of thousands to get qualified, and tens of thousands of lost income in the meantime. We were in intensive care with my two day old baby last year and were asked to make a donation before taking a plastic cup for drink of water....whilst our doctor was so tired after coming to the end of his 14 hour shift that he couldnt add 6 hours onto 10pm. 14 hour shifts in intensive care is just wrong. Even the nurses were doing 12 hours and in the environment they are in its just crazy and Im supposed to put my trust in people who are so tired they cant add up ? So I say good on the junior doctors and good on anyone who has the guts to stand up and say that this isnt right. New Zealand has somehow got all its priorities wrong in the last twenty years. No where are my cheap flights to Aussie
  14. Oh I tried alright, I was fcuking furious with how they dealt with my car and the damage they caused. The main guy there (cant remember his name right now sorry) didnt even have the decency to return my phone calls to sort it out and was strangely 'away from his desk' when I went in to see him about it. Once he had his money (which he insisted I had to pay before he would give me the car back - without the damage being fixed) he didnt want to know me. I wouldnt go back in there if you paid me.
  15. Forget his buy mine....thats on TM
  16. Hmmmmm Powerhaus, they had my car once and it ended up coming away with scrathes on the tints, paint on the rear corner and scratches on my m-pars with not a word of apology or any acceptance of responsibility despite the fact that they were the only people to have touched the car once it was removed from the container. You cant go wrong with Vijay and Bo at Page European. Do a search and see how many of us go there.
  17. Oh for god sake man, calm down. You made your point in the previous thread, no need to go jumping down everyones throats especially as the initial comment was pretty innocuous.
  18. You can buy the plaques off ebay for about 5 quid so dont assume its genuine even if it has one.
  19. Glad Im not the only one who saw that Bloody nice though
  20. I wonder if they will let me take it out for a test drive ?

    Ipod Help

Grant I dont know if this will work for you but you dont actually need any programs to copy the music from your ipod to a PC, you just need the ipod to be setup as a disc drive. Once thats done you 'explore' into the ipod and see the hidden files that hold all of your music. None of it is labelled as you would expect (I think the directory and filenames are all 5 or 6 random digits or something) but if you copy the whole lot to your PC and then open itunes on your pc and import that initial directory it will all magically appear with the correct artist and albums names etc. Whether this copies data such as playlists or ratings I dont know sorry, Ive not paid attention to that. Ive only ever used it to get music to and from my neice and nephews ipods. Works a treat if you want everything, can be a pain if you only want some of it because you have to go through it in itunes and remove anything you dont want. If you find a solution let us know though
  22. Wellington traffic is laughable compared to the 2 1/2 hour hike I used to have (each way) around London ! I live 50 yards from the bus stop and work right next to one (both on the same route), but the journey to and from home on the bus takes nearly an hour because they enter the city at the furthest point from where I need to be. Ive waited for 45 mins before in the pouring rain for a bus and then three have turned up all of them packed and the first two refused to stop. For the couple of weeks that I did it, Id say I had to stand for the entire journey at least 80% of the time and the attitude and quality of the drivers was just plain dangerous with that many people all standing. Even with taking my kids to school, I can leave my house at 8.45, park in the building next door to work and be at my desk by 9.10. My drive home is leaving my desk at 6 and walking in the door at 6.15, public transport just doesnt compete.
  23. Sorry I said new when obviously they are used. But youd be hard pressed to tell that in person and when you see you can buy the screen and the mk4 nav for half what the dealers asking for a new screen how many people are going to buy new ? Im not looking for Daihatsu prices, Im looking to pay real world prices and not the jumped up sums that NZ BMW dealers suddenly come up with. Some parts Ive landed here for $100 have been $800 at Jeff Grey. What would you prefer to pay ? $1500 is ex the UK too, it would be even cheaper from Germany. Like I said, good luck with the sale.
  24. Even though I havent been involved in this I just wanted to applaud Ollie on his efforts to get this sorted. Top work fella.
