And this is a perfect example of why we havent bothered with a DIY section in the past. Shady, youve got both a moderator and several long standing BS members all telling you what youve done to your headlights is not safe and yet youre still arguing the point that youve done nothing wrong. In one of your previous posts you say the Admin/Mods word should be final but you cant even follow your own advice on something as simple as reducing the efficiency of your lights ! How often are we going to have the argument were its said the mod is illegal/unsafe or someone like yourself just responds by saying "Ill just take it to a testing station that doesnt have that testing equipment"? Thats just plain stupid and suggests alot about the often abysmal driving habits of people in this country. My own opinion (which may differ from Admin) is that its pointless having a DIY section when you can find anything you want in about five mins by just searching the internet. BS isnt going to end up the be all and end all of BMW knowledge when you see how many members these other sites have its not difficult to see why they have so much information on them. That doesnt mean people should be discouraged from doing a write up on here. But how many decent writeups have we had in the last 12 months? Its all very well saying "I didnt do a writeup because there isnt a DIY section" but unless people start doing writeups a new section is just pointless.

You got anything in the pipeline ?

IMO the man with possibly one of the best collections of cars on BS Hope you picked up something nice for the Alpinas. Hows the B12 coming along? Has it been enough years to register it yet ?

I dont disagree with any of the points raised so far. Mark's initial post was excellent in fact. But what people have to remember is that its up to you to make this happen. If you tint your rear lights then do a proper write up with photos and it can be considered for a sticky or even a new section. What has often happened in the past is whilst there is always lots of enthusiasm initially there has been a complete lack of threads worthy of 'sticky' status afterwards. If people dont bother to take photos or write up what theyve done any new section will just sit there empty.

The topics have now been split. Shady, you dont have to post a dozen times in the same thread saying the same thing after youve already been told to keep it on topic. There are a million and one posts on forums around the world on how to do anything and its debatable as to whether the is any point to putting the same thing up here. If you do a search you'll find this has been discussed several times in the past.

And the reflectors are 'polished' for a reason. A DIY section could be a great idea, but are you along with everyone else going to be happy with what Admin consider to be 'legal' or 'safe' ? Because if we stick strictly to whats legal, this thread would be out for a start. I dont want to ruin Mark's thread by going off topic, and Im not having a go at your Mark at all because Ive tinted plenty of amber lights red in the past but making a DIY section might not be as clear cut as you think.

You mean like when people spray the reflectors on the headlights

I havent touched any of those for at least five years and I dont miss any of it. Actually I tell a lie, I had BK once last year and felt sick for the rest of the day. If we fancy a burger we do Wisconsin, if we want pizza its Hell (although they are seriously crap at the moment from our local), we have a chippy down the road who's pretty good otherwise its always our local Malaysian place. Owned and run by a bloke who only cooks what he eats at home with fresh ingredients he gets in daily. If you order two of the same dish, both meals are still cooked from scratch in separate pans with his fingers measuring out the spices, so no two dishes are the same. His curried lamb shanks and his wife's goat curry are superb and because Ive known him for a few years he always texts me when either of them do a 'special' to see if were interested in trying out something new

Really? Ive never seen any Alpinas look anything like that. Do you have any photos of the real thing ?
-
Seeing as they go for anything up to $100 I dont think your $10 is going to cut the mustard mate.

But should a major happen what would it cost to get a tow truck out and how many years of membership would it take to save up that money ? Sods law states though, the moment you cancel your membership G, you'll need them ! Ive never been a member of the AA or anything like that (and touch wood) have never needed to use them.

What does a set of door cards cost these days ? Ive seen them sell for peanuts. If you dont have the $$'s then be happy with what youve got (thats mint) and spend what little you have elsewhere.
