And I bet this is just terrible...
-
Here's a non-performance engine in a shitty chassis... doesn't go like a cut cat at all.
-
Happy New Year to one and all. May 2017 be more prosperous for you than 2016!
-
How will we measure "performance" when the "engine" plays only a part in overall power delivery? i.e. Hybrid cars?
-
Holy crap that looks daunting! Good to see it being done properly though.
-
All good. The only disadvantage is they get slightly tacky when left in direct sunlight on a hot day for a while. Never been a problem for me though.
-
Common problem with these BMW trim pieces. The permanent fix is to sand them back and repaint them or replace them entirely. The alternative, which I've had success with, is to mask it all off and plasti-dip them. Mine are still strong coming up 3 years now.

try these guys if you know the dimensions etc: http://advancedseals.co.nz/ http://www.sealhouse.co.nz/orings-xidc99677.html

But are they performance brakes?
-
^ forget that, result of ridiculous forum software.
-
-
I have a 4.5 turn brushless in my TRF511, now that's a performance engine motor.
-
I never imagined this thread would end up like this... Oh, and this forum software sucks hard. Give us a basic bbcode editor so we can actually post the sh*t we want!
-
Welcome! Yes, it can be reset, I can do that for you for free (Ellerslie) or somebody else closer to you might put their hand up to help. It's done with either a special tool or BMW's software, I have the latter. Whether it comes back on will be determined by what caused it in the first place. You've probably bypassed the occupancy sensor with that kit and if that was the fault then all good. If the fault was elsewhere then it might come back on again after a reset.

Meremere to Silverdale is ~100km's I would have thought a quick shout out to Brent in Papakura or even $25 at Pick-a-Part might have been easier?
-
Surely you could get a well looked after E39 or E36 from 1998/9 that had all the required work done for $6-7k? Certainly older but might still be suitable?
-
This is actually quite interesting... Ferrari 355, for example, claimed 109 bhp / litre in 1994. But that's "claimed" and so were: Honda : 175PS = 172bhp from 1590cc = 108.1bhp/l @7500rpm Mitsu : 170PS = 167bhp from 1580cc = 105.7bhp/l @7800rpm Both "claimed" (as far as I can determine) and there's much conjecture about their real specific power output (i.e. a lot of people say these claims are BS or that in testing the torque was so appalling it made the engines effectively unusable). Apparently the S50B32 was "proven" to have >100 bhp / litre but it was (apparently) BMW themselves that "proved" this on a dyno to a UK publication. I can't find that publication or article. Certainly I'd say the S50B32 is the most acclaimed and useable of all the engines that claimed >100 bhp / litre in the early days.

Why do all your pulleys appear to be red? Anyway, 20 mins of overheat in an E36? Was it in the red all that time? Because that's not likely to be good I'm afraid, I've been told even a few mins in the red can be fatal on these things? I'd expect all of your coolant would be gone after 20 mins. Congrats on the warrant though and at least these coolant systems aren't difficult or even too expensive to overhaul.
-
Welcome. Was that in NZ or elsewhere?
-
I was seeing 93 not 92, That MIVEC looks interesting, I need to read more about it now.
-
Can't see 100bhb/l here in NA form? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_4G9_engine
-
Perhaps but that was after the S50B32. Well the BMW engine is recognised as reaching that milestone first. Is the 4G93 (GSR engine?) NA?
-
Yes, it was BMW with the S50B32. Performance is relative to range. There a 'R' Suzuki Swift that matches none of the above criteria but it's still the "performance" model (and is quite fun actually). But of course compared to any Ferrari the Swift would hardly be considered a "performance" car.
-
Is that the 4-door that by definition can't be a "coupe", coupe? You might be able to get simple overlays to "fix" the speedo (like this for the E46: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tachoscheiben-fur-Tacho-BMW-E46-3er-300km-h-M3-BLACK-Special-Edition-/)

I'm sure your approach is better than mine Ron, thanks for letting me know. /threadparticipation.
