  1. I'm loathe to say that it suffers the same problem as the E36 M3 (especially in sedan form). It looks like any ordinary sedan. The E30 M3 looks quite the opposite.
  2. The Merc looks terrible. Even for a 1980's car.
  3. If it has a Pac-man connector under the hood I can probably do it for you also.
  4. TBH I have very few ideas but hate to see an E36 cry for help go unanswered... so here's my 2 cents worth... Could be a bad ground but I doubt all of the above uses a single, common ground. Nevertheless, worth checking. Some general electrical diagnostic advice here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/101-Projects-82-Electrical-Problems/101-Projects-82-Electrical-Problems.htm Final thing from me: the wiring loom that goes from the main body into the boot lid is notorious for causing weird and random electrical glitches in these cars... might pay to pull (or cut) the sleeve back (left hand boot hinge) and check for shorts there. See: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?79896-Attention-ALL-E36-owners-beware-WIRING-PROBLEM Let us know how you get on.

    Quick Questions

Interesting. I actually thought you could only code the mileage on new/blank modules. Seems to defeat the entire system if mileage in used modules can be re-coded! Hope it all works out as planned.

I get you (lol) but I was really just confirming that you knew the highest mileage in the two modules will be used, you don't get to choose.

The highest mileage of the two right?
  8. Yeah, well if it's not in the cap Audi's will still have a release valve somewhere which you might be able to use. Alternative you could tap a separate valve into the top of the reservoir somewhere - just get the correct pressure which I think is written on the top of the S50 cap. S50 is closed loop though, you may need to factor in a relief valve return line also.
  9. Maybe ghetto but does the BMW cap (which has a valve) fit on the Audi tank? You'll need good thread engagement. Alternatively maybe a suitable Audi cap?
  10. Can't help much myself, you seem to have found as much information I could offer. A 6 speed box will be mighty expensive, yes. They're out of ///M cars so ///M tax.
  11. Where are you getting pressure release from with that reservoir? Doesn't look like that cap blows does it? Fits well though.
  12. Had intercooler sprayers in my Evos. Good for when you're sitting at the lights and your charge heat is increasing rapidly, useless everywhere else. FWIW.
  13. I couldn't be sure I'm afraid. I expect a water pump would be at least two hours labour + parts and assuming you mean "timing belts" then that would fit into the same window but parts again would be extra. If an E30 is about the same cost as an E36 then pump, thermostat, belts, pulleys would be ~$250 and then more if you needed tensioners, hoses, clamps etc, etc. Talk to one of those shops above, you should be okay. If you have doubts or questions about their advice then post back here. Edit: if the engine needs to be "timed" and you're asking these questions then don't buy the car.
  14. I like how you put your keyboard in artistic mode there Malcolm. You need to get your car scanned before you buy anything. What year is the car and which city do you live in?
  15. It was a few years ago but I got mine from here: http://www.bindons.co.nz/ I dealt with Shane Wombwell, he was very helpful.
  16. There are a number of quality places, including some of our sponsors here, depends where you live. East: Botany Motor Worx Central: BM Workshop Shore: Bellars Motor Works Whangaparaoa: Hell BM And perhaps a few more I'm forgetting... Welcome BTW and post pics of the car when you pick it up. Manual by any chance?
  17. It's a quality framing hammer, I've had it forever. I can't remember the brand and it's a bit out of reach for me now. I paid $420, I think retail is $500 but there's also a different model at around $300. The trays are good and fit in this thing well, that's a large part of the reason I got it. It's been a plan long in the making and starting to pay off. I've migrated my trays from a Teng carry case to this now. I'm also looking at their EVA (high density foam) trays for my 1/4 and 1/2 drive needs.
  18. I use a sledgehammer when it comes to the car...
  19. I've been wanting a proper tool chest for some time and finally took the plunge. I got a Teng top box because I knew it would accommodate the existing Teng tool trays I had, it has the features I wanted and I don't think it looks half bad. Need more tools now. Can you all see these pics? New web host for me (f&#k you Dropbox and Photobucket).
  20. That is a sweet looking hose, Simple but nicely executed. Custom hoses rock.
  21. I'll contribute what I can as long and the admins are okay with it. Back in the day some forums had issues with discussing specific software, not so much now it seems.
  22. Good to know. I'll edit my earlier posts so there's no (additional!) confusion.
  23. I think that's correct although I'm not the authority on what ADS and ODB can and can't do post ~2001, especially when it comes to writing to modules.
  24. Yep, that's the one, the "Pac Man" connector.
  25. Something similar, yes. I've had a conversation with them (they're real racers) and yes, they'll do any E36/M3 kit in pretty much any size I wish... Pricing might be a bit out of date, this was from a little while ago...
