Because I couldn't complete the last post... I got my w/pump, thermostat, housing, gaskets, belts, pulleys, tensioners etc from Schmiedmann, my hoses (including the rear ones) from FCP and my radiator (large Japanese type) here locally. Didn't pay any unnecessary import duty/gst/whatever that way. Now @BatMansWilly recently got a Fenix radiator I believe and wasn't too happy with the fit, might pay to avoid. There's nothing wrong with the Behr but it would pay to see if you can get one locally. Personally I'd skip the water pump pulley and fan clutch unless you know something's wrong. I wouldn't bother doing the belts unless I did at least the pulleys and idlers. I'd do the tensioners also only if I felt they needed doing. Might be hard to work out yourself what you need unless you've done it before so take @_ethrty-Andy_ up on his offer before you start, buy him some beers and go from there. Good luck, if you need any insight I'm happy to help remotely.

Yes, I just did mine (328i) and as @qube says, getting things in batches will be less expensive. F* this forum editor sucks balls.

I should be able to do it, can you get it to my place (Marua Rd)?
-
it looks good from a distance and from a few angles but not many lol! Needs a clean too, maybe you had sun-strike?
-
Are the sizes on the auction correct? Rear rotors are larger diameter?
-
I occasionally offer bricks of hash or coke instead of cash, you need to pick your sellers though!
-
Sure. I look forward to seeing this in practice during the next topic you passionately subscribe to. I'll follow your lead.

Are you a human William? Do you understand that beyond a certain point you're only talking to yourself because everybody else has tuned out? Do you recognise that in such situations however "correct" you are nobody else cares? When nobody else cares you've lost your argument, your position and any authority you had. It no longer matters how 'correct' you are because you're already 'wrong' in the eyes of all observers. Not because of your argument but because of your attitude. I used to be "right" all the time at work until an astute manager taught me long ago that always being "right" was simply wrong, irrespective of how accurate I might have thought I was. Carry on as you wish.

You've changed your name Ron (William)? Anyway, the problem here, and in many similar threads, is that there's simply no universally correct answer despite the insistence of some. If one has to rely on semantics to prove their own paradigm is 'correct' then they've missed the point of the discussion. This was never a thread about absolutes, it was always going to be subjective. Discussions so often are. Being a member of a society invariably requires, from time to time, one to stand down from their position, however informed and accurate they believe it to be, in the interests of promoting harmony. Recognising when doing so is in the best interests of the wider community is a very respected trait and when a 'discussion' has devolved to semantics that point has well passed. For most people being harmonious some of the time is much more important than being right all of the time.

And I bet this is just terrible...

Here's a non-performance engine in a shitty chassis... doesn't go like a cut cat at all.
-
Happy New Year to one and all. May 2017 be more prosperous for you than 2016!
-
How will we measure "performance" when the "engine" plays only a part in overall power delivery? i.e. Hybrid cars?
-
Holy crap that looks daunting! Good to see it being done properly though.
-
All good. The only disadvantage is they get slightly tacky when left in direct sunlight on a hot day for a while. Never been a problem for me though.

Common problem with these BMW trim pieces. The permanent fix is to sand them back and repaint them or replace them entirely. The alternative, which I've had success with, is to mask it all off and plasti-dip them. Mine are still strong coming up 3 years now.

try these guys if you know the dimensions etc: http://advancedseals.co.nz/ http://www.sealhouse.co.nz/orings-xidc99677.html

But are they performance brakes?
-
^ forget that, result of ridiculous forum software.

I have a 4.5 turn brushless in my TRF511, now that's a performance engine motor.
