  1. Lovely car, GLWS! Perhaps you should say test "rides" but I'm pretty certain I wouldn't by a car without driving it myself, you may need to reconsider that condition?
  2. No worries and, yes I should have added that I meant sea freight. I thought You Shop offered sea also but perhaps not. Kiwi Shipping (Mainfreight) screwed up once for me but made it right without argument and have been fine subsequently.
  3. They nice wheels, largely a copy of the BBS RC design. For shipping consider https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/youshop or http://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/ - both will be a lot less than $588!
  4. Hmm, does an e36 M3 rack offer you anything? I have one wrapped up in the garage if so, let me know.
  5. Is there anything not epic about this post?
  6. Colin and I were both trying to alert Andy to this thread. He's a moderator here, local to Wellington and can probably provide the recommendation you're looking for. It might pay to send him a PM and ask. My other comment was just to confirm you shouldn't assume it "all" needs to be replaced. I can't see any other helpful information in the thread.
  7. That's awfully "professional" of you Glenn! How pleasant. Jump down off your pedestal and join the rest of us because it must be f'ing lonely in "your" sandpit way up there! You're getting grumpy, you need more social interaction.
  8. No, that's an improper assertion Glenn. Pretty much anybody with rudimentary knowledge and an Internet connection can provide a superficial diagnosis of e3/46 cooling problems. They're so well documented you couldn't avoid the obvious if you tried. We're all trying to help and help doesn't always require a "professional". Not looking for an argument but your position is far too absolute. It's not black and white as you make it out to be.
  9. She asked two questions Glenn.
  10. @_ethrty-Andy_ @MsSpeedFreak - that will depend on the cause. If it was running fine and then started overheating as badly as you describe then it's quite likely a leak of some sorts. How much coolant is in the system now? Assuming a leak it doesn't necessarily mean everything needs to be replaced but unless you know the age and condition of the components then it's a good time/excuse to replace the main parts. Parts to consider are: Radiator, Water pump, Thermostat, Thermostat housing, Expansion tank, Coolant level sensor, Hoses Somewhat related: Belts, Tensioners, Pulleys
  11. And it's a $1 reserve classified listing, not an auction. How does that work? Edit: Odd, I see it's a classified that links to an auction: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1245936823
  12. 3 km's and 5 min's which is bliss in Auckland. Just purchased a bicycle. Used to be 21 km's and 50 mins... :-/
  13. What was the problem in the end?
  14. Thanks dude. Smith & Smith want $275 for remove and replace which seems like an utter rip-off to me, for crying out loud it can't take more than 60 mins can it? What's their hourly rate!?! Novas and Auto-Glass can't give me a quote on the weekend but I will try them again on Monday. But really, unless I can get a quote closer to half of the S&S cost (which is unlikely it seems) then it's not worth if for me. Heck, even at a total cost of $350 I'll be considering it very carefully. Will let you know but don't hold it on my account if you have interest from elsewhere.
  15. Correct and sweet, do let me know, cheers.
  16. Is it unconfirmed because it's non-standard? If it's 3.6x I'll take it. Heck if it's 3.9x or 4.1x I'll probably take it also.
  17. Original or OE glass has the BMW emblem on it with the main stamp.
  18. Hmm, too tricky for me one thinks. I might give S&S a call and see what it would cost me to get them to remove and install. If indeed they'd even do a labour only job. Seal needs to be perfect after all. Edit: is it genuine BMW glass?
  19. How hard is it to install a windscreen (properly)? I could do with one but won't bother if it'll take a mission or many $ to install...
  20. Leather carpet? Now that's unique!
  21. Actually that thread is about the best "looking" BMW's so I think that changes things up altogether. IMHO almost nothing modern would be on the best "looking" list.
  22. Because I couldn't complete the last post... I got my w/pump, thermostat, housing, gaskets, belts, pulleys, tensioners etc from Schmiedmann, my hoses (including the rear ones) from FCP and my radiator (large Japanese type) here locally. Didn't pay any unnecessary import duty/gst/whatever that way. Now @BatMansWilly recently got a Fenix radiator I believe and wasn't too happy with the fit, might pay to avoid. There's nothing wrong with the Behr but it would pay to see if you can get one locally. Personally I'd skip the water pump pulley and fan clutch unless you know something's wrong. I wouldn't bother doing the belts unless I did at least the pulleys and idlers. I'd do the tensioners also only if I felt they needed doing. Might be hard to work out yourself what you need unless you've done it before so take @_ethrty-Andy_ up on his offer before you start, buy him some beers and go from there. Good luck, if you need any insight I'm happy to help remotely.
