    If they're in the same price bracket as the Pirelli ones then walk on by. Toyo have come a long way in a few years and deserve credit for that but aren't playing with the big boys yet. I'd choose Goodyear or Bridgestone over Toyo at a similar price point.

    Lol no worries, went through a similar process myself and learnt a truck load. It's a pity the manufacturers don't surface this info more readily. However my biggest knowledge breakthrough was understanding the limitations of asymmetrical tyres and the marketing bs that surrounds them. Last time I looked only Pirelli and Goodyear had it right.

    I edited my post above a little regarding asymmetrical/directional which should be a consideration but not essential. But for that sort of coin I'd want to optimise my experience. In short, all are awesome, yes. Not sure what the 599 uses, they may be Ferrari specific (I know the 599XX tyres are made only for Ferrari but that's a track car). I'd still ask the question so you know what you're expecting. $1,830 inc seems to be a very, very good deal to me considering the sizes you're looking at.

    Damn, you've got all the hook-ups girl! And don't get me wrong, PSS is a great tyre but the Corsa is arguably the best. Nowadays P Zero is actually a range, not a specific tyre and Nero, Rossa and Corsa all sit at different price points to satisfy different markets. I don't even know if all three are available locally. The Corsa is the balls-out super car tyre that's considered the bees knees by most. It's a "system" whereby the fronts are directional and the rears are asymmetrical and they use Pirelli's best street compound. This is the P Zero tyre. I believe, but stand to be corrected that the Nero and Rossa use the same compound as each other and it's more a "normal" performance compound rather than a "special" compound as in the Corsa. The difference between these two is tread pattern optimised for slightly different compromises (because a tread pattern is by definition, a compromise for dry grip and traction). The Nero has better wet performance and the Rossa is oriented slightly towards better comfort and lower noise. Corsa > PSS > Rossa > Nero in outright performance terms. The high end Goodyear and Bridgestone tyres are in Rossa territory but all are "max performance summer" tyres (all super AAA rated for well over 300km/h). Both the Nero and the Rossa are asymmetrical only (last time I looked) so you can't optimise the setup with directional fronts. You really want directional fronts for wet weather performance and more precise and faster steering, I'm not sure the PSS's offer this as an option yet? Whether asymmetrical rears are required is debatable but isn't going to hurt.

    This. I wouldn't bother with other quotes, or the stress of deciding if you can get a set of Corsas for anywhere near the price of PSS's.

    If your P Zero quote was less than your PSS quote then you were either quoted cheap Pirelli P Zeros (Nero or Rosso) and not the "proper" P Zeros (Corsa) or you got a damn good deal on them. In a normal world there's no way you can get Corsas for less than PSS's but if you can then grab them. And remember that unless something has changed in recent times those Nittos are not a premium tyre and are very average in the wet. You'd be better of with the Goodyear or Bridgestone options I would think.

IMHO - from "best" to "great": No budget limit - Pirelli Large budget - Michelin Only in the dry - Nitto Practical cost/performance - Goodyear or Bridgestone I use Eagle F1's and swear by them, I can't believe how well they grip and how well they wear. I'm running asymmetrical rears (dubious benefit) and directionals up front (pronounced benefit) and love them. There's absolutely no way I can stress these tyres driving on the open road and I'll be using track tyres for the track. I do wonder why people pay for more tyre than they need. From my thread (because I couldn't remember!): I've had them for nearly 2 years and 15k kms and the embedded logos haven't even worn off! These will last at least 30k kms... you're not going to get that from the top 3 listed above. Best wishes, it's a big investment.
  10. Half a second? Unlikely. Assuming you're referring to the 335 and not the 323 then isn't the 335 already a ~5 second car? Even fabulous street tyres ain't going to make it a ~4.5 second car.

Read that and thought to myself 'what on Earth were the drivers immediately behind him doing?' - After about 1km I'd 1st put my lights on high, 2nd sit on my horn, 3rd overtake him and motion him to pull over, 4th give him a piece of my mind. I might have thought to dial *555 somewhere in there too. Drivers blindly following a fool like this are just as culpable.
  12. Email both Mr. VANOS (the UK one) and Raj at Beisan and ask what they have in the parts bin, you might be pleasantly surprised (I was).
  13. ^ Interesting but I think as expected. Be careful using that in the future, the next stage of failure will be the aluminium tearing at the outside of the bend and when that happens it will fail catastrophically and quickly.
  14. ABS is a death sentence at speed on unsealed roads. You need the brakes to lock so the tyres clear a path and dig down to something they can hold on to.
  15. Not most auto journalists... at least I hope not! BMW's marketing hype about double VANOS is pretty unambiguous about being continuously variable.
  16. Excessive speed often kills. But equating excessive speed to 4 or 10 kmh over is almost irresponsible.

  18. Hi Evan. Steering rack is ace, would never look back and couldn't have it any other way now. Normal e36 M3 steering feels woefully loose in comparison. Nothing negative to say about it. Colour matching head unit is also a must!

  20. There's no assurance these actually came out of a BMW, they could have been adapted to suit and therefore have custom "rails". Rails in this car referring to the part the mounts to the floor and the part(s) that mount to the seat and yes, you've guessed correctly that it was a reference to how the seats adjust. I'm simply not familiar with the mechanics of an E30 M3 seat was hoping to learn a little more about these ones, from the seller or others, I'm not picky!
  21. At $2,300 I'd be stupid to assume anything. And they don't look like standard rails, they look like sliders only but I may be wrong, that's why I'm asking.

  24. TBH the difference can be as much as $50 for 5 litres, nobody should pay retail for off the shelf oil. And the reason why, well the oil manufacturer says it's just dandy... and that's a pretty good reason. I'm not saying your decision is wrong, just that there's a justification for a different decision. Many S54's have gone 'bang' using only TWS also.
