  1. Or, txt her husband and ask if they swing?
  2. That's cool - perhaps you're unaware that "as is, where is" has specific legal implications that transfers all risk to the buyer. This would typically mean the price was substantially reduced. The way it's written it sounds like you've thrashed it, know it has problems and want to dump those problems on somebody else. Based on your post above this was not your intention and on that basis I'd just choose different words.
  3. I think we both read a different description of the incident. Overtaking somebody doing a u-turn? As they pull out of a carpark into your path? I'm not sure my "stationary theory" has any merit but I'm far from convinced by your logic. Mate of mine almost lost both legs when a fool u-turned in front of his motorbike on the harbor bridge years ago (prior to the barrier being in place) and that certainly wasn't classified as him attempting to overtake them! Maybe the rules have changed.
  4. Oh, you were in a Mercedes? Totally your fault! Douchbag.
  5. Oh I hate the risers on these things so much. But I love the low version. You can get fibreglass ones from Hamilton although I'm not sure it would be less than $340 shipped??? That seems a crazy low price.
  6. Oh, is it? Well how about that, I've learned something new, thanks. I have been ill informed and now schooled!
  7. Carjam says 1,770 kg's dry, that was my reference. Could well be incorrect.
  8. Wow those 6'ers were nearly 1,800 kgs! That's a heavy, heavy car back then.
  9. It may not matter but it makes for a much simpler explanation (in my simple mind) and may make any witness statements about speed irrelevant. That's the way I was thinking anyway. Really she has to prove that she checked and the roadway was clear and the only reason the collision occurred was because Graham approached (from around the corner, previously unseen) too fast. That he was stationary makes that a little more difficult I would think. Again, not expert advice!
  10. If I understand you correctly you were stationary at the time of impact? If so then she hit you... the speed you were travelling before coming to a complete halt seems irrelevant to me. And I'd just stick to that very simple logic, I wouldn't even engage in a discussion on speed "I was stationary" period. Don't contact the husband, talk to the owner of the car you were driving as soon as you can and tell his insurance company that you were hit whilst stationary. Let them sort it out. Sorry to hear this and good luck. Edited because apparently my shift key wasn't working too well...
  11. E46 M3 and E36 M3 are really quite different cars and driving experiences. Drive both, decide which you prefer, go for what you want and you won't be disappointed. Having said this, of course the E36 M3 is the best...
  12. Welcome dude and congrats on the purchase. Hope you get your inspection two from a forum sponsor!?
  13. Escalation is probably because I get emotional about this sh*t. I know what "speeding" is and it's got nothing to do with the posted limit. That intelligent people are indoctrinated to believe/accept this dismays me. Speeding can be interpreted as two things: 1. Exceeding the posted limit; or, 2. Exceeding the limit of safe conditions Anybody that thinks #1 is accurate needs to spend a little more time reading. I can easily navigate the Waikato expressway on a fine day at 180km/h without endangering anybody. I accept that if I wreck at 180 the damage will be more than if I do so at 100 but the point is, save mechanical failure, my chances of wrecking at 180 are not more than at 100. Just rolling out a "speed" reasoning strikes me as ignorant.
  14. BS. I asked what "speeding" means? In absolute terms 101km/h is "speeding" but that's not going to make a difference at all. So, I ask again, define "speeding". Or, with all respect, stop spouting BS statistics...
  15. People need to stop saying "speed" or "speeding" because it's meaningless and just dumb really. What is "speeding"? It's certainly not +/-4km/h or even 10km/h. I feel like I'm "speeding" (read: going really fast) at about 160, certainly not 120. So in my mind "speeding" is just useless terminology. Thus renders the last few pages of this thread a bit rubbish. I regularly drove at 140km/h+, often 160km/h+ when living in Europe and driving in Germany. Didn't seem to have any problems with "speed". "Speed" is absolutely *not* a cause of 30% of accidents, that's bullshit. *Excessive* speed possibly is. Excessive "speed" is probably +40km/h beyond what the conditions permit. Which means most "speeding" statistics here are total bs.

Yes and no. Not quite specific enough to be accurate I'm afraid.
  17. Lucky, very lucky. When those bolts back out far enough to foul then all hell breaks loose. Really, you'll need to replace the hub at some point, hopefully before it breaks. Unless you have an x-ray you can't assess health but they're weak from the factory. Only axial play in the shafts is an issue and it's a minor issue compared to the rest. Easy to sort if you're taking it all apart.

I missed the inside joke on 'MR BM' so just stumble around looking like a confused fool!

Don't worry dude, I have no f'ing idea what's up. Amber doesn't own the 599, perhaps her other half does, idk?
  20. I'm a pretty trick snowboarder.
  21. No, S50 and S54 are different I'm afraid. But it's *not* a locking tool and strictly speaking it's not essential. Beisan is the only link/source you'll need, the others are derivatives. You also need to check your exhaust cam hub tabs, depending on miles they're probably already fractured. Happy to help where I can.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, they've come a long way and I wouldn't be able to rule them out. But at the same price as a massive, established brand I'd struggle to choose them. It's not because I think they're in any way 'bad' (although they used to be nasty).
