McLaren P1 - well I'm not sure if it was a P1 or a 675 or a 570 because they all look so similar but I think we only have a P1 in NZ - northbound on the Southern motorway today. Glorious in white. Didn't take a pic because, well, driving.

Long time no post... I've not had a lot of time to love the car recently... But since I've got a new job now and a regular income the projects can start again... I'll be getting my 17" wheels refurbished soon so I can fit some track tyres - I'm not sure if I can get that sorted before Christmas but it'll be as soon as Jan if not. In the meantime I've just taken delivery of 6 metres of "M Rain" fabric and some Alcantara for my interior overhaul project... I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do but it will cost thousands - fabric was >$1000, I'll need a set of Recaros and then the upholstery costs will be sky-high I'm sure - eek! But this is very, very high quality fabric.

I run 255 tyres on an 8.5 rim and they fit perfectly and look great. 255 is however about the maximum you should run on an 8.5" wheel. I did have the guards rolled.

Nice looking car. Do you mind if I ask approx what you paid? I might be looking for something similar. Now, there are a few people on here that can tell you how to plonk an S50 in there you know?
-
Picked this up for my seat upgrade project. Though I might have to get some track tyres first!

I actually had a nice lady from Fibrenew come out and see my car as a result of bga's thread. She took lots of photos and said it was certainly doable... never heard back!? My plans have changed since anyway so no loss.
-
That unfortunately makes her failure even more pronounced.

Don't see the appeal of orange flashers... I'm often unsure of why there's even a debate, what aesthetic improvement do amber indicators provide?
-
Good on ya. I don't care at all.
-
I stand by what I posted at the time with the information available. And I don't think we're looking at a quick sale for that engine at that price.

Nice. It does seem entirely unnecessary to mask plates though, I wonder why people do it? It's not like you drive around trying to hide your plates right?
-
Not "moot", but inaccurate. The NZ plate system is not (by any means including legislation) a "closed loop" system. It can't be, plates get stolen all the time. The reality is, and everybody knows it, if we could buy legit plates in NZ for the same costs as we can get excellent reproductions from overseas then we would buy them locally. When the cops publish statistics on the number of actual problems reproductions cause then we can have a meaningful discussions. Until then it's all moot.

WTB: e36 electric fan kit/viscous fan clutch + intake snorkel for gril
M3AN replied to Reuneb's topic in Want to buy
I've been running my M3 without a viscous fan for over 12 months now, no problem at all in our moderate climate. -
Did you spin the pulleys with the belts off? Were they quite? On of my new ones was noisy as hell!
-
Terrorism. Fundamentalist wankers. Makes me sick.
-
So, what did you pay for it?
-
This is just like the debate when the video first came out. Not much agreement then either.
-
Somebody couldn't handle their 'new' car eh?
-
Message sent, I'll let you know what they come back with.

^ Wife - "why is there a hole in our lounge floor?" Allan - "Really? There's a hole in our lounge floor? Oh, by the way I sorted the engine on the BMW!"
-
That's odd. I'm in good standing there... a foundation member actually... if you want me to reach out to a mod on your behalf let me know, happy to oblige. Edit: just let me know your user name there.

If you can rig up a block and tackle to the ceiling of your workspace then you can get away without an engine hoist. Block and tackle is easy and inexpensive.
-
Yeah, I think $6k is too high but I'm pretty uninformed on these things. From my perspective the risk of buying a wreck with a potentially dead engine is just too great for $6k.

Complementary tickets to the V8's. Wicked day today.
