Make a sensible offer. I'd like to free up the garage space.

I was going to keep quiet, but I can't. I love alcantara too, much better than leather. Also love green and caramel (my M5 🙂 ) but I like the tan too. Though, it is a bit on the light side on this car.

Perhaps this is his inspiration. M54B30 with 400hp. (rebuilt, fitted with a very cool supercharger)

That was me, because I love CC and every luxury car should have it*. It's shocking to me the lack of CC on 'classic luxury BMWs' in NZ. I'm not from NZ. In Canada every E39 sold would have had CC as standard. I use CC on every 'out of the city' trip I take, which is all trips, since I live rurally. *every car should have it, and people should use it! (also, I have a 523iT, manual, with working CC (imported from UK))

So, he spent $50k on a $10k car. That's a bad investment unless you keep it and really enjoy it. Also, (rant coming) it's a classic car. Don't put adjustable suspension on, it's not a race car! Stock springs(airbags) and B6 shocks, there's nothing better for NZ roads. Big stereo, ok, but you can't get the money back. $7k for seats! You can't get that back. 19" wheels, I don't get it. 17" nice, 18"- a stretch.... really, there's no need for 19" (but that's just me) ok, I'm done. I'd love to have it but not anywhere near the asking price. I think I'll buy that M5 for $26k on FB and spend $5k on it, which I will get back (eventually)

This is my beloved 1999 523iT manual. The engine light has come on P0170 P0173, fuel trim malfunction. Clearly there's a vacuum leak somewhere under the intake manifold. Anyone had this before? Can recommend where to look? I fear I will have to remove the intake manifold to find it. I had something like this before, it was the hose on the top that was leaking, fixed that about 10 years ago. The 'wailing' sound is there at the start of the video but is more obvious after I blip the throttle and it comes a back. It's quite loud, sounds like a vacuum cleaner, oddly enough. M52vac-leak.mp4

I'd buy that! LWB though. Comfort!

FWIW I agree.. I love those stock wheels. The BBS are damn nice too. GLWS

What are the 2 things on the right side of the centre console?

Auto... who cares....

An update I put on the TM ad. Added a couple photos too. The vanos was overhauled in Aug 2017 at 70,000kms. Have receipts. Also around that same time the starter motor was replaced, the ICV was replaced, and new brakes (Zimmerman, drilled rotors) and pads, and Bilstein shocks were fitted.

Does it have cruise control, if so, I'm very interested!

Many thanks for your input/help!

I doubt the switches are on CAN bus so my plan should still work. Who/how would I get this coding done?
-
I don't want to buy any switch. I hope that if I find the wire to turn it on (one switch I install on the dash) and the wire to set (another switch I install on the dash), I can get it to work. I don't need any other functions. What is the 'appropriate coding' you are referring to?
-
Where can I find detailed diagrams like these? I would like to add cruise control to a 130i so I want to find the wires that might make that happen.

Sedans are better 🙂 Frames on the windows, stiffer chassis... just saying, things to consider.
-
Right, and all those cars that come with SPEAR parts. What that...?
-
OFFS... how is it possible people can't spell RARE! It's not a good look!

My car, for sale. I found something else that I want. See TM ad. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/5174692740

Am I missing something? This seems utter nonsense. US$50000 for 100hp. Couldn't he have bought a supercharger kit for 1/4 of that and got more than 100HP and still had factory reliability? It makes no sense.
-
Also, it does say in the ad the milage but it's a bit convoluted. It would seem the modified S62 engine has more than 146k MILES on. Great motor but that's a big number of miles for a modified engine. (235k kms)
-
I'm curious about the exhaust. It's making lots of power but seems to NOT have dual M5 exhaust... it doesn't because it says it still has a spare tire holder, which M5s don't have because the exhaust is taking up that space.
-
That must be the Nowack thing. It looks like the standard airboxes have been modified to fit larger intake pipes.
-
The description is hard to read and makes little sense to me. It's a 530 shell with slightly modified M5 engine and brakes. What the heck does n500 have to do with it?
