I was under the impression that they are "tamper lights", i.e. they come on if the speedo has been tampered with

Each to their own... but I've driven both of those and found them to be hugely compromised. Mk4 GTI is gutless and Mk3 Vr6 is all torque steer and no go. You need to compare apples with apples, a late 90's car will certainly corner and brake better than a mid 80's one.

Being so rare, I'd say its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. A "standard" 325i M's seem to go for circa $10k. But again, who knows with this puppy.

Did BMW NZ bring in any E30's with leather? If they did, would have to be only a few as I've never seen one!

Normal leads will be fine. Just make sure you get the "+" and "-" around the right way!

Have been searching Google for quite a while but always come across dead links, or sites wanting money from me. Does anyone know where I can download a .pdf E36 owners manual for free?

Very rangi. Would go with nicely with the old stocking over the taillight trick!

Sounds like a nice car. I've always been a fan of red 3's. At $27k it is not bad buying, but remembering you could go and buy a comparable import without the kit and a few more k's for under $20k. But at the end of the day, I guess for you it comes down to the change over figure? Before you run to purchase the 330, I would also check out this cheap cheap Audi in Dunedin.

I'm pretty sure the owner has posted a for sale thread on this site. My guess for the reason it hasn't sold would be price.

Nice. Is it a factory Alpina, or is it a M325i with wheels and badges?

You sound like a very brave man. Don't drive anywhere without changing the oil and checking all other fluids. Jeff Gray's or Page Euro should be able to give the car a good once over and tell you if there are any issues the need rectifying.

Was that the silver one which recently sold no reserve on TradeMe? That had to have been one of the bargains of the year! I remember when I was about 5 years old and being absolutely gob smacked at a family friends brand spanking new '89 750il.

The Ferrari F1 team fired their pit crew yesterday. The announcement followed Ferrari's decision last month to take advantage of the New Zealand government's 'work for the dole scheme' and to hire unemployed Maori youths. The decision to hire them was bought on by a recent television documentary on how Maori youths were able to remove a set of car wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, where as Ferrari's pit crew can only do it in 8 seconds with the aid of millions of dollars of high tech gear. This was thought to be an excellent yet bold move by Ferrari management. As most races are won and lost in the pits, Ferrari were confident they would have a decided advantage over every other F1 team. However Ferrari got more than they bargained for on Sunday when, during the first pit stop the Maori crew changed all 4 tyres in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had re-sprayed, re-badged and sold the car over to the McLaren team for ten cases of Lion Red beer, an HQ Holden and a quick look at Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend in the shower.

Beautiful E30 M3 on Parnell Rise today ( pics)

I don't understand what you are getting at, there is nothing illegal or wrong about this thread. It is no different than discussing a new book you have read or a nice holiday spot. The info on CarJam is a matter of public record. Why would you be "pissed" if some people were admiring your vehicle? I don't get it. -
Sweet, it's a colleage at work. Will pass on details.

I know someone who may be interested around the $2k mark.
-
Sorry, but the only BMW's I would have in my 5 cars under $25k would be a 2002tii and an facelift E39 540i Touring. The other three cars would be a Porsche 968 (maybe not a CS for under $25k), Mercedes-Benz W124 (pref E320) Cabriolet and a VW Golf R32 (Mk 4).
-
How much are you looking for?
-
Nice one. But may I ask why you have bought this car? If I had a 335i in the garage, I would be driving that at every opportunity and not mucking around with an old E30!

Remember that this is a public forum and what you are planning to do is highly illegal.

Good thinking. There are plenty around at the moment and if you are patient enough you will bag yourself a bargain. The perceived complexity and fuel consumption of E39's has seen them get into E36 prices. But, when I think about it, you could get yourself a very very nice E38 7-Series for under $10k - you will often find them for sale cheaper than a comparable year and km E39. Well, think if you actually stop to think about it, $10k is good money from a dealer. The dealer would have to recondition it for the yard (usually $500-1500) and then retail it at a level which would see them make some profit. Hopefully they would make $3k on a car like this, so they would advertise it for $16-17k (as they will never sell it without haggling or over trading). If you saw an E39 travelled nearly 200km for $17k, you would think it was rather expensive. Also, the fact that it is a V8 probably makes it worth less than a 530i in today's market (again, petrol price paranoia). I see there are a couple of E39 facelifts listed on trademe currently. You need to remember that an asking price doesn't translate to somethings worth. I highly doubt the examples listed will sell anytime soon as they are way overpriced.

I'm pretty sure it is a jap spec "SE". No such thing as hi-line was ever sold in the NZ market.

Oil is now trading at US $86.50 a barrel. The lowest it has been in the last 12 months. Why are we not seeing any change at the pumps? I know the fall in the exchange rate plays a part, but I think the oil companies are holding on for as long as they can!
