  1. One brand new never mounted one almost brand new but has a slight 3cm curbing cut (wofable - I checked with the dealership. Cosmetic only) Sold Stock F80 M3 and F82 M4 front wheel fitment no longer neededP
  2. Here’s another 40 seconds to waste what happens to these defective inflators Yes just a bomb really. There was a comparison video online before between a good one and a defective one but it has been removed. Suffice to say the good one just gives off a load of gas and not much else. Also, I am not sure if anyone can answer this definitively for me. But according to LVVT rules, you are apparently allowed to decommission airbags if they are more than 14 years old. Not sure why this wasn’t a considered route to take for these old E46s? I wonder if it would have been economically cheaper than to replace them.
  3. Sorry i went to look for it but only found the alta filter lol

    Airbag recalls

Semantics, fairly sure the said service advisor on matters such as these say to customers "according to BMWNZ ..." I hardly think they just make stuff up to tell customers. Also if I recall correctly I think with this particular incident i asked about it three or four times initially and the dealership actually went to find out from someone at head office what was happening, hence the "according to BMWNZ ..." Someone in your position can surely supply to the forum the actual numbers of still registered E46s both import and sold new in NZ and how many airbags are in stock or coming into stock for those recalls? I'd like to know if there are as many airbags as there are cars here in the country? Regardless, I do apologise for the confusion if I had caused it - I honestly don't know what is happening with these recalls since I last asked 1.5 years ago - I also have not been as active on forums recently and it never occured to me to update about a post on airbag recalls 1.5years ago, but what I don't understand is how you can imply from what I wrote as indications that I was still bitter over something that was long past - or as you call it my tanty episode?? Fair judgement on a still loyal customer you think??? If anything your attitude towards me three years post said tanty incident seems to indicate that it is you that still hold a grudge against me for some unknown reason? ps - I also most certainly don't appreciate what you have implied about me being bitter? Far from it? I think I deserve an apology, much like the one I gave Mark K three years ago. Pss - I am still grateful for things that head office do for me! So I am honestly perplexed as to where this animosity is coming from? I am still buying parts and cars from the brand almost too regularly and I have been sober and not thrown a tanty over trivial crap for the last three years : P Perhaps time to move on and move forward Jon? Wave next time you spot me on the road, it's not like you live that far away from me anyhow!

    Airbag recalls

WOW how professional! I expected better from you! How did you ever interpret what I wrote as being bitter??!! It was written over 1.5 years ago!!! WTF? Simply uncalled for! I simply relayed what I was told "at the time" when I asked about the driver airbag by the service advisor! 1.5 years ago!!! Heck the guy probably doesn't even work for you guys now! I stated clearly I am not sure if "this will change" in reference to non NZ new cars. As it transpires according to you I was given the wrong information back then! And if you really think BMWNZ is doing a good job with these airbag recalls, check my two E46 cars that had both airbags replaced two months BEFORE I actually got the recall letter to come in and do the recall?! Why are you sending me letters when it was already done?? You honestly think I still hold a grudge over an M day invitation from years back???!!! If I did, I wouldn't have bought a F80 M3 two years ago and I wouldn't have just bought another car TODAY from the same dealership?!! I also wouldn't be constantly buying spare parts for my cars! In fact I am more than certain I alone maybe the highest "individual (non corporate) spender on parts at dealerships. "Not" the way to treat someone that still holds a passion for the brand and still direct business towards the brand - don't believe me, ring the dealerships and find out from the service guys and parts guys that do a fantastic job. Ring Jonny and find out if I didn't just buy a car today! Whether I burnt my bridges with people in BMWNZ or not is irrelevant to an airbag recall, it's not like I've actually received personal invitations to any drive days since then anyways, so most likely already black listed. Do I care? Not a bit really. Do BMWNZ care? I suspect not really either given your reponse to my post 1.5 years ago! Heck crucify me for not updating on the status of airbag recalls! ps. And No need to thank me for spending my time going through all my backup hard drives and old computers ao I can dig out and supply old photos of the original Mini Showroom so that visitingGermans can see the progression to what the brand is today. pss. Tanty over - peace!

    E46 M3 project

Slight overdue update! actually not much changed till recently until the clutch started playing up. Couple of correct re-adaptations and resets and it'd be better for a short while then it'd thump away. I knew something mechanical wasn't right with the clutch mechanism, suspected a broken plastic pivot pin. Low and behold it was and a seized flywheel which I didn't plan for!! Just wanted to show how good SMG is on the clutch. Sorry for the crap photo! But in person next to a new clutch plate it was almost as good as new except for the outer wear from uneven release due to the broken pivot pin. Original clutch 177,000km+ never changed! And people don't like smg : P Stupid plastic pivot pin got to love NZ new rust free cars!!
  9. Sell your collection and buy it Ray so we can all be super jealous!
  10. They all site higher on the left, they are engineered that way as a left hand drive car. Every single one I have measured sits higher on the left.
  11. You need to reset the steering angle sensor with the factory tool and also reset the longitudinal acceleration sensor. And possibly the dsc unit also.
  12. I am not talking about performance gains. Heck I can make a stock M3 go faster and corner better. But add up the values of all the bespoke parts and you'll be over the $100k mark easy. Trust me! I wrote the original parts list and have been following parts prices for years.
  13. Hmmmm Have you seen the list of unique and bespoke parts for this car?? It is fairly extensive ... I should know!!!
  14. This was Matt H's car I believe?? So ex drug dealer car from Police car auction??
  15. A lot of non M cars are quicker than old M cars. The fact that 1M has an engine code that starts with N tells you straight away it is not a bespoke M engine. Not saying it isn't a good engine, just not a M engine and never should have gotten a M badge. If the 1M is a true M car then this Z4 should be called a Z4M. But enough 1M bashing from me!! Good luck with the sale! Bloody awesome car/chassis these things!
  16. Correction the 1M has the same engine as the Z4 35is .... because it was never a true M engine, and never a true M car.
  17. You can't buy them individually. Only the full cover. aftermarket is your only solution.
  18. Props to Hellbm once again for coming through with the goods!!!! And same day delivery also!! Heck if only all businesses had this kind of efficiency!!!!!! Big thank you to Ray!!!!!!!!
  19. Seriously no wreckers out there with manual seats that they can pull apart??? I believe the rails are the same in the Compact as in the Coupe. Will give $200 for these.0
  20. Non electric seat base frame from e46 coupe. As pictured - preferrably already in that stripped down form. must be from a manual operated seat.
  21. Modern epoxy is stronger than welding. a lot of new cars are now bonded with adhesive ... actually almost all new modern composite supercars have non composite crash structures bonded to composite. Since I think 2005, BMW have been using adhesives as an approved repair method for repairing front ends of a lot of their new cars. The reality with the way the RACP is layered (4 layers including the stud mount) in the rear boot floor of the E46 chassis also means it is impossible to rust proof every single surface that welding comes into contact with. Not to mention the fact that welding is impossible for this car as the rear mounting has already been injected with bmw approved epoxy filler. Which I might add has proven to be an effective repair method for a road car. In my humble opinion, the only sure way this can be prevented or repaired without future failures elsewhere is a GTR style rear bar that spreads the load correctly into the rear main chassis, a full coilover style rear suspension and solid mounting the rear subframe craddle. It is a shame that all of this could have been prevented by BMW had they created a different rear subframe stud mount that actually tied into the rear chassis legs in the first place.
