  1. Agree, I often supply parts but I make sure they are always of good quality (Bosch, OEM etc). That was part of the understanding I reached with my shop, that they wouldn’t install anything they wouldn’t normally recommend. For what it’s worth, I had a belt I supplied be defective from the factory. My mechanic put the old one back on for free, which I thought was incredibly good of them. At least I was reasonable enough to recognise the defective part was now my responsibility. I also took them a box of beers as a thank you...

    Quick rant thread.

There are good people on both sides of politics. But this lot are just the worst bunch of shallow, vacuous phoneys who have no idea what they’re doing. It’s a real contrast to the Clark, Key and English premierships and the teams they were able to assemble around them.

    Quick rant thread.

I would be happy to even be able to exceed 30km an hour in large parts of the CBD! I don’t think people will notice much difference.
  4. I am interested to hear your detailed thoughts in this after a few days of using it. There is a massive thread on one of the American forums covering their use in the E70. Some have found them good some have found no end of problems. Looks like an attractive way to get CarPlay.
  5. So... what kind of Lexus are you getting when you sell the 135i?
  6. It’s easy to find odd exceptions to the rule but the overall truth of that statement remains for most people.
  7. Property is an investment, a car is a liability. Honestly, the more money I pour into BMWs over the years, the more I consider just buying a Lexus. Now you can all throw rocks at me because I’ve given up on life!
  8. Thoughts on the X5? I have two years to run on my warranty and I keep eyeing them up.
  9. Guess it’s going to BMW then, that location is too out of the way for me.
  10. Can’t believe he turned down the swap for the Chrysler Crossfire!
  11. Thanks guys. My mechanic actually recommended Coolcar but the one in Henderson (used to be in Grey Lynn). I notice there is also one by my office in East Tamaki and according to their website this Peter guy owns this and the Manukau one. Will give them a call today.
  12. Hi Everyone, I am having an issue my air conditioning losing refrigerant over a series of months. Basically it started hissing and having poor performance, my mechanics refilled it with dye in it and sent me on my way. 4-5 months later it's back to hissing. They cannot see any obvious leaks via the UV dye and have suggested me a specialist they use. I thought I would check if anyone has any good recommendations for people who know about BMWs either around the Rosebank area, East Tamaki or City Fringe. Other option is to send it to Auckland City BMW. I'll be looking for my Autosure warranty to look after me on this so will need a MTA member. Thanks!
  13. Must. Resist. Urge. To. Buy. E39.
  14. Frankfurt Airport - nice looking car. I can’t decide if it’s as epic as the original. See, for me it’s how this thing is relative to the 6 Series and I wonder if it’s thst much different...
  15. Naawww come on, I think they’re a cool little city car. Just way too expensive.

I like my Omegas but my Speedy is due for a service. I have a broilking but it’s too insufficient to post here! My other passion is collecting vintage Gillette safety razors, which I use with a brush and soap every day... don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
  17. There is supposed to be a cheap car challenge in China I think which has an E38, W140 and something else. Can’t wait for that one.
  18. What about Ozoning it? Or fabreeze, that stuff is magic.
  19. Yes, one of the issues with the proliferation of internet and smartphones, is that we can see the true nature and intelligence of a lot of people. And now, with the apes able to communicate, it’s only a matter of time before they overrun us all with their noise... Facebook comments on media here especially.
  20. I always love the questions that try to run down the car “as you know these are expensive repairs and big problems.” If you’re serious go and look at it and ask for the service history...
  21. I’m going through the same thought process right now. Interested to see how this thread plays out.
  22. Yes, I think it was $38 to be exact. Total cost of parts was $322.
  23. Ended up taking Olaf’s recommendation of Mick’s Garage - can’t believe the shipping price. For $40 I won’t have to bother putting these in another bag, arrived in just over a week.
