  1. Sadly the first link is just the buttons, I got really excited that it was a bargain lol. Is there anyone here in NZ who repairs them? I might end up going the Ebay route but it's always a pig of a thing to deal with if they're not the correct part or it's defective when it arrives. If someone wants to PM me with a price of chime in that would be great. I've had one quote already which I considered outrageous to the extent that it would be worth buying new from the dealer...
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm after the control panel for my E39. I have the "MAX" button on mine so it is the facelifted controller. Does anyone have one to sell? Thanks,
  3. Timing chain noise caused by lower oil pressure when the car is sitting at idle? Just looking at the number of km's.
  4. I don't really know much about E30's but the fact it has no front numberplate/holder was also strange I thought for a NZ new car.
  5. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-549987977.htm Interesting car, appears to be NZ new. It's even an auto for ham fisted drivers like me...
  6. 17k gets you a nicely optioned 2001+ 530/40i with low kms I guess it's worth it to a collector but looking at the seats etc this does not look like a car that has "time capsule" status. And you still have the cooling system rebuild etc to look forward to...
  7. In all honesty I don't know if you will get a good example of a 330i with 8k. Not without it having high km's like the one above. At that mileage you're getting into some extensive suspension replacement if it has not already been done. If you're going to buy something with that many kms you'll need to insist on full and complete service history. Perhaps you'll get a deal but they all seem to be priced higher than that.
  8. Finally resealed the two rear vapor barriers on the doors. Now the car can be out in inclement weather again if needed! And my AC control panel has died causing only hot lava air to be pumped into the cabin... sigh looks like it will be a new one of those on Monday. Anyone know what these usually run from a wreckers and if there is anywhere in Auckland rebuilding them?

    Sell out sale.

This reminds me, I was able to get the parts I PM'd you about from here in Auckland before I went away on holiday, so I'm all good.
  10. 47! Full of luggage I would go to 40PSI - normally these tyres have a max of 50 or 55, from what I understand you want to allow for an additional 6PSI from when they heat up. Like KwS says it's either on the door jam or the fuel flap where the pressures are listed.

I don't know about anyone else here but if I were a dealer I would charge a higher margin on keys.... precisely because there is no alternative. What a great way to make extra margin when it's a non-commodity product. Just out of interest - what does he do outside of the Dog and Lemon guide? I wouldn't think that would be enough to make someone a reasonable living.

I only ask because we've had to deal with it a couple of times here where people open their mouths when they should have and deliver an opinion rather than the company position. It was limited to inside our industry but it really f*cks me off when we have when we have to clean up afterwards.
  13. This is probably a stupid question, but is your CC button not on the steering wheel?
  14. Ah great, this will be an excellent summer project for me to work on. I'm not fussed if it is LED or not but I do want the OEM torch to work. I assume the battery could be had from any electrical supplier like JayCar or similar?
  15. Hi guys, I have the torch which plugs into the socket in the glovebox, but it doesn't work. Are there any common faults with them? Is there an easy way to change the bulb? It wasn't immediately apparent to a non-skilled/practical person such as myself if that could be done. Thanks.

Sounds good, I'm only after the headrests so if you've got any seats which are too far gone that you don't mind seperating that would be ideal. Material or leather, does not matter.

I' m after some standard front headrests for an E39 - does not have to be in good condition. I'm also keen for the carbon canister solenoid valve which fits my car if you have it - not sure of the part number(s) sorry.
  18. I think I have standard ATE pads in there - there's a sh*tload of dust. Every European car I've had has always been the same. The only way to effectively eliminate dust is with a ceramic pad from what I understand. However I have been told that ceramic pads are more difficult and can be prone to making noise. I would suggest looking on the US forums as they've got a wider range to choose from over there. With the dollar being high it's probably worth importing them and then just getting them fitted here, unless you have to replace the pads right this minute.
  19. If you read that thread a little more you'll find that they used a clear coat on it afterwards, I would imagine a matte or a satin would get you a good finish and make the plasti-dip much more durable.
  20. Haha, the average speed stored in my OBC shows 37kms, in Auckland a Central Auckland commute there is no need for performance.

    Sprung a leak

Don't know how long you've had the car but wouldn't this have been noticed before? Might also be worth checking all the seals around the sun roof etc to see that water is not getting in there somehow. Pull the ruined A pillar and get someone to run a hose over the car while you sit inside, perhaps try it with the sunroof taped up too.
  22. Well I tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full.
  23. I believe I spotted your car twice over the weekend - do you have a blacked out 528i badge? First was in Newmarket mid morning on Saturday near the Olympic Pools as my girlfriend and I were walking to the Parnell Markets. 2nd was Sunday parked in a driveway in Ponsonby as I was driving home from visiting family. Each time it was the wheels which drew my eye, very nice looking car!
  24. I'm aware of that... the reason I asked is that the CEL is designed to monitor the emissions system, or rather the systems of the car that keep it running with the lowest possible emissions. At least that's what my manual leads me to believe. I just find it strange that they wouldn't connect this pump to the system which monitors everything, perhaps because it was not market specific.
  25. Does it trigger a CEL light when it's removed/non-functional?
