"So where's the car?" "Just down in the dungeon.... ah, I mean garage"

I've just replaced my E39 with a 2008 C250 - I know it's not in the same league as the AMG's or V8's but it's still a nice car. I've always had six cylinder BMW's and Mercs and for me, that's the best balance of performance and economy. I quite like the styling, a bit blocker than the previous models. The only thing I can add to the conversation is that the Mercedes is far less sporty and much more relaxing to drive in general. Perfect for wafting along. That, and parts are eye watering when it comes to cost, I have a 4 year warranty.

Nice car, E46 M3 is the best M3 IMO.

I used Auckland Panel and Paint out in Onehunga via my insurance company when my girlfriend ripped the bumper off my E39. I'm not a bodywork or paint expert but they did a good job from what I would see, very through and then did a walk around at the end of the vehicle for me. They also stored the car for me as I was out of the country and couldn't pick up when it was finished. Currently I've got an annoying paint chip on the boot of the Merc, they estimated about $300 to repaint the boot lid, I don't know if that's cheap or not. What I would say is that a car like your E31, just get it done properly. I'd rather a bit of extra cash up front than know it's not really how you want it.

I've always done mine every 30,000km regardless of the car. On my E39 they drained the fluid and replaced the filter/gasket (fluid was described as very dirty @ 120K). As mentioned you can't get all the fluid out of these cars so I drove with the new fluid for a few thousand km's and then they drained and replaced the fluid only again to get most of the old fluid diluted to the point it didn't matter. Yes, might be overkill but it made me feel better. I noticed a very marginal improvement in shifting quality, really in the E39 you should not be able to feel the shifts.

Followed a very nice E46 328i wagon back from Whangarei today, in silver and very tidy. Anyone on here?

Hi Guys, Looking at selling my car if anyone is interested. Yes, I'm aware the price is outrageous, I'm hoping to not have to deal with a lot of time wasters and to be negotiated to a price which will work for someone who is keen to buy. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-774488262.htm PM me if you want any additional info.

Really nice car and in great condition! But I don't think the market for ancient V12's is that great in these fuel constrained times. Hopefully when it does sell it will go to someone who looks after it and maintains it properly.

Hi Team, I'm looking at getting a new car and am after a mechanical warranty. I took a look at the Autosure Extreme Policy. This one looks great as it covers everything, ideally this is what I would like. I phoned them to see if they deal with the public but they only sell via dealers. However the lady did mention that sometimes the dealer would simply sell the warranty to someone who wants it. I see there are a list of sellers on their website. Has anyone been through this before and knows a friendly dealer who would sell a warranty? I imagine the margins in this must be excellent for them as they pretty much just take their commission for filling in the paperwork so would be keen to do it. Thanks!

Are you sure your car has an alarm? Mine does not, I believe its more common on Japanese imported cars. Also I would have thought that you could test the alarm system with a good scanner/computer.

Have noticed as well, I just ship to a US address and forward on my packages.

I like the wood, I know people like to change up and make their cars more modern and all power to them. For me this is a real 1980's car (despite being sold in the 1990's) so its outrageous shape, thirst and interior are all part of its charm.

And the cost of all that product is balanced out by the three days of food in the front seat. Sounds like a great car when tidied up,look forward to the pictures.

Very nice, I like that the seller is promoting cold start inspections.

This is the owner paying you back for not paying his jacked up 5k price.

My 2001 has the old key. The IR key/remote does suck, are you sure you're pointing it right at the rear view mirror and the batteries are not dead? Perhaps the fob is damaged? With only one key you'll want to order another anyway.

The car pulling out probably didn't see it due to the Lambo being in stealth mode... I would think that owning one of these in London or any large densely populated city would be a nightmare.

OEM-BMW parts from ebay in USA 1/3 the cost of NZ. WHY?
NZ BMW replied to kulgan's topic in General Discussion
High NZD Higher volumes More competitive market Personally I've started buying stuff from the US. I have an address there to ship to and can have something on my doorstep in about 4-5 if I really need to. I'd like to say that I want to support local parts suppliers but with the exception of a few like Hell BMW I don't see them adding any extra value to me, I find most have crappy service and there are no good NZ based online stores so why bother? Even if some parts I buy offshore are bad I can often afford to buy two or three landed for the same cost so it's worth the risk. -
Gah! I need more than one carpark in my building

Like I would care what some muppet in a riced out 6 Series thinks... -
There must be a declared value from NZ Customs or the consignee. Can't you use that?
