"there's three types for this car", Richard Honda are notorious for that and no doubt other car manufactures also. Don't buy it their might be a bit of dicking around with getting the keys cut sorted for the vehicle but not to the cost some on here are describing sounds like the price dripping going on with airlines flights Own experience two new diamond shaped uncut keys $100, key cutting both $45. Send keys and EWS away to get info transferred onto new keys cost postage only as the kind person wouldn't accept any thing for it was a simple info transfer.
-
Surely all that info is gather up and kept by the factory when the orders for the vehicles are finalized and the cars are being assembled in the factory. A vin number a couple of clicks on a key board and the info would be available surely ( typical German efficiency) or not.

This vehicle is in Washdyke Timaru but the auction is in Wiri Auckland. Could cost the new owner a few bucks to get it transported unless they live close by.

Have to agree Nathan. Just trying to throw light on the many issues BM's have and it seems they make the same mistake over and over. Bring out a new model it has inherent faults some are fixed more appear these are fixed they almost get it sorted and they then change to the next model and the cycle is repeated. Back on topic check these out hope they help. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1947676-E92-335i-Common-issues https://www.google.co.nz/#q=faults+bmw+335i&*

Sorry have to disagree with you on that you must have been lucky or some one had already fixed the problems associated with the e39 e46 models, weak cooling system almost any bmw model, suspension bushes, missing pixels, reliance on electronic gadgets etc. Not a very good advert for a car brand sold as luxury models with a high asking price.
-
Would not be so forward as to advise one how to spend their money especially 30k. As Nathan has mentioned "BMW's can and are problematic"if you don't mind that then all good and well. Having owned three bms a 5series and 2 3 series all being high maintenance their so called quality, reliability pedigree has to be questioned.

Run, spend your 30k wisely on something else.

Channel flicking last night and came across Megafactories it was all about the way the Audio R8 is assembled. Total ally body and sub frame all the assembly I saw was by humans. The only machines were in the prep for painting, painting and applying the sealant to the windows. The car paint cycle took four days and involved some fancy looking tech knowledge. The v10 engine come from Hungary I believe they got a real work out on their test bed. With all the normal checks being done glowing red manifolds and run up to max rpm some were about 8,400 rpm. It appears that only the most skilled staff are allowed on the R8 assembly line hence most are over forty and are know as silver liners because most have gray hair. The went on through the assemble process motor/trans fitting it, dashboard, seats etc they even went on to give details about the car some 300km/hr zero to 60 in some 3.2 or 3.8 not sure which cost around 108,000 euro while the v8 type would be around 80,000 euro.

You guys are all sof tee's it's all sealed and smooth now. Was way more exciting when it was grave plus counting the rabbits and hairs sprinting off the road as you rounded the corners dust trailing behind. Then reaching the top and looking out over the valley then taking on those hairpin bends dropping some mtrs in a short distance. That part of central is indeed beautiful in the Autumn and welcome Ian

E39 shop fest advice wanted. 525i, 525i Touring, or 530i?
allan replied to Gabe79's topic in General Discussion
Ok a link to images of e39 front seats https://www.google.co.nz/#q=e39+front+seat+images. The second photo shows the front seats in it you can see the seat controls and the cover panel. These covers are only held on by 2 lugs and a screw from memory. If the foam on the seat base is flattened to the level of the cover this allows contact to occur while getting into and out of the seat. This will eventually end up in the braking of the mount point and in my case the damaging of the seat control switch's -

Re the seat base if this is flattened by use their is no clearance between it and the plastic piece that covers and holds the seat control switch's in place this then brakes. Broken front cup holders a common problem a real pain but plenty of ideas out their to fix or replace Missing Pixels another common problem maybe us it as a bargaining item over price. Check around might still be a couple of hundred to repair not sure Noticed the centre caps missing really de-tracks from the look of the vehicle check again at replacement cost if owner hasn't got them and use as bargaining. Just something else I thought of if you get a chance check in the boot around the tail light area, carpet etc. The water coming off the boot rear screen is directed down the boot lid and part of that route is over the side of the tail lights if the seals on these are not good you get water in the boot. If bad enough some real funny electrical things can happen. Hope the ppl comes back ok ask if they did a fault code check and see if any were recorded best of luck -

Great to see you are being cautious and getting a ppl. Just a couple of things how much wear is their on the front side bolster of the leather seats and how compressed it the seat base as it can course the brackets holding the seat switch's to brake due to you hitting them as you get in and out of the vehicle. Check the rubber flaps on the back of the headlights these are little drains to allow moisture to escape but spiders love to make webs in them. This can lead to them getting blocked and the lights fogging up due to moisture being trapped in the head light. -
Have a google I found several UK threads concerning the vvt set up getting oil in to the cam sensors and coursing some weird goings on

MMM personnel I would be keeping the ford (bits tongue) These motors will empty your wallet quicker than water can flow from a tap. Do a search on here or google for n42, 46 problems best of luck.

Google is your friend their is a e39 buyers guide document on this forum i believe. It is not the purchase price you pay but the maintenance Pill you will have to swallow after should you rush in and not do your homework. As Nathan mentioned a 530 is the best option for power comfort etc and having owned one for 5 and half years would agree but and always a but with BMW's. Research is the key do not be in a hurry to buy they will not go away and one will always be for sale. While you are looking these I feel are a must Service history, receipts for other work carried out, Pre purchase inspection, if possible talk to previous owners, test drive as many as you can to get and idea/feel for the model. Best of luck in your search. -
Believe their are a couple of members with 335's on here be asking them what sort of problems they have had. Asking 33,000 plus for a 7year old vehicle has two owners and only done 66,000k jees not very good valve for money imo.

allan replied to Joel61's topic in Electrical system
The radio should be the bottom unit in the boot of your car right hand side. -
