Quick search CFC 363 First Rego in NZ 02 Sept 2004 NA15300 Assembled May 2004 M57N 2933cc six speed manual Production Code EJ92 No doubt one could obtain a build sheet for more info also was this the engine type that had swirl valve problems? Personally the colour, wheels, trim, 11yr old put me off and the asking price but it is through a dealer.

As Brent has said the A/C may have been off but the belt still drives the compressor and pulleys. If you didn't know their are two belts used one for the A/c and the main drive belt each have their own belt tensioner pulley but the main belt only has an idler pulley. Do it your self it's easy as.

[Q] Replacement/Upgrade for e39 530i
allan replied to m2geek's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
As Grant has mentioned about the radio world tuner after 09/01 the Japanese GP S nav system will not work in NZ has to be replaced with a US or Euro spec unit would go for the latest a Mk4 set up I believe. Would check the CD player to see if it has extra input and output plugs as I have no doubt you will be looking to hook up an I pod mp and other music thingies. -
This is a personnel thing It depends on what look you wish to have or who you are trying to impress 1. blackened grills etc gangster sinister look 2. chrome grills I'm a BMW prestige etc But as they have become so common not body gives a hoot as you go past. Just my opinion for what it's worth

Hi Jeremy No experience with the e39 range but have done a similar thing on a e46 removed a n42 motor and fitted a M54B25. On that I used all of the M54 electronic parts and keys you will more than likely have to do the same with the M52 motor and gearbox which ever one you decide to use. The ews on those I believe is only series two so not as involved as the 3.2 series. Also check out which system each car has for your remote entry if fitted ie infrared of radio. As this coursed me some problems when it came to locking the car their are ways around this. As I found out the motor set from the donor car was infrared red, Japanese import but the original car NZ new had radio to over come this it involved using the coding stored in the ews and transferring it onto new transponder chips in some new keys. Their may be easier ways to over come this but this is what worked for me. The gear box side of things autos I presume the parts cat shows them as A5S310Z or A5S300J for both the 532 or 528 so the control unit for which ever box you use will have to be put into play. The only thing is will the ZF controller talk to the DME of the 528 or vise verse with the jatco. Some research work might be required their. The mechanical swap should be straight forward if you use all the parts retaining to the 528 no doubt some of the 523 parts will be the same any how so just us the best were applicable. Best of luck and let us all know how you get on with it.

All the electrical connector used so far came from the 325 I spent a bit of time and destroyed a couple but found a way to remove the electric terminals from the plastic connectors. After a visit north I got a lead on why the locking on the car might not be working plus the info Tom posted on the diamond shaped keys seemed to back this up. So after arranging things with Tom and purchasing two new keys from an E-bay sit I sent them off so Tom could work his teco magic. They dually arrived and both worked the locks manually and started the car next I attempted to synchronize them but only one was successful will attempt to redo the other one later. So I'm now able to lock and unlock the car remotely which is great so things I have done since then 1. Run the remaining wires for the auto dip mirror to the fuse box just need to sort out the connectors and connect it all up . 2. Purchased a rechargeable torch unit and fit it in the glove box bit of a luxury thing. 3. Obtain the black cubic trim pieces for the gear surround and door handle pieces and fit them. 4. Looking at electrifying the rear windows seems to be a standard thing in the UK not so here on the compacts. 5. Looking for a complete M sport rear seat for the compact and the rear parcel tray with the hidden storage compartment.

Is your experience only with main freight?. As I have just received an item yesterday from Hamilton which I ordered around 3.30pm on Monday overnight basically. As well items from the UK which took eight days even around the Christmas break which is when things do get messed up.

Best of luck with the revamp. These little jobs have a bad habit of growing not only in size but $$$$$$$$$

Richard do you have access to a BMW parts catalog ie realoem.com or bmwfans these will help you out. The N42 motor does not have a good rep when it comes to oil leaks and that is putting it mildly. Should the ccv be blocked then this could the reason for some of your oil leak problem google it and it might help you with some method to prove or dis prove that the problem is the ccv or associated hose which might be blocked. To replace this valve and associated hoses requires the removal of a number of items as it is tucked away under the inlet manifold fiddle and a pain in the rear. Sure some one will chim in with a bit more knowledge than I and help you out.
