  1. According to car jam it was imported from South Africa with 170,00 on the clock and first rego in NZ 7/10/2009 assembly date is June 2001 LH68394.
  2. Thanks that was the point I was trying to make all good this fiddle stuff but to be able to get in turn the key and go without setting this and turn that. Just enjoy being behind the wheel with all the tech e stuff gone.
  3. You mentioned that because of all the techo stuff in the car you had to turn things off or tell it what to do which is nice options option I suppose. Was that not a distraction from just getting in and driving the car also all the other items you might have to fiddle with?
  4. Good on you. Have been through this also and still getting things sorted. The car has the radio entry/ central locking already fitted and it worked fine but after the engine trans plant and recoding it did not. Still have to get the gm5 checked to see if it has been turned off, altered or what ever the situations is. With the ews 3 I believe it is involved with the central locking remote entry system as part of the security of the vehicle as well. As the key that is being used to send the correct code to the ews at the moment is from a Japanese car and of the infrared type I'm not sure if I can run the radio system or have to convert to the infrared completely would prefer to stay with the radio type if I could.
  5. Try pick a part they had a 530 in their another member got a motor from it I believe.

  7. Over the week end swapped out the small case diff and fitted a medium one. Wasn't happy with the travel in first and second rpm /speed in 5th.

Shznit's ran it's own chassis number I believe anyone have access to that data base?

    BMW Airbag Recall

Dropped in to Gray's to ask about this the lass took my vin number and said they would forward it on to BMWNZ and I would hear in due course if my vehicle was one included in this recall. If Aiden is correct and the dealers don't have the info then who is dragging the chain on this issue or has some one jumped the gun?.
  10. Have you checked the condition of the two rubber plugs 15,17 Realoem.com at the back of the manifold/ fire wall.
  11. A number of interesting items http://www.multibriefs.com/briefs/cb-pelican/cb-pelican071614.php
  12. Would any one know the cc of fuel the injectors on a N42 or 46 318 would deliver?. thanks
  13. Remember the Sir Rob Muldoon stating any tax placed on petrol or motor vehicles will be spent on roading or words to that effect is that still so to this day? If so at a million ltrs of fuel a day they should have heaps to spend on the roads. As approx 46% of the petrol price is Gov taxes plus the GST plus the $$$ they get for vehicle reg. As for the road quality mmmm good, bad, indifferent, plan shocking old colonial tracks rolled over and covered with tar in most places. The roading methods are 25 to 30 years behind the times throw enough base metal at it and roll it using the general public's car she'l be right. Or seal it but don't repair any defeats just cover them up with the new chip. The powers to be mostly seem very short sighted only reacting to problems as they arise not pro active looking 10 years ahead and planning for it now. A prime example would be Trans -mission gully first mooted 25yrs ago only now going through the courts for approval once bare land now developed and many other factors. Auckland is another having massive expansion but roading left in the dust.
  14. Have a look at the rear of the inlet manifold when I did the engine swap on the ti I replaced two rubber caps their these were split and fell apart when touched. Might have been mentioned the rubber boot after the MAF has an outlet these split or crack at the base. Another place is the hose connection on the dip stick, oil return I believe check that right back to the outlet on the cam cover found mine to be hard and very brittle.
  15. Google it, images E36 angel eyes their are loads of them might help you decided
  16. Cannot offer any advice on other battery types you could try. Even having removed the audio and nav gear the e39's have a lot of other electronics going on in the back ground requiring juice so a good battery with some amps is essential hence the "brick" which it had fitted.

    E46 Diff

Have complete rear arms with shafts already from donor car. The only difference I can find so far is the bolt spacings on the shaft flange that bolts to the out put flange on the diff.

    E46 Diff

It still has the small case 3.38 to 1 in it and 5th comes up quick around 2,900rpm for 100k good in the go department but not for fuel economy. Hence the look at changing and most of the reading I 've done points to the 3.15 to 1 being a good balance. Will keep it in mind the crown wheel and pinion option but was hoping for a straight swap over. Still have a few inquires to come back so time will tell.

    E46 Diff

Looking for a medium case 3.15 to 1 ratio diff for a 2002 e46 have a few inquires out but coming up short so far so thought I would ask on here.
  20. Rod are you married? Their are only two ways to do things the right way and her way so if you want peace and quiet in your life just go with the flow. haha
  21. By the mess inside it would seem nothing was used to secure the vehicles at all maybe the park brake could have helped although the ute being throw around tells a different story. Even if under pressure your own survival instinct, common sense would kick in surely? and avoid the storm.
  22. Note the large structure which is chained down and didn't move, from that poor crew work with bad house keeping habits. Also why would the Captain endanger his ship and crew by taking it through a Hurricane in the first place where was COMMON Sense? bet the insurance bill wasn't little.
  23. What is the one thing that makes contact with the road on your car? How good do you want that contact to be? How much do you value your life and that of your family? How much do you valve the lives of other road users? I make no apologies for asking these questions. If in doubt throw the bloody things away and get some good rubber on your machine it may hurt your pocket yes but only in the short term. It also may be the difference from walking away from a situation or being in a pine box a bit mellow dramatic maybe. Do you want to live with that thought if only I had.
