  1. But no way it would meet current frontal impact or emissions laws.
  2. Interesting! Those are my least favourite! They're from a late model Ferrari (forget which). They look like generic BBS to me and a bit too modern for the car... The E31 really needs deep dish wheels to fill the wide arches and it does seem to sit better on slightly smaller (17-18") wheels.
  3. Great looking car, have seen your auction on TM. Having just spent some time sourcing a '91 E31 850i, I think you will lucky to get your asking price, I'm afraid. Most of the 850s for sale over $15K have stayed for sale - even those with the more desirable M73 engine - regardless of condition. I think people are just scared off by the perceived (and real) cost of owning when at a time when the cost of living is so high. To put it into perspective, a '93 850i with full motorsport kit and only 55K kms on the clock sold was listed at only $15.5K by a dealer (although it was LHD). It did sell. Hope you prove me wrong and get what you want for it. If not... Can I have your interior please?
  4. I looked at a LHD 1993 E31 850i recently that had just arrived from Japan. 21 years old and left hand drive... Can't have been SIV as the dealer wouldn't be able to sell it for 4 years! No idea how he got it through but obviously dealers know some things that us ordinary folk don't.

  6. Not sure 16s would cut the mustard. Yep, they do look the business. Now to find $3-4K from somewhere?!
  7. Yep. The ACS 3 piece are great. There's a set on eBay at the moment. Only £2.5K for just the rims. Bargain!!
  8. Bump... Also have a set of NGK Iridium spark plugs BKR6EIX - great upgrade for M62 V8s http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=749991876&ed=true $150 to BS members
  9. Sitting in airport lounges can be dull so I spent a few minutes with photoshop deciding what wheels I'd one day like to put on the E31. Unfortunately, I've decided a set of Ferrari F40 or 308 wheels would be the best option... Shame they will probably never fit or come in the right size. Oh well. The OZ racing ones look pretty gorgeous too... Reckon these would great also but couldn't find a side on pic...
  10. If you can't find one locally there are a few on eBay. Are you building something?

  12. The one with the non-p plate really stands out. So rare to see an M3 with standard plates these days
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't scrimp on battery power on an E39. Trans and engine failsafes will kick in if voltage fluctuates even a little. The guy who bought mine got engine failsafe when he tried to connect an iPhone 5 instead of 4 to the little iPod thingy I'd fitted. Car didn't like it!
  14. $400-500 if it's in good nick. Very simple... Just need a torx driver (t20 I think) to undo the airbag. Torx screws are at the back so that's by far the hardest bit... And it's really not that hard.
  15. ^ What Josh said. Before you buy a new battery get your current properly charged and see how it goes. If it runs down quickly and the problem reoccurs replace the battery. E39s have quite a lot going on even when they're not driven so you may just have left the timed heating on or something like that, and the battery may be okay. Well worth charging and checking before you spend $300 on a new one.
  16. That's cheap. I sold one of these at auction for around $200 on TM not long ago.
  17. Never been a big fan of E36s but they do look great as verts. Nice score!
  18. Interesting... Most of the women in my life are 'always right'.
  19. Looks good. You can have the tips back... I doubt I'll get round to using them for some time since the RS4 kit didn't fit. If I wind up getting that Ferrari setup it has tips anyway!
  20. You don't mess around, do you Mike?!
  21. Replaced all the dash and centre console bulbs and can finally see everything at night. Also just re-gassed the air con as well as my better half decided that had to go up the priority list! Only 35g of gas in there (out of a massive 1.5kg requirement!) so no surprise it wasn't cold!! The machine tested a small leak but it must either have been emptied or not re-gassed for a very long time to get down to just 35g. Will keep an eye on it for a while and if it stops working quickly will hunt for the leak source/s.
  22. Replaced a dozen dash and centre console bulbs... I can see where things are at night! The air con fan and temp dials are still out though but can only see one bulb - which I've replaced. Presuming the light 'tunnels' to each dial are blocked... Or they were never lit. Any E31 owners able to enlighten me? Pardon the pun.
  23. Tom, can you pretend you have an E31 and buy on my behalf?
